My spiritual wife episode 25

MY SPIRITUAL WIFE
EPISODE 25
.
You were with Jasmine the entire time, weren’t you? Janet asked, with an eye burning with rage.
.
The cold that ran down my spine at that very moment was indescribable. I stood frozen, hands shaking, mouth agape, eyes blinking as though something had just fallen into it. I stood startled as though Janet was suddenly a monster that’d appeared out of nowhere and my current spellbound exhibition was as a result.
.
“Are you suddenly dumb, Paul?” Janet asked, with fire burning in her eyes.

I’d never seen this version of Janet before. It wasn’t pretty.
.
Janet suddenly seemed different. The sound of her voice no longer sounded the usual. It had a little of an echo in it. It was as though two voices, repeating the same thing. I was engulfed with fear. So much so that I opened my mouth to say something; anything at all, but stutter was the other of my day.
.
I was finally able to open my mouth to say something, but my mind kept telling me not to shoot myself on the foot. “I have come this far in this lie, why not just see the lie through to the end?” I thought to myself.
.
There was still no giving up for me, after all, “do I know who this Jasmine she’s talking about is?”
.
Janet asked one more time and before she could complete the question, I answered; retorting…”Yes, baby. I was. I was with Jasmine. She was even the one that got me a place to plug the phone. She was the nurse on duty and the person assigned to Kenneth…”

Janet didn’t allow me to complete that sentence. She knew I was a pathological liar. She knew that the “pathology” in my lies was with grade. She knew that I was not prepared to admit to what she (somehow) knew for a fact was true to be true and, as such, dropped it, for what she thought was more important.
.
“Paul! I have told you before now and I am repeating it again. I’ll never share you with another; I can’t. I warned you right from the start, but I supposed you presumed them to be mere words; to be just the usual girl rant, right?” Janet asked.
.
I knew very well that that question was rhetorical, but I still made an attempt to rebuttal, even though Janet didn’t give me the chance to…
.
“I am giving you between now and twelve, to end whatever you already have going on with Jasmine, else, Paul…”

Janet did not complete that statement.
.
Janet seemed very upset; too upset for my liking. She seemed rather too upset for the gravity of what I’d done.

I assumed Janet was being overly jealous; too jealous for my liking.
.
Janet opened my door and slammed it in my face.

I looked at the time. It was now a few minutes to five (in the morning).

I made to go after Janet, but she shoved me off.
.
I returned to my room, downcast.

I knew I’d done wrong by Janet and I felt very terrible about it. I felt guilty.
.
That feeling went out my window the moment I heard a beep on my phone. I looked to discover that it was a text message from Jasmine.

“Thank you very much for last night, P. I had fun. You were amazing. I am looking forward to many, many more of this kind, with you. PS: Call Janet’s bluff. I promise to make up for every problem.”
.
I had no idea what Jasmine meant by that last phrase, and I honestly didn’t care. I simply dropped my phone and fell to my bed.

I was just tired.
.
I must have slept off, almost immediately after, because Sam’s knock had woken me up that morning. I managed to drag myself out of bed to go unlock the door for him. He couldn’t wait to hear how last night went. Of course, he heard the “slam” but wasn’t sure if it was from my room or another neighbor’s.
.
Sam asked what i was going to do after I played him the tape all the way to the present episode. I told him I had no idea. I told him I liked Janet a lot, but Jasmine was fun on another level. “I’ll love to keep exploring things with her for now”. I said.
.
“Janet is expecting you to get back to her on your decision by twelve. What’ll you tell her?”

“I don’t know, man. But I’m sure I’ll figure something out”. I said, unsure about that last part, especially as Janet seemed to know which of my utterances are true and which one isn’t.
.
“But wait guy! Do these girls know themselves from somewhere before? How did Janet get to know Jasmine enough to call her by her name? Sam asked, puzzled.

“Bros, the think shock me too o. I been no wan ask too many questions. Make i no come cast myself…”

“Idiot! You no know say na when you ask questions e sure say you no go cast yourself, abi?” Sam asked rhetorically. His phone began to ring almost immediately after.

Sam reached into his pocket for the phone. He picked up the call, placed it on speaker, and began to talk.
.
The person at the other end was Latifa (Sam’s girlfriend). Apparently, she had invited Sam for a church program and had been expecting Sam all morning. Sam, on the other hand, had forgotten. This call had only served as a reminder.
.
“Baby, I am dressed up. It’s Paul that has been delaying us. I am even in his room right now and you won’t believe that he just got out of the bathroom. Sorry, we’ll be there soon.” Sam lied before he ended the call.

This was how I found myself attending a church program I never planned for that day.
.
“There is somebody seated in this congregation this morning. The lord said to tell you that the devil has dug you a grave and stolen your grace. The devil has been dancing with your destiny and you seem to be enjoying every step of this dance. The lord said to tell you that your destiny is currently being used to play Ping-pong. When you sleep, you wake up from dreams you find rather strange; you find yourself having relations with known and, mostly, unknown faces. You often wake up to discharge, something you call wet dreams. You are not the most handsome, but the way these girls flock around you is alarming. The lord said I should tell you that these girls flock around you not for your looks; not for your charms nor is it for your charisma but for how bright they already see your future is. They flock around you now because they know you are weak spiritually. You are an easy prey. Your love for women is second to none, so beautiful women are positioned everywhere you turn. These women, on the other hand, make things easy for you and you go about thinking you’ve got killer words or mad charms. The lord said to tell you that they’ve seen your greatness and as such, they are currently in a race to win you over to the other side. They are in a race to claim the glory of your downfall. You are currently in a fix with them. Two heads of rival marine clans are currently fighting to claim you. The lord said to tell you that this will only be the beginning of your doom, if you don’t give your life to Christ and turn a new leaf right this moment. I don’t know who you are, but the Holy Spirit who is ministering these words to you, through me, knows you. So under the sound of my voice, Father! I declare peace unto this soul…”
.
The church went wild in prayers during these proclamations by the minister.

I was muttering a few words myself.
.
“…Search within your heart; within your life, this minute. Walk out now to the pulpit for your deliverance.” Said the pastor that’d been “on fire,” all morning long, with deliverance.
.
The entire church began to turn from left to right, looking to see who’ll be coming out.

I was also looking around to see who this revelation was about, too.
.
“This man of God is surely about to save another soul.” I thought to myself.
.
For what seemed like a split second, I’d presumed this pastor was talking to me until he said, “you are not the most handsome, but the way girls flock around you is alarming”.

“That cannot be me na😏.” I thought to myself.

To be continued…
