😯THE TURN AROUND 9 😯
She turned around to look if there was someone else in the house but the only one standing behind her was David. She quickly wiped her face with her hands. “Did u just call my name?” she asked trying to be sure of her self. “Yes, I did. is everything alright?” he replied.
“yes… yes… I’m fine. oh my God” she sniffed, trying to put herself together “how long have u been standing there?” she asked
“long enough to know that you’re not okay”. He replied.
“Forget about that. Come, sit down”. She gestured to him a seat. “u don’t know how happy I am right now. U can now talk, let me call the doctor.” She got her phone and informed the doctor of the good news. He advised her to take him out instead of keeping him in the house, to see places, maybe that may help him to remember something. So she took David out to different places, they talked, she asked him some questions to know if he could remember anything but he still couldn’t. He made her laugh over and over again. She had never felt such happiness in her life before.
They came back home and got talking and laughing again. Minutes later Bright walked into the house. He walked passed them without saying a word. “Welcome” Sandra greeted. “Thanks” he mumbled and went upstairs.
“who’s he?” David asked. “oh. Him? he’s my husband.” she smiled. “What’s his name?” he asked again. “Bright. Mr Bright. I guess he just had a bad day today that’s why he’s like that. But he’s nice”. she replied with a little smile. Bright came out again “U shouldn’t be leaving the doors opened. Come here my love”. he opened both hands wide to embrace Sandra. She rushed in his arms. “oh, the door, I forgot.”.
David cleared his throat letting them know that he was there “Good evening Mr Bright” he greeted. “wow! finally u now talk. Such a goodnews! uhm on behalf of my wife i still want to say sorry for wat happened. She can’t even hurt a fly to be honest, it just happened. What name can we call u?”. Bright smiled.”
David sighed. “it’s okay, it was an accident. Your wife gave me a name Michael. She’s been nice to me. You’re lucky to have such a sweet woman beside u”. He said calmly.
Bright frowned a bit “oh yes, and I’m a good husband as well”. he retorted.
1 months pasted. Sandra and David were going along well. David was already aware of the ill treatment that Sandra has been getting from Bright, despite how she tried to hide it. Each time David tries to confront her about it, she gets upset and shuns him even before he starts “it’s none of ur business, don’t u dare interface in what does not concerns u!” she always warns him.
Some nights the sound of Sandra’s voice will wake him up but he wouldn’t do anything cos she has warned him to stay away. David sat down in thoughts “what can I do? i want to help her but how can I help her when I can’t even help myself? this lady is suffering. she wouldn’t even let me understand anything. what do I do..?”

David’s thought was interrupted by the noise of a vehicle passing by🚕. He quickly realized that had been standing while waiting for Sandra at the car pack. She had asked him to accompany her to the supermarket to get some things. “Michael, Michael..” she called him. “come help me with these and let’s go”. she said, handing him a Lylon. He carried them to the boot.
They got home and Sandra went to prepare dinner🍛, David assisted her with the cooking.
When they were done, she served the food. They ate and watched a movie.
After sometime, Bright came back from work and sighted them👀. Sandra rushed to help him with his briefcase “Welcome dear”. But he resisted and walked out on her. She quickly hurried and set Bright’s food on the table. “why’s he like that? I hope all is well today” David asked her.
“I don’t know” She replied.
Bright was up stairs looking at them from below. “Sandra, we need to talk now.” he commanded. “okay I’m coming”. She went up stairs while David turned off the TV and went to his room.
As she walked into the room, she trembled at the sight of Bright’s furious face. “you called me… hope all is well?”. Sandra asked. “All is not well Sandra. You were in church yesterday right?”. he asked. “yes I was”. she replied. “what did u tell the pastor’s wife about me?” he asked again. “Nothing… I mean nothing bad” she replied again. “Sandra, just hear urself, u are so ungrateful! so after all I do for u, u still have the effrontery to discuss me with the Pastor’s wife. Is she holier than God? worst of all letting her know that I’m a monster, isn’t it? Are u that stupid?” he quarrelled. “Bright I never called u a monster” she retorted. “No, that’s what it is now.. That’s what she thinks of me now” he said. “Bright look at my face, are these bruises not obvious? she has been asking several times and I keep lying to her, I just didn’t know what lie to tell her this time… but I never called u names…” she replied. The fact that Sandra had revealed the truth to the pastor’s wife, got Bright mad. “oh shut up! why didn’t u tell her u fell off the stairs or something? u want to spoil my name abi..?” he quarrelled again
“No it’s not the way u see it am…” she tired to defend herself but he caught her off “Enough!! U know what, just get out.” he spoke
“Bright… don’t do this na. Today is Valentine’s day, pls. I made ur favorite cookies and cocktail just the way you like…” Sandra tried persuading him. “I said get out, to hell with the cookies. I don’t want to see u here” he repeated.
“but this is our room, where do u want me to sleep” she retorted. “sleep in the guest room, B.Q, or the roof, wherever! Just get urself out of here now. Don’t let me hit u, I said get out!!”. He dragged her out and slammed the door. She sighed and went to the sitting room. She sat down for awhile and then went to the dinning, took a glass of water, she put some ice block in it and drank gently as tears rolled down her chick. She fell asleep.
David came out to take water from the kitchen when he saw her asleep. He woke her up and she hurriedly went back upstairs back to Bright.
Hours later, David woke up as he heard the screams of Sandra again. This time he just couldn’t take it anymore, so he stepped out of his room upstairs. He could hear Bright say “I’ll kill u one day if u don’t take time”. And Sandra replies “God forbid!”
David knocked at the door. “Mr Bright pls open up!” he banged the door repeatedly until Bright opened the door…..
