(Episode 13)
I placed a call to our property agent immediately after changing the dollars to Naira and we started going around to inspect some lands.
After one week of going around with the agent, I finally found a good table and accessible land that I liked in the heart of town
But when I instructed my lawyer to carry out some investigations on the land before making payment, we discovered that the same land had already been paid for by two different people
And the unresolved case has been lingering in court for years..
I had to run four forty from such problem land.
Me and the agent embarked on a total new search again the next day until we eventually found a problem free land of 200sqm
and I paid for it on my lawyer’s instruction…
(Although this other land is a little bit in the outskirt of town but I am fine with it because it does not have any court case lol).
When I returned home from where I went to pay for the land,
my sisters told me that Mike came to look for me
I began to wonder why he came to look for me,
It didn’t sound funny at all because me and Mike has not been on good talking terms since after our last encounter the day I resumed work after my marriage…… that is over a year ago.
Moreover, he saw me in the office earlier today before I took permission from my boss to go and complete my land transaction, why didn’t he talk to me then?🤔
I was still wondering why Mike came to look for me
when I heard my door bell ring,
One of my sisters horribly went to check it out,
Shortly I heard…..
“Is she not yet back?” And it was Mike’s voice
I didn’t want him to come into my house
So before my sister could reply “she is back” or let him in,
I quickly shouted who is that? in a very angry tone…..
Don’t let the person in, he should wait for me at the door am coming
It was truly Mike at the door when I got there.
As soon as he saw me, he started smiling but I kept my strict face and asked
How may I help you Mr Mike?
He said “won’t you let me in?”
I said no, say what you want here!
Then he started begging me to please forgive him,
That he would have never thought of leaving me in his life time if not for his parent, and he is still regretting it because
He has never stopped loving me.
I just shouted him to get out of my house and never return,
I don’t ever want to have anything to do with him again
He wanted going down on his knees to beg me before I shut the door on his face and instructed my sisters never to let him anywhere around our house again.
Three days later, I went to the office and saw a notice from the commissioner of education saying that,
some of us senior staffs has been selected and will be paired to go to rural areas for monitoring and supervision of schools!
It didn’t seem like a problem to me because this is not the first time I have been going to the schools in rural areas for monitoring and supervision
But it became a problem when the pairing list came out and I was paired with Mike.🙄
Ahhhhhhh, what kind of temptation is this na?
I asked myself as I ran into my boss’s office and started pleading with him to pair me with any other person but not Mike.
He said👇
“Stella I can’t change anything in that list,
The pairing was not done by me but by the commissioner himself, so we all have to take it like that and follow the instructions……
Just go and meet your partner Mike so that you both can decide on when to move and how to be carrying out your assignments in the designated areas”
I went back to my office looking very disappointed,
Suddenly Mike ran in, looking all happy and asking if I have seen the pairing list already but I didn’t say a word to him
Then he started begging me to put our differences behind
so that we can both join our efforts and do a great job in the field because promotion awaits any pair that will come back with genuine and concrete report!
After so much pleading, I had no other option than to put the past behind me but I warned him sternly never to derail from work matters and he accepted!
