Arriving home, I didn’t meet my mom as she has gone to her shop. I sat down and imagine what just happened, I’m happy in the sense that I put him at his right place, it’s not anyone he can just feel like insulting because of his phobia when is not that I’m the one that created him to be inventing his maniac attitude at. I lay on my bed and slept peacefully in other to forget everything that happened at my work.
Some hours Later 🌫️
My phone beep woke me as I checked and saw Vero missed calls. I stood up and dial her number back.
“Hello..”
“Cynthia, how are you doing?.
“I’m good and you?.” I asked.
“Doing well, it’s been a while we talked and I felt like calling you and hear from you.” She said.
“Ohh’ that’s so lovely of you, I’m sorry that I haven’t reach out to you. It is just that I have been so busy these days, anyways what’s pumping anything for me.” I said.
She said not really that she just wanted to hear from me and probably asked if I would be available for an outing on the 25. I answered her excitedly that I’m sure going to be available.
“Alright babe, see yah!.” She said and ended the call.
I think following her out would be the best in other to get into her the more. I dialed Anita number in other to inform her in which her number was not going through. I put my phone down and went to the kitchen to cook noodles because I’m famished. Some hours later my mother came in and was surprised seeing me at home early, I greeted her as she responded looking at me while dropping her big sack.
“You came back early today?
“No really ma, it’s something that happened oo
“Ehn, something happened? hope nobody di ed Sha?.” She asked looking scared.
“Mom, nobody di ed ooo but what happened today ehn is something that would have result to dea the.”
“Obara Jesus!! God forbid bad thing, what happened?.” She asked sitting down immediately.
I then explained what happened at my work as she started insulting Gabriel calling him all sorts of names.
“Shuor! that boy head no correct samsam! na my pikin him dey insult like that? why you no call me make I come deal with am? which kind nonsense be that? if him no say him no like as you dey work there shebi him for tell you make you find another work go front abi which one kon be the nonsense wey him dey do. watin you con do for am?.” She asked.
“I didn’t do anything ooo although I splash his juice on him out of anger.” I answered.
“Gbam! very good, I be think say you no do am anything if not na your head I for knock, I don’t know maybe because he’s your boss that na gives him the audacity to be insulting his worker like that. Infact he for don try nonsense the day wey him come here like gentle man make I for don put am for him place rubbish!.” She said as I laughed.
I know my mother too well that she would never take it likely with him if she should encounter him again. She’s a very calm person but once it get to a stage whereby I got bully or deal with when I’m not at fault, she can go any length to bash the hell out of such person.
“I no one see you for that work again ooo what nonsense!.” She said while heading to her room.
DECEMBER 23
I left the company group and also refused picking Florence calls since I left. I also ignored her messages because I know she would want me to return to work, I carried my laptop and was watching movie when I heard a knock at the door, I stood up and went to open it and was surprised seeing Florence at the door looking pissed off. She entered without uttering a word.
“Are you having fight with someone?”. I asked while laughing.
“You are not serious ooo Cynthia, you know you offended me and you are now trying to cover up….”
“What did I do?.” I asked as she looked at me like an angry bird.
She knows I was only trying to tease her as she bounced on me and started hitting me playfully. She knows me very well that I didn’t returned her calls because I don’t want to return to the office. She started gisting me as we talked about how the office as been since I left.
“Chai, watin you do not good ooo Cynthia.”
“What did I do?.” I asked as we both laughed.
“You no allow our boss pikin come work since two days now.”
“How? I no hold am na? so why didn’t he come?.” I asked.
“He fell sick as usual and……”
“Wait ooo shey the guy na sickler? because I no understand this sickness wey no dey finish oo.” I said.
“You know he hasn’t recoverd from his previous sickness yet and you then add your own to it.” She said.
“But I didn’t do anything to him na, so how come?.” I asked.
“The juices you poured nko, shey you don’t know that he is allergic to germs? how I wished you saw how he started reacting when you left infact you would have thought you did him bad.” She said.
I signed down and told her it was not like I meant to react that way to him that day, but he just pushed me to the wall by his attitude that I couldn’t take it any longer, when is not that I’m the only one at the office.
“But, you should have at least answered his father when he summoned for you. Although he got angry when he heard what you did but at the same time he let it go when we told him what transpired to make you reacted that way.” She said while going to the fridge.
“Na Dem even Sabi! I’m not even interested in the work again sef as my Mama don put mouth say I must not work there again .” I said in which she turned back in surprised.
“Ha! Cynthia you told your mom already, why na? at least you for still wait small, you and this your stubbornness ehn!.” She said while taking my mom left over juice.
“You better drop that juice before my mother entered and sees it with you.” I said as she dropped it immediately in a funny way.
“This nko, is it for your Mom?.” She asked raising a Pepsi.
“Yes,.”
“Ha!.”
“Noooo, I’m just joking you can take it.” I said while laughing at her as she eyes me repeatedly.
“I no blame you.” She said.
I laughed continuously as she drank it.
“E con pain me say you no go con come the Xmas party now.” She said with a dropping face as if sad.
“Abeg forget about am jare, is not like I’m really interested to go sef.” I answered.
She sat closed to me and adjust my hair.
“Babe, I thought you said you like Gabriel.” She asked suddenly.
“I don’t anymore.” I answered looking away.
“You know you and I have been together right from school and we have really know each other very well.”
“Of course!.” I answered.
“Good, I just felt you shouldn’t give up on loving him, and as you can see, Gabriel is a very nice man oo I mean, nice and caring….”
“So,?..” I asked.
“Why not put more pressure and let him love you…”
“Wait ooo Florence, I hope it’s not what I’m thinking right now, could it be that Gabriel family or him rather had sent you to me to lure me in dating their son, because I don’t understand this your obsessed all the time about Gabriel this Gabriel that, are you part of their family to want to have me to him by all means?.” I asked looking at her because her behavior and glamoring looks so suspicious to me.
“It’s not like that Cynthia, okay fine let me just tell you this. His father traveling is for a purpose.
“How?.” I asked looking confused.
“The thing is that Gabriel has issue on having time to be with a woman due to his mysophobia, and you know he is no more a kid so, his father called me to his office one day and told me if I can make his son fall in love with someone I know that could stand him, like being able to confront him without fear in other to help him out in dealing with his phobia and perhaps have time to love a woman….”
“I’m listening,” I said looking at her.
“So, I told him I would get back to him in which I then had a thought on who I could bring in for that assignment and I then remembered you….”
“Me!.” I said shaking my head.
“Yes na, I know you as a pretty and fearless lady. I know what you can tolerate and not either, your beauty alone is an attraction of love even though your brain is sometimes not set properly.” She said and laughed.
“E be like say you dey cr@ze Florence! so, that was why you told me then that you have gotten a job for me, Kai!!! omo you don fall my hand big time I no go lie.” I said not knowing if I should be angry or laughing at the same time.
“No vex na! infact I was happy when you told me that you like him in which prompted me to inform him.” She said.
“Ohh, now I see. Na you be master planner, so Florence I carry yansh up for you.(I stood up demonstrating it to her as she pulls me down) You try ooo and you couldn’t tell me so that I should have perform very well. Although the guy is so rude and arrogant, who will want to have anything doing with him at first….”
“I know you can do it Cynthia, I know you very well and that was Why I planned it on you and now you have ruined it.” She said.
“So, that’s why Our boss came back from his secret traveling?.” I asked as she nodded her head.
“Ehya!’ so what do you want me to do now? because I can’t go back to that office.” I asked.
“Don’t worry, there will surely be another option. I will talk to his father about it but before then I will want you to come for the party so that you can get to interact with him more.
I scratched my head knowing well I won’t be able to go because I had promised Vero already. I told her I have planned that day with someone else already and it won’t be possible.
“There’s someone that I really want you to chase away from him.” She said.
“From who?”. I asked.
“Gabriel na!.”
“Abeg, no mess up with my brain abeg. Who you want make I chase away from am? abi shey him be gay ni?.” I asked to be sure as she laughed.
“He is not jor, there is this particular girl that his dad told me that do come to their house trying to get his attention but he didn’t like her because she’s his friend daughter and he doesn’t want a friend to friend son and daughter friendship that he and his wife have tried looking for a means to stop her from coming to their house or going over to his house that at times he do chase her away like a pig in which they don’t like either, but it seems she doesn’t get any of their moves.
“They should tell her straight up na or they should inform her parents that she should stop coming to see their son abi shey wahala con dey that one ni?.” I asked.
“I just told you that his father doesn’t want qualms with her father that’s why he is keeping mute, but I don’t think Gabriel will really fall for her.
“Then no need to worry na, because with the way I’m seeing that guy ehn! his heart will be so strong like rock. Someone that always shout at any little thing will now be able to fall in love just like that. Don’t worry he won’t fall for her jare.” I said.
“Whichever way Sha, I wished you can come so that you can just act to be Gabriel girlfriend infact do like is girlfriend and claim your right!.” She said happily.
“Is like you are not okay Florence. you are telling me to go and be a girlfriend to someone that doesn’t love me at all, how do you want me to feel in the girl present if he then disgrace me that I’m lying.” I asked looking out for an answer as she kept quiet.
“I think that option will be better after you finalize it first, because left to me ooo that party is no go area at all 😒.
“Okay then, no problem.” She said as she hugged me and started hailing me calling me sweet names.
“If you just make am change small ehn! chai Florence we go dey swim for money, you go con be Mrs Williams Cynthia! 😂 una wedding ehn go con be talk of the Town wey timbers and calibers go come from different aspects.
“Abeg Carry your yeye story commot for my side before I slap you 😂 na you know who dey marry who.” I said as we both laughed continuously.
