“Father please! Don’t allow him manipulate your mind ooo please please please!!!.” I pleaded.

He walked through the backdoor and go to the front of the house instead, shouting who is at his door.

“Mr kósókó (looking sad) good morning….I mean good afternoon sir.” Josiah said.

“Yes, good morning Josiah.”

He sat at the front of the house holding the bamboo stick he was cutting at the backyard. Josiah squatted down with one of his hand supporting the ground.

“Can I help you with it?.” He asked and Mr kósókó rejected his offer.

“Have you seen my daughter?.” He asked in a serious look.

“I haven’t sir, I wonder where she had gone also. I have rally around everywhere looking for her. I can’t believe my wife could leave me because I told her to go.” Josiah said sadly.

“Oh really? But you told me that you are tired of her and she should leave your house, then why complaining again about her moving out. Well, I don’t have time for all these your jeopardy sentiment. My own is that! Josiah if you don’t want my trouble, if you don’t want my trouble! Find my daughter for me or else! Or else!! You know what I can do ooo you vividly know how I don’t joke with my daughter. You know she’s my only child and if you should allow anything happen to her, I will never take it likely with you! “. He said in anger not ready to believe any acting he is trying to pull up(lied about).

“Old solder, old soldier believe me, I have search everywhere for her.” Josiah said.

Mr kósókó laughing aesthetically knowing what he’s about doing to Josiah.

“Thank God that you know I’m a retired military man so if you don’t provide my daughter for me in the next 24 hours, I will make sure I gun you and those militant you called wives in your home down. Get me my daughter! You foooooooooooll”. He roared at him hitting the bamboo on the floor in annoyance. I gave you my daughter as a wife and not a concubine, return her to me or get yourself into trouble!.

“Ha! But…”

Before he could say anything, Mr kósókó landed the bamboo stick on his head repeatedly and he ran forward in pain scratching his body.

“What is it sef? Did I do wrong to have come here to inform you about your daughter. I didn’t want you to be left in darkness that’s why I am to inform you about her absence and you started proving hard to me. Did I not tell you that she has left the house? Just see what you did to my hand!. Is your daughter also a child that doesn’t know where she ought to come. Instead of you to ask me what we are going to do about it, you now hit a grown up man like me a bamboo stick, just look at my hands and head.”

“When you finish displaying your foolishness, you can leave my house and go bring my daughter.” Mr kósókó shouted at him aiming to hit the bamboo again if he’s not careful.

“Your daughter is a slut! She is a cheater, imagine having an affair while in her matrimonial home. Is that one a wife? She’s also….also a beater, she fights everybody at home as if she’s a warrior. Definitely she took that from you.” He said.

“Emi abi? (Me right) ko sî wahala (no problem) .” Mr kósókó said putting the stick aside and pretended to cool Josiah down from his temperamental noise. Okay, fine. I’m sorry Josiah. I was just being protective of my daughter. Oya no vex.” He said smiling at him as he held out his hand that Josiah should come. The foolish Josiah fell for baba trick and walked back to him calmly like a baby who just got pet from his disobedience.

“I know you’re a good man Mr kósókó and….

Mr kósókó go again on him and this time around it became severe . Immediately he gets hold of Josiah even as taller as he is, baba kicked his legs unaware to him and pinned him down to the chair with his head facing down.

“Plea..see pl..eass I’m sorry Mr kósókó. Haaaaa my head is getting hot, my left ear is bleeding (he yelled out painfully) I’m sorry.” He continues to beg.

“You have the effrontery to be insulting me in my own house Josiah, you must be a fool a big fool for that matter!.” Mr kósókó said letting of his head as he stood up instantly holding his left ear with the blo od around it. He ran off towards his car insulting Mr kósókó and promising to make hell out of his daughter if he should find her, but Baba believes he will not be able to do anything in as much that her daughter and grandchild are saved with him.

“Fool! I blamed myself for giving out my daughter to you out of desperation of wanting to be a grandfather in an hurry not knowing it will eventually turns out this way. You will roam around and never ever see my daughter again ósinwín éníyán (crazy fellow).” He goes back inside through the backyard and enter the house to meet Adebimpe.

“Father, how did it go?.” I asked almost freaking out from my anxiety.

“Put yourself together my friend! Is this how you have been doing in his house. Don’t worry, I have dealt with him and also gave him an unachievable work to do. Since you are here with me, I’m definitely fine and I’m sure nothing will happen to you.” He said walking back to the backyard hitting the bamboo stick on the floor as he walks.

I hugged my daughter excitedly knowing that father wouldn’t disappoint me. I definitely know Josiah might be eagerly looking forward to see me in haste so as to descend on me. But shey Adebimpe nàn wà kéré ni (am I now small) I go fight back without doubt. Someone that don’t have man strength again because of too much woman. I laughed out loud and Adesewa asked what happened. I just smiled at her rubbing her head close to my chest.

“Nothing o my darling. Let get prepared for your going back to school tomorrow.” I said as she shouted excitedly.

“if you can’t get yourself together, it’s better I leave this room for you. Because I can’t be sleeping and you will be disturbing me with your muttering words. Instead of you to wait till tomorrow that I said I would go out to check around for Adebimpe or her boss, but you refused saying her father will be in support of you looking out for his daughter. Whose father is cr@zy to listen to whatever nonsense you would want to spew out for letting his child out of your house. Abeg shift go one side make I hear word.

Next morning Josiah couldn’t get up as he is seriously down with high temperature, Nkechi had to make tea for him just to help him have strength.
