WRITTEN BY FAITH STORIES ✍️
We boarded another taxi to the hospital. I forgot to call Mr Charles and informed him about what happened. On getting to the hospital, I hurried inside leaving my father behind because of what my husband said about mama Chinedu not having much time to live again. I saw Josiah immediately I entered and he took me over to her ward. I was surprised seeing a lot of people around her, some of them are those I have seen which are her family. I ran towards her and hold her hands, holding back my tears. Looking at her really shattered my heart. She has really changed from how I know her.
“What really happened?.” I asked.
“I am sorry.” Was what came out from her mouth.
“Sorry about what? You didn’t offend me at all.”
“I do. And that’s why I am apologizing.”
“Oya, start talking Nkechi. We are all gathered now.” Her mother said, cleaning her eyes.
I watched her biting her lips in regret. Her head has gotten swollen, her body became thin like someone that contracted HIV.
“I am sorry my husband. I shouldn’t have fought with you to the extent of provoking you to end my life like this (crying) I have really wronged you in so many ways. I wish you can forgive me. This is never your fault and you shouldn’t go to jail because of me. That is why I requested for my mother and siblings to come..”
“I have forgiven you (crying) I pray you should be safe from this. I really regret pushing you.” Josiah said sadly.
She couldn’t turn her head and the sound system began to alert danger. I became scared where I was hoping it should all be an imaginative situation. She began to speak fast, from how her son and Rebecca are not Josiah children. She also said the HIV positive test the doctor comfirmed was the outcome of her prostituting, that she has been having an affair behind Josiah, even before she met him..
“I can’t believe this!.” Josiah shouted surprisingly hitting the wall.
“Ha! Mummy sewa. You’re a good woman that every man should pray to have. I have truly learnt prosperity and tolerance from you. If you have been my kind of person with my violence attitude. I know you wouldn’t have endure to continue staying with our husband. Even with the fact that you haven’t gotten a child of your own, you still work to have the capacity to send your daughter to school when our husband refused sending our female daughter to school.”
“Don’t worry, I have forgiven you about all that okay.” I said trying to calm her down.
“I have done you bad, and I am greatly regretting it now. I was the one that caused the sickness that almost took your life.”
“Haaaaaaaaaaa
We all shouted looking surprised. I was more surprised because I didn’t for once think she would be the cause of it.
“You did what!.” I asked full of tears.
“mama Rihannat, I am also sorry. I came to your home to make it miserable for you. I’m sorry everybody (closing her eyes) I ran faster than my shadow. I hated for no reasons. I allowed jealousy and selfishness took me to herbalist to have my husband charmed all to myself. The money he gave me doing our first time at the hotel makes me married him when he told me he loved me. I purposely didn’t tell him about the HIV status because I know he will surely leave me, if I do. Lastly, please go to mile 2 beside royal gate restaurant. You will see a duplex just some miles away, the guy I’m dating recently who do give me money (crying and coughing) I was told by my native doctor that he has used me for ritual, Although he didn’t directly tell me he’s the one but I know he will be the person Baba talked about. I kept going to him because I know my life is already at the stake of de ath. That’s why at times When I fight. I always fight with so much pains and agony without anyone knowing. Please go to his house and arrest him for me. His name is Samuel. “Lord Jesus forgive me my sins.” This was her last statement as she finally closed her eyes and took her last breath in the presence of everybody.
“Ha!.” I broke down in tears in the ward. My father held my hands. Josiah walked out of the ward to where I don’t know. At that moment I know he wasn’t himself. Nkechi mother and her two others family sobbed, tapping her body for response.
The nurse came inside and told all of us to go outside so that they can cover her up to be transferred to the morgue. I started shivering, holding unto my fathers body. My phone rang, I checked and see me Charles call. It is all looking like a nightmare to me seriously. I can’t believe someone I spoke to meet yesterday would end up being dea d today. Truly life is just like a tiny rope between life and de ath. If the rope is cut, then the soul is taking away by the spirit of de ath.
There’s no guarantee of living till eternity because what you might be planning tomorrow might not come to pass. I then remember the saying that Dea th is inevitable. No matter how powerful you’re , it will surely come. But our prayers should be that, it shouldn’t meet us at the wrong point in our lives. If she didn’t provoke Josiah, I believe this wouldn’t I happened. But at the same time, what if she has di ed by other means or maybe she slept and didn’t wake up without the privilege to confess her sin to everyone and to God. How will I know about everything she confessed. “Ha! Life, life!! Truly, it’s the way we lived in it that is determined by us.
Our deeds in life, determines how we will end it .

Three Days Later
I couldn’t go out because of the de th of Nkechi. I was unable to go Mr Charles house and he had promised to come over today if he’s returning from work. My father stood by me for the past three days. He doesn’t leave me alone for too long. He kept telling to be grateful to God that I’m alive. I made a decision to go see Rihannat mother and apologize to her because I attacked her purposely the day I left the house because I thought she was the one behind my sickness. Not knowing the ev il doer has been dining with me all along with her love attraction and kindness. The shocking revelation that shocked me the most is how Josiah called yesterday that when they drive down to the prescribed address she gave for the said Samuel.
They were told the owner of the house has di ed for than 30 years and his name is also Samuel. They told the neighborhood if they know about anyone bearing such name in the street with that same address again apart from the abandoned house they came to and he said know one is bearing such except the late person. I became scared for Nkechi for what she has indulge herself into all because of money. She didn’t know, she had been seeing a ghost for so long..
Knock…knock.
“Who is there?.”
“It’s I Charles.”
I stood up immediately and opened it for him. He hugged me immediately he entered looking at me all over as I was lost and now found.
“I am a married woman, don’t forget sir.” I jokingly said and he pretended not to hear me.
“Where is your father?.” He asked.
“inside.”
I went to call father and he came outside seeing Mr Charles and stood in shocked.
“Is he the Mr Charles you told me about?.”
“Of course!.” I answered smiling.
Mr Charles postrated immediately at my dad.
“Omo daadà ní (he is a good child) how did you know him?.” Father asked looking at me.
“I should be the one asking you that father, how did you know him?.”
“This is really a coincidence old soldier.” Mr Charles said smiling.
I looked at him surprisingly.
“How did you know him as old soldier?.”
