‘There’s nothing that would stop me from marrying him,’ Tanesha Cobb said. ‘Nothing. I knew that this day would come. I didn’t think it would be like this.’
Preston had his fiancée, mother, two children and one stepchild by his side the entire time he was in the hospital, but was determined to make sure the wedding still happened.
A nurse at the burn center, Mary Cook, heard Preston and Cobb discussing their wedding and thought she would help. She and her fellow nurses set up food, flowers, a DJ and a wedding venue at the hospital for the couple.
The pair were overjoyed and instantly said yes to the ceremony.
‘She was like, ‘I got good news for you,’ Preston Cobb said. ‘And I was like, ‘What’s that?’ and she was like, ‘You’re getting married on the 22nd.’

He had to be airlifted to the JMS Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta after the spill caused the burns to cover nearly a third of his body
The tragic incident caused Cobb to lose nine toes and four fingers, with another four partially amputated as well
Preston was worried whether Tanesha would still marry him as the accident left him looking much different than the person who proposed.’
I was like, ‘Man, she’s not going to want to marry me,’ Preston said. ‘I’m not the same person that asked her to marry me.’
Tanesha, however, was more resolute than before to marry Preston.
‘There’s nothing that would stop me from marrying him,’ she said. ‘Nothing. I knew that this day would come. I didn’t think it would be like this.’
He’s had to had to have eight surgeries and still needs one per week to prepare him for skin graft surgery

Cook said once Tanesha said yes, Preston was determined to make their wedding day.
‘I wanted to give him something positive out of all this negative,’ she told Fox Carolina. ‘Preston was adamant that he was not going to change his wedding date.’
The wedding ceremony went off without a hitch after nurses brought the Cobbs to the chapel.
‘Even though my condition, it still didn’t stop me from marrying the woman of my dreams,’ Preston said.
