EPISODE 2

“This is wonderful please celebrate Mrs. Maryam” The Moderator praised her and called the next speaker “With a standing ovation please welcome Professor Sophia Ime”. The congregation stood up clapping their hands.

“Thank you all, kindly take your seat, thank you Mrs. Maryam for that wonderful speech. Brethren we can’t be talking about stars and not talk about light. The scripture says we are the light of the world a city set on the hill cannot be hidden. If you believe you are a star then why hide under your scar. Come off it, the world is incomplete without your impact. Those scars are simply there to make your star shine brighter. May I ask you, when do stars shine?
“At Night” the congregation echoed.
“Good, star shines at night that means you are supposed to shine even in your darkest moment.” The congregation stood up clapping “Listen, aside from physical scars we have emotional scars too a lot of people out there are suffering from this. I Sophia Ime suffered it too” She took a deep breath “I am a product of rape” tears rose to her eyes “I don’t know my father, my mum was raped at the age of 14, she became pregnant, and gave birth to me. I’ve been called bastard a thousand times. At a time I attempted suicide, I blamed my mum for not aborting me. But thank God for today. I don’t want to know the emotional scar you are living with but please come out of it, take off the challenge! You can do it!” She wiped her tears “Just an illustration before I drop the mic, look at your palm closely, spread the fingers if you can, you’ll see the shape of a Star, or am I the only one seeing that, now on the palm you’ll see some marks on them, those marks you see equal scars, that is to tell you that stars and scars are inseparable reasons why in the olden days when they want to look into a child’s future they look at the marks on their palm. Stop struggling to shine you are a star.” she dropped the mic. The congregation yelled as she walked back to her royal seat.

“Thank God I came” Imma sighed deeply

“On your seat, bow down your head and talk to God, tell him you are letting go of the pains. Ask him to help you, for by strength shall no man prevail, remember Is not of he that wills nor of he that runs but of God that shows mercy. Celebrate our speakers once again” The moderator ended the conference by presenting awards to some star-stunned personalities invited to the conference.

“I will get that award someday,” Imma said with full assurance.
He turned to the lady and asked the mother her name
“She bears Rebecca”

Professor Sophia sighted Imma and walked up to him.
“Hello darling, how are you?”
“I’m fine” Imma leaped with Joy.
“You are special and I want you to know that” she said and turned back to leave.
“Please ma I would love to take a picture with you”
“No problem” Gladys snapped them.
“She said I’m special” Imma repeated happily

“Shall we leave” Gladys said as they headed back home with Rebecca and her mum, Gladys served them fried rice, and she watched them eat hungrily.
“Please help me to package raw food for them” Imma whispered to Gladys
“No, I can’t do that”
Imma begged her, and she agreed reluctantly. Rebecca signaled she needed more food. She was eating when Imma’s Mum bashed in.
“What the hell is going on here?”
“Mum meet my friend, Rebecca and her Mum,” Imma said smiling
“Friend my foot, when did you start that nonsense, My God so this is what you have been doing if I’m away” She slapped Gladys
“No madam” she went on her knees
“Mum stop!” Imma screamed
Mrs. Davidson hit the plate on Rebecca who was still eating. Her Mum dragged her and ran out immediately.
“Gladys before I open my eyes get up and leave my house don’t ever come back!”
“Mum you are hurting me” Imma cried
