BEHIND THE FINE FACE
EPISODE 16

“Your situation is the ideal illustration of how even infants inherit adversaries. There is more animosity between your aunt and your mother than you can possibly comprehend. For one reason or another, she has always been envious of your mother. Those two were close growing up. Their distinctive characteristics gradually become apparent. To your aunty’s chagrin, your mother is more attractive and appears to attract all the wonderful people;guys who showered her with the nicest things in life.”

I never took my eyes off the lips of Prophet U.C. Kenneth. I couldn’t help but feel impatient despite how exciting his story was and how much I loved every second of this obviously manufactured recital.
I was most eager to learn how I had contributed to Rachel’s troubles and, more importantly, what my aunt had to do with any of them.

“When your father made the decision to wed your mother, it was the final straw for your aunt. Your aunty had been dating her boyfriend (at the time) for a little over five years, but there was no indication that he would propose any time soon, unlike your father, who had only recently met your mother and had already made a proposal. This shouldn’t normally have been an issue, right? But the jealousy that the devil sowed in your aunt’s head had started to grow. It grew so well, hence the reason you turned out the way you have.”

I almost called Prophet U.C. Kenneth out at this moment. I wanted to sing about what a terrific liar he is in front of everyone. “How have i turned out? I grew up just fine”. My lips were already prepared for my next words, so I didn’t even need to practice them.
However, just as I was about to speak, Prophet U.C. Kenneth interrupted.

“… You don’t think any of these are real, do you? You wonder what any of this has to do with Rachel. You think you grew up just fine, unless the one time you had that glitch with your finances, one that was soon resolved immediately after you divorced Rachel, right?” Prophet U.C. Kenneth asked, smiling as though at my naivety. “Because your mother got everything your aunt assumed was good and should have been hers the whole time, she decided to deprive the apple of her eye, the pleasure of getting the best things in life as well. Unfortunately, that’s you. And one of those things she fingered was your ever being a girl’s first.” Prophet U.C. Kenneth uttered those words, letting out a lean smile as he looked towards Rachel and then returned the gaze to me.

Bobby was speechless the whole time. I could only have imagined what was going on in his head.
Rachel was likewise silent. But unlike Bobby, she was clearly attentive to whatever Prophet U.C. Kenneth said because her expression brightened as soon as she heard the man utter those words (one of those things she pointed out was you ever being a girl’s first).
Rachel turned to look at Bobby, but he (Bobby) had been focusing on me the entire time.

On the other hand, I found it impossible to think clearly. I was so engrossed in my own thoughts that I forgot to worry about what was going on around me.
At this time, the only thing I wanted was for this story to already be over.

“When I periodically stand at that podium to deliver a sermon, one of the lessons I try to impart to the youth of nowadays is that having sex at random is not something you should do. The danger of it cannot be overemphasized. In addition to being ungodly, premarital sex has so many spiritual ties that, when your eyes are opened to just a few of them, you’ll be amazed at the danger you often take merely to let off steam.” Prophet U.C. Kenneth spoke while gazing at me and acting as though he knew all about my past life. “During sex, a special kind of link is created. Because of this, God has saved intercourse for after marriage. Either your partner is passing something to you or you are passing something to your partner during this act. Sadly, Rachel’s first sexual experience was you in your situation. The spell your aunty had set upon you the day she pulled you up from that cot was made potent the night you disvirgined your bride. Being married implies beginning a new life of hopefully endless joy, so what other way can a man’s life be damaged than by making him helpless at a time when he should be beginning to tap into God’s glory? A wife is a fantastic thing for a man to find, but your aunt made sure it would be the exact opposite for you…”
“…But as soon as I wed my new spouse and separated from Rachel, every closed door began to open.” I muttered, completely bewildered.
Prophet U.C. Kenneth chuckled and said, “Or so you think.”

Those words immediately got my heart racing. I had no idea why. The demeanor at which the prophet had let out that chuckle, signified “more”, and this somehow terrified me.
So I hoped and prayed that whatever it was, the deliverance I had just experienced would have taken care of it.

“But Rachel got married to Bobby, and the same thing that’d happened while she was with me happened to him…”
“…Yes. That’s exactly what I was trying to explain. We encourage singles to refrain from having premarital sex because of this. They use condoms to purportedly protect themselves from STDs and unintended pregnancies, but in reality, they expose themselves to numerous spiritual energies by doing so (depending on how many partners they indulge with). Rachel has been extremely vulnerable because she already has the evil eye fixed on her before she met you…
