EPISODE 4 FINAL

While the others trailed the girl inside, Efe quickly reversed back to meet their commander, who was standing a few distance away, armed with a loaded gun. “Yes anything?” he interrogated Efe. “Abeg, I dey pressed. I need to pee,” Efe replied, trying to act nonchalant. The commander instructed him to follow, and Efe complied, leading him to the back of one of the parked cars. It was at this moment that Efe sabotaged the plan by discreetly dragging the leader’s gun with him.

They both struggled until efe finally gained control of the weapon and swiftly tossed it to the other end. If it were someone else, they might have shot him right then and there. Efe never wanted to engage in anything evil, which is why he refrained from using the gun. As their commander went after the weapon, Efe hastily climbed and jumped over the fence, sprinting away as fast as he could without looking back.

That was how he resisted the urge to join the gangs. He distanced himself from them and found a hiding spot under a mango tree in a secluded bush. He remained there for a while, not hearing from or interacting with them. Eventually, he decided it was best to relocate to a different place where he was absolutely certain he would be safe. Which was a kitchen that was just framed with wood and Local Zinc. Lucky for him there are some fire left in the firewood ashes that he could use to warm himself. He warned himself and slept there till the next morning.

The following day, efe began to starve and the place was not familiar to him at all, looking at where he is and comparing it to where he came from was totally different. “I’m just a village boy still helping my parents and managing myself. How did I get to this unfamiliar place.” Various thoughts raced through his mind as he aimlessly wandered around. He had even lost his shirt, leaving him only in a pair of ragged denim shorts.

The first man he met was a butcher that was selling meat. “Oga abeg where am I?” “This is Ejughor and you’re almost close to the market that usually holds on Friday which is tomorrow.” He answered him.

Efe decided to leave the area and resorted to begging for food and financial assistance, desperate to find a way back home. Unfortunately, no one seemed willing to lend him an ear, until a well-known man in the area approached him. The man showed genuine concern and inquired about Efe’s situation. Finding sympathy in the man’s eyes, Efe poured his heart out, explaining everything to him.

To Efe’s surprise, the man offered his assistance by teaching him how to drive a car and also told him that he could call him Mr Ibrahim. Understanding the value of the opportunity, Efe gratefully accepted the offer.

Mr. Ibrahim took Efe to a driving school where he learned the necessary skills for several months. As Efe perfected his driving abilities, Mr. Ibrahim saw potential in him and offered him a job as his new driver and created a savings account for him. Mr. Ibrahim explained that his previous driver had been untrustworthy and disobedient. He commended Efe, calling him a good man and expressing his desire to work with someone as hardworking and diligent as him. Although Mr. Ibrahim was a wealthy man, that works in an óil company, he didn’t boast nor flaunt his riches. He preferred modesty and was not one to be seen in expensive clothing nor extravagant attire.

Ibrahim’s family members grew fond of Efe and treated him as one of their own. Efe was incredibly fortunate, as the good fortune that blessed the family seemed to extend to him as well. Within a mere four years of staying with them, Efe’s bank account amassed millions. Mr. Ibrahim, in recognition of Efe’s unwavering dedication and excellent work ethic, would occasionally reward him with substantial amounts of money. Through his driving job alone, Efe achieved a millionaire status that seemed unimaginable before.

After some years, Efe took a break from working for Mr. Ibrahim and decided to visit his village. To his surprise, he discovered that his mother was the only one still struggling to make a living. She tearfully explained that his father had tragically passed away after being bitten by a snake, unable to survive the attack. In addition, she revealed that Kate had confessed to attempting to harm Efe using dark spiritual powers and had been suffering from mental illness for many years. Overwhelmed with emotions, Efetebore knelt down and began to cry thinking about the old days that he usually use to spend time with his father in his farm. He cried and cried blaming himself for everything.

“Efe later assured his mother, ‘As long as I am alive, you will never have to suffer again. Pack your belongings, because tomorrow we are leaving this place. Leaving means saying goodbye to poverty forever, Mommy.'”

Due to his dad’s dèmise , he made the decision to stay in the village for that day and paid some tribute on his father’s gràve and also surrounded the place with flowers. The next day, they gathered few of their belongings and loaded them into Efe’s car, started the car’s engine and began to drive. However, to their surprise, a mentally unstable lady suddenly ran onto the road, laughing and talking to herself, with both hands placed on top of their car. When their mother looked closely she confirmed her to be her daughter.

Efe’s mother couldn’t help control her emotions but to cry. Looking at a grown up girl like her that she carried for 9 good months unable to live a wonderful life all because of envy and jealousy. At that age,no husband, no child no one to even regard as a friend just there. Before we could try and call her she instantly turned and sped off. Both of they were just there crying.

Looking at her disheveled appearance alone, one might not recognize her as a sister. Her body stings terribly. Her face bore was filled with thick wrinkles, with smudges and stains resembling food stamps. The makeshift nylon skirt she wore revealed glimpses of her inner body, as it was torn to the point where half of her áss and her left breàst were exposed.. Or is it when it comes to her hair? Which is filled with sand, and all sorts of unimaginable things. They drove off after sympathizing and crying for a while and that was how efe took his mother along and changed her life. They never returned back to the village.

It is essential to reflect upon the tragic tale of Cain and Abel, where envy became the driving force behind a terrible act of violence. Envy and jealousy leads to profound emptiness and zero progress in life. It is vital to recognize that some of life’s challenges can create opportunities for positive change and progress to come your way. Let us not emulate Kate, who was consumed by envy towards her own brother, nor Abel, who felt envious of his siblings.
