Behind The Fine Face episode 17

BEHIND THE FINE FACE

EPISODE 17
.
“…Rachel has been extremely vulnerable because she already has the evil eye fixed on her. You passed on to her, everything evil your aunt had planted in you over the years during your first sexual encounter. It was sealed after that. You were destined to have the lowest level of success among your contemporaries. No matter how many others were successful in the same industry as you, nothing you ever touched was guaranteed to succeed.”
.
Prophet U.C. Kenneth spoke extensively. He spoke as if he were only closing his eyes and watching my previous existence. He kept going on and on about everything that had happened to me with Rachel, things I’d assumed were random and things I’d never thought important enough to have demanded special attention, with eye-opening, hair-raising, jaw-dropping insights.
.
Prophet U.C. Kenneth informed me that Uncle T had passed away that evening, following a visit from the powers opposed to Rachel and me; the same bad forces that had initially contacted the spiritual father and caused him to lie in order to get rid of Bobby and Rachel.
.
“Your aunty did not kill her brother (Uncle T), in any case not directly. She didn’t have to. The moment she sorted out the help of these dark sides to keep you toiling without ever reaping anything substantial, was the day she granted them control over every aspect of your life. Anyone who want to rid you of all your issues has already started a war with them, and if they aren’t as powerful, they will always suffer the same end as your uncle.”
.
Prophet U.C. Kenneth went on to explain how Rachel had left our marriage, carrying what I’d deposited in her into her marriage with Bobby.
.
“Your present wife is everything a virtuous woman should be. She is the reason you think Rachel has been the problem. She is highly prayerful; specially gifted. When she calls out to God in worship, the heavens open eagerly to receive her prayer requests. She gives alms a lot, and that alone has been responsible for opening doors for you.” Prophet U.C. Kenneth said to me, with a slim smile cracking his lips.
.
“Indeed, Rachel needs to have her head washed. She needs to be baptized.”
.
Rachel was neck deep inside the nearest river we could find, moments later.

Prophet U.C. Kenneth declared us free afterwards.
.
Having been cautioned to mind my own business and not to let my aunty know what I already knew about her evil plot for me, I left Prophet U.C. Kenneth’s office that day with a mindset. I intended to keep as far away from Aunty Esther as I could. But as I mentioned, she has raised me in a way that my real mother never could, so it will be very challenging.
.
Bobby and Rachel thanked Prophet U.C. Kenneth before we departed, shortly after Rachel’s baptism.
.
I got home that evening, exhausted, with a lot on my mind.

Grace’s warm embrace reminded me of what home; what peace felt like.
.
That evening, I made the decision to tell Grace the truth (my wife). Without omitting a single detail, I told her everything I had experienced over the years; about Bobby and all that I knew.
.
Grace watched my lips as they struggled to find the right words. She remained silent.
.
I continued to tell the story as Grace remained unfazed even during the scariest parts. Not even after I informed her of what the Prophet had said regarding Aunty Esther, the aunt who is the closest to me and whom she is well acquainted with.
.
Grace took it a step further when, after I finished speaking, she stood up, still without saying a word, and simply went into the bathroom to take a shower.
.
At first, I assumed that all I’d said must have been too much for Grace to take in.
.
“Baby, aren’t you going to say anything about all I’ve just told you?” I queried.

Grace walked past me, going about her business, before she finally entered the bathroom for that shower.
.
After exiting the bathroom, Grace started to cream her body. She appeared perfectly normal the entire time, but I should have known better and recognized that something was wrong.
.
That night, I went to bed trusting my assumption that Grace was simply absorbing all I had said.

Around midnight, however, a tap on my shoulder awoke me to Grace’s stern glare.

To be continued…
