CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Okegbemi Ebenezer
Every one ran for safety. Anita carefully removed her head from the stick it was hanged but she could not run nor walk because her hands were tied to the bank. She was breathing heavily with fear visible all over her as she heard footsteps approaching her.
“Please, please, don’t kill me, I didn’t know it would turn out this way, I was trying to set up my friend in order to get close to her husband, I was the mastermind of all that has been happening. I am sorry, it is the doings of the devil please have mercy on me and don’t kill me” She began to confess without anyone asking her questions.
“What!!! Anita!!! You mean you are ….” Words failed John as he could not believe his ears
“Did you just confess and what are you doing here for God sake…what is your business in the den of the wicked” John challenged her while she was struggling to stand up but her hands tied to the back made it very difficult for her.
“Please, untie me first…I am getting weak” She pleaded
John looked at her with suspicion as he was wondering what brought her to the den.
“But what brought you hear and with what I heard you say in fear shows that something is fishy here…Anita so you are the one behind everything that has been happening in my family from the beginning” He screamed to let her know that he was aware of what she said…
“It was the devil that caused it, I was not the one, it is the deceit of the devil…please save me, I don’t want to die” she pleaded.
“You don’t want to die, that I can’t guarantee but why” He stammered.
“Am sorry” She pleaded weeping.
As John was talking, he noticed that there was a movement by his left, he fired a shot towards the place and there was a loud cry from the corner…it was the SSG that was rolling on the floor..
He had sneaked to the back to attack John from behind with the cutlass in his hand when the bullet hit him by the left shoulder…
“Aahhhshh, I am dead, save me” He screamed while John rushed to the place only to see his face..
“SSG sir, what are you doing here?” He shouted in a loud with shock in his voice.
“Help me, I don’t want to die…it was the kidnappers that kidnapped us” He lied.
“How come, ahh, this is mysterious with all the security details that are assigned to you” John asked staring at his hand.
“Please, I don’t want to die like this” He pleaded for help but John was confused as he did not know what to do.
He stood there looking at both Anita who was trying to loose her hands and the SSG that was wrangling in pain when he saw Kelvin running out of the den as if someone was chasing him…
“I will tell him all that happen, please I am feeling uncomfortable, help me” He began to scream.
John ran to the other side for his safety because he was not sure of what was pursuing Kelvin but when he noticed that there was nothing chasing after him, he came out of his hiding and confronted Kelvin with the gun in his hand.
“If you move I will blow your head” He shouted at him..
“Please don’t shoot me, I was only hired by Anita to destroy your home…I don’t know that it will lead to this” He begged for his life..
Anita was able to untie one of her hand as she secretly moved to the back and of John and hit him on the head with a big stick unaware…he gave a sharp cry and fell on his face but he was still breathing and conscious of what was happening…
“You are a dead man, do you think I am an easy prey” She shouted at John..
She picked the gun in John’s hand and pointed it to Kelvin who was pleading for his life…
The SSG in his own blood was begging not to be killed by Anita who pointed the gun towards him

“You will stay here while I would go and check what is going on over there” the second in command said to Blessing who was lying low on the ground.
“I will know why Klevin and the SSG are so much interested in you and the pregnancy” He lamented and stormed out of the small hut with his pistol.
He moved very fast but careful not to be seen by the other gang members when he sighted Anita holding gun and pointing it at the SSG…he aimed at her hand and shot at it..
“Yeeeeeeee” Anita gave a loud scream as she fell on the ground wailing…
John wanted to stand up as he was feeling strong but the spirit told him to stay calm as many secrets would be revealed to him of which he obeyed.
Immediately Kelvin noticed that Anita was down wailing with the gun dropping from her hand, he rushed to get the gun when a shot landed on his right shoulder and he fell on the floor. The second in command ensured that they were all disarmed, he tied them up together and pulled them toward the hut where the kidnapped victims are kept.
“You idiots, you think you can play the game better, anyways I am more experienced than you do” He said as he faced the SSG and helped him to stand up.
“I thought you said, you needed four persons for the rituals, they are complete now, the other one named Blessing is over there in the hut with the pregnancy in her” He said smiling while he helped the SSG to sit up properly while he held the shoulder where the gun had hit him
“Thanks for your timely intervention, you have saved me from public shame” He said smiling…
“I am the one handling the case of the kidnapped women and now if the world know that I am the one behind it, it means I will be disgraced but you saved me…please try and dispose them properly once we are through with the rituals, I need to get myself treated first… and for the money, I will send it to your account” He said holding the shoulder.
“Ahh, so you actually sold us out” Anita wailed…
“You also sold out your friend and her husband, you wicked enemy in the likeness of a friend” he shouted at her…
Where Blessing was laid down, an hunter’s dog came into the hut barking as it sighted a strange figure…it barking became so loud that the hunter had to trace the sound to here the dog was staying…
He traced the barking till he got to the hut only to find Blessing lying on her back with blood coming from her tight and breathing faintly…
She was dizzy and looking tired …
“Who is there and who are you” He shouted but there was no response..
“I will shoot at you now if you don’t talk” He threatened but Blessing could not talk but was speaking faintly…
The hunter moved closer to her and checked her properly…
What is a pregnant woman doing inside this thick bush” He asked himself as he rubbed her swollen head and carried her on his back but as he was about leaving he heard the voices of some set of people coming towards the hut.…he peeped and saw ten heavily armed gang led by the second in command followed by the SSG…
“Ahh Kidnappers” He muttered as he threw Blessing down…
