It was a hot day, and I was helping my brother clean out his room. I saw his brief case and decided to see if There will be money to pilfer there. As I went through some old files, I came across a manila folder labeled “personal.”
Curiosity got the better of me, and I opened the folder. Inside, I found a test result from a fertility clinic. My brother’s name was at the top, and the test results showed that he was infertile. I was stunned. I had never known that my brother had been struggling with infertility. And I couldn’t help but wonder how it must have affected him, and his wife. I put the test result back in the folder.
All I did with Sonia was to help my brother have a child but when I discovered that he doesn’t value the woman God gave to him, I changed my plans to marry her and make her happy and I did what I did.
I turned to my Brother “ Can you deny any of the things I have said?” I asked him. He kept mute as he blinks his eyes.
“So you were going through all these Bode and you didn’t tell me anything?” Mom shouted. He kept mute for some seconds before breaking his silence as tears dripped down his cheeks:
“I wanted to tell you and Dad but I didn’t want to end up being a subject of mockery” Brother Bode said and one of our uncles reiterated “Subject of mockery? Bode how can you keep such a thing to yourself?” He said.
Brother Bode continued “ I think it’s the right time everyone say and know the truth.”
He turned to mom “Mummy, Who is our Biological Father?” He asked her. She was shocked by this question as she stammers.
“ what sort of question is that Bode? Of course, I am your biological father.” Dad defended mom.

Brother Bode smiled sheepishly as he continued “ The truth is, I got to know a very long time ago that You are not my biological father. In fact, That was the reason why I took you to the hospital some years ago when I lied to you that I wanted them to do a general Medical check up on you. It was all lies but a strategy to get your blood sample for a DNA test.
The result of the DNA test left a scar in my heart that I will never forget and that’s the fact that you are not my Father” Brother Bode said.
Everyone was shocked. I opened my mouth in awe as everything looked puzzled to me.
Dad turned to Mom, “Tell me he is not saying the truth Honey!” Dad said to Mom. She shivers as she stammers at the same time.
“I am sorry Badmus, All I did was for your own good”, She said as she continued:
“ Remember we had issue regarding birthing a child about 40 something years ago?” She asked Her husband who gave her a sharp response because he was getting upset, “Yes, and God later answered our prayers”.
She continued:
“Yes, God did but it wasn’t through you. I am sorry I had to hid the truth from you all these years. I think it’s high time I spoke the truth.” She sighed deeply as she continued “It all started when we couldn’t birth a child after 10 years of marriage and pressure keeps coming from your family members that if I didn’t give birth they will throw me out of the house. I couldn’t afford to lose you because I really suffered with you. You kept on taking us to the same doctor over and over for fertility check up and this same doctor keeps saying ‘there was nothing wrong with us’. I smelled foul play when the pressure was too much for me to handle and I went to see the doctor in his house to interrogate him and convince him to tell me the real results of the test he had been conducting on us” she paused as she breathes in.
“Ehn ehn.. what happened next?” Dad shouted in frustration. As she continued in tears.
