PETER’S POV
I was feeling so confident knowing fully well that I am well dressed… I got to Vicky’s house and she yelled surprise… And started singing Happy birthday song along with some of the friends, I was so surprised because I didn’t even remember it was my birthday…
while there were singing the “Happy birthday song” Vicky was busy eyeing me with her corner eye, I didn’t mind because I know she was already very happy seeing me this dressed… After there finish singing she dragged me to the kitchen and started scolding me… What kind of rubbish are you wearing? She said… Me looking confused, what do you mean?
“Are you asking me? you are looking like a “traditional marriage cake” Peter, do you think I was inviting you for a carnival or something?” She said…
I was so angry at this point and told her I was actually preparing this outfit for my village visit but I decided to make this great sacrifice by wearing it today because she told me to look good and this is the thank you I get from her?
Why do you find pleasure in embarrassing me each time I ask you to visit or take you out? The other day, I took you to an eatery… You picked every single rice from the plate and was licking your hands like a mad man after eating chicken that has no sauce on it… Peter, I am no longer enjoying your careless attitude, imagine what it took me to organize a birthday party for you and having you appearing like this and all sweaty… Why are you sweating? She asked…
I ignored the question because I know if she knows the reason, she will push me out of her house. I quickly said…
Please baby, I thought this will make you happy as I did my best to look good for you… If I do something you don’t like always tell me so we can find solutions to it. Maybe I don’t know how to combine my clothes, it’s your responsibility to teach me and I promise to be a fast learner… I know you love me and I will be a very stupid man to do things that hurts you. You mean the world to me, I can do anything to make you happy my love… Forgive all my short comings and make me the man you want me to be… I am willing to learn everything that makes you happy…
She looked at me with tears in her eyes and she embraced me… For my mind, “I was like, shey na movie be this abi na wetin? Peter who teach you this thing weh you just talk?”
She looked into my eyes and told me she loves me so much and she’s sorry for lashing out… I just care about you so much and wouldn’t want my friends to be laughing at you…she said.
I am in a relationship with you and not your friends, never give your friends the opportunity to have a say in our relationship… The relationship is between me and you and let’s always try to talk things out and make it work! Some guys out there may have the good sense of dressing but may not have other qualities you see in me… Please always discuss things with me and I promise to adjust, you don’t have to scold to make me understand your feelings okay?
Yes my love she said, and told me my shirt is fine…I smiled and told her thank you.
We joined her friends in the sitting room and the only thing those wicked ladies were concern about was the way I look… One even said, I am looking so much like the her village masquerade…I slept over at her place but woke up in the morning feeling uncomfortable and was thinking of what do when Vicky told me she just got a call from home and if I will like to go with her, I quickly said No.
I will be heading home now baby I said… Okay baby she said and told me she may pass by my place later that day. Her evil friends were busy smiling and waving me bye, I just ignore them and left.
I got home and saw Agnes outside washing her clothes…
Good morning sir she quickly greeted,
how are you? I said
Fine sir…
I left her and went into my room to remove my clothe… I came out some minutes later and noticed Akor’s, door was open. I went into his room and got the shock of my life…

Episode 22

Immediately I entered the room I saw Akor shivering on his bed with his eyes closed… I touched him and his body was as hot as a coal of fire. I yelled his name but his eyes was still closed. I started shouting and calling neighbours for help… Agnes and some other neighbors came to my aid…
We bundled Akor into a vehicle and took him to the hospital… Immediately we got to the hospital he was taken to the emergency unit and I waited outside praying for him since I was not allowed to go in… Agnes was also standing outside with me seemingly worried. I remembered what Akor told me yesterday and I decided to get some information out of her regarding Akor’s condition…
Agnes, did you serve him dinner last night?
Yes she said…
Hope you didn’t poison my friend I asked…
No o, I didn’t… Please don’t think I have hands in his condition. After I gave him the food, he asked if I could spend the night with him but but…
But what? Speak up young lady… I said
Ehmm… He told me to spend the night with him but when I was ready and tried to enter his room, I was already hearing another woman’s voice in the room with him… They were even gisting and laughing out really loud, so I had to go back to my room. She said
Did you see anyone entering his room or leaving the room this morning?
I actually woke up very early and sat outside to see who the lady is but no one came out of his room or went in until you came. She said…
Hmmmm Akor!!! You will never learn!
One of the doctor came out of the emergency room and I rushed to ask him about Akor, he told me he was a bit stable… I asked, what was wrong with him and he told me nothing was found from the diagnosis but he will be fine…
I was a bit relieved! Agnes has already gone home and it was just me at the hospital with Akor… Soon after the doctor left a nurse came to me and asked if I am the one that brought Akor, I told her I am the one… She asked me to go and collect card. I said okay, running there to collect because I was thinking I don’t need to pay money.
I went there and told the lady there that one nurse asked me to come to her and collect card… She asked for the patient information and I gave her all the details I know and she gave me a paper and told me to go and pay in the next office and come back for the card…
When she asked me to go and pay, I quickly told her that is one nurse that send me to come and collect card, and she didn’t tell me anything about money… She explained to me I need to pay for it and I was very angry because I didn’t plan to touch the money I made from my birthday yesterday…
I paid for the card and took it to the lady… She gave me a small card and told me to go and meet the nurse that directed me to her…
I quickly went to the emergency unit to look for the nurse, luckily I saw her in one of the wards close to the emergency room. She was talking to someone, when I went closer to her I saw that it was Akor she was talking to… Thank God you are alive I said in excitement… Akor, looked at me and started crying.
The nurse asked for the card, I gave it to her and she told me she will be back.
I went close to Akor to know why he was crying but he was quiet… What can I do since he doesn’t want to talk. I then ask him if he can please pay me back the money I used to collect the card. Akor, looked at me and shook his head.
I asked him again why he’s crying and what happened to him, immediately he tried to open his mouth and say something… his eyes pooped out and he held my shirt and told me “she’s coming for me”… Who is coming for you?… He pointed at the door, I was so scared and I started covering only myself with the “Blood of Jesus”…. See her over there Akor screamed and out of fear I started urinating on my body… Peter please I don’t want to die Akor said and….
