Few days later. I invited Adaobi over for a visit again, she came this time alone. I was so happy when she came alone.

“You are welcome to my home, the previous visits I had no time to entertain you well, but this time, I planned on making it worth your time, feel free to take whatever you want okay not as a visitor though.”

“Thank you Ikemba!” she responded.

“Soft drink will be okay,” she replied still feeling shy, I was filled with joy as I rushed to the kitchen, brought out the apple juice I got earlier, got a clean glass cup, opened the juice and poured in the drugs Ibudu gave me, closed it back tightly shake it to avoid an suspicions.

I retreated back to the other room with the juice and glass cup in my hand. I gently dropped it on the table, opened it and poured it for Adaobi, I also poured for myself but made sure I wasn’t drinking from it, I handed her glass of drink and took mine we started conversing, looking at her all the time with the blim of my glasses, she took a sip from the drink,

“Waoh! This is so refreshing.” she complimented me.

“Thank you,” I answered her. few minutes to our conversation, she started feeling drowsy, I kept her engaged in the conversation playing ignorant of her behavior, after some times, she stopped fighting the sleep, gave in and laid down on my bed. I on my part became so excited, everything within me became awake.

I stared at her, the more I stared at her the more I got tempted, licking my lips several times like a dog which just finish eating after being starved for many days. I keep on looking at her skin, her beautiful laps and lips sprayed on my bed I couldn’t resist anymore, I turned the lock knop on my door, returned back to her with my heart pounding heavily.

I was about giving myself a chance to think what next to do but I was interrupted with a hard and merciless knock on my door. My brain wasn’t thinking but I had to do something, I went straight ahead and opened the door. It was Tina standing there in full suspicion,

“Where is Adaobi?” she inquired imediately I opened the door, her eyes scanning the place before I could say anything she saw her lifeless friend sprayed on my bed.

“Oh my gosh! Ikemba!” she rushed towards her,

“What happened, what have you done to her?” She asked sobing.

Her sobs now turned to a wail, after shaking Adaobi several times and she didn’t respond. She wailed harder which brought my neighbours all out rushing to come and see the cause of commotion in my apartment.

All of them trouping into my room, when they saw the lifeless body, cameras were brought out, phone calls were made, all eyes were on me, everyone were questioning me at once, I knew there and then that I was going to have a very long day.

I could not mutter any words, I just kept staring at everybody as if I was not there in my body, Tina called Adaobi’s parents unknowingly to me, her father is the General Commandant Of Army Division.

Every one was instructed to stay where they are and not moved, in no time, her parents arrived with his forces, Adaobi was rushed to the hospital while everyone in the building were evacuated for questioning.

Parents were called, releases were made, english was spoken.

Man knew man, bribe was taken but I had no one to come to my rescue.

Different test were carried out on Adaobi, some narcotic substances were found in her system, they also discovered that she was raped and the sperm through test was discovered to mine.

The doctors battled to save Adaobi’s life while I was in custody. My parents only visited once, due to shame and reproach I have reduced them to a thing of mockery, my father shut down his shop, my mother would not leave the house on during the day due to shame and gossip of the people.

Adaobi’s life was saved by the doctors but she is going through a pathetic traumatization time and shortage of blood.

The doctors said Adaobi will be fine soon as she is undergoing treatment with well qualified therapist in the country. I was sued and charge with drug, rape and attempted murder of Adaobi.

During my questioning in jail, I mentioned Ibudu as the backbone behind everything, when he was brought for questioning, he denied every allegations placed on him, with the help of his mother he was able to bribe his way out of jail and his mother sent him abroad immediately the case was closed against him.

I was sentenced to twenty-five years imprisonment with hard labour. That is how I ended up my once bright and promising future, while in jail a letter was sent to me from the University, announcing my rustication and termination of ever furthering my education in any universities within the
country.

I blamed myself for everything that has happened to me. During this my wilderness experience, my friend Prince, came to visit me, he cried when he found out how Ibudu has ended up destroying my destiny, I asked for his forgiveness which he did forgive me but was really grieved about my predicament world
