“My dear, just leave her alone. I know they are trying all means to get to my nerves so that I can leave this house for them, but just keep calm and be watching them. When you let their words get into your mind then you’re proving them right over you. Don’t think because I have been fighting or nagging all the time with her mother that you make you do the same. Adesewa my love.”
“Mother.” She answered.
“It is just for a while okay, are you not happy going to school?.”
“I am mother.” She answered.
“Then do you think it’s their joy seeing you going to school? They are jealous of you my dear and I want you to make me proud. Let your father see the benefit of not interested in sending you to school. I’m happy (crying) I’m glad I have you.”
“Mother, stop crying I’m very sure father will realize soon on what he has been doing. My desires is to always make you happy and I’m grateful you have me as your own.” She said and hugged her.
“it is okay, bit promised me not to ever fight with any of them again.”
“I promised mother, it will never happen again.” She said with sincerity.
TWO DAYS LATER
ADEBIMPE
I left the house before 8am with my daughter and went to get some ingredient in the market while she left to her school. I am really fed up of my house, I wish I have enough money get an apartment outside to live with my daughter instead of living in the midst of hypocrite. If looking back at the way I had planned my life, I am very sure I would have been living peacefully. Well, life is full of up and down that you never can tell which way it will be diverted to. I opened Mr Charles door because I didn’t see his car so, definitely he might have traveled without wanting to inform me. I dialed his number severally and it was just ringing without response. I felt he might still be asleep so, maybe when he sees my calls he should probably call back.
I entered dropped the ingredients I bought in the kitchen and walked back to the sitting room to take the broom to start my work. I noticed Mr Charles book that he always have with him where the decoder and speaker were placed on the shelf.
“He left without this?.” I picked it up looking at it. Should I open it?.” I look around and take a glance at first the page I opened.
*God, I’m tired…..” I covered it immediately in surprised wondering what I just read.
“Could it be that, he is not married? Ehn’ it can’t I possible!.” I wanted to open it again when I heard a knock at the door. I placed the book back to where I took it and hurried over to the door and opened.
“Good morning sir.” I said smiling.
“Good morning Mrs Josiah , how was your night? Sorry I missed your call, I went out yesterday night for a friend birthday party and I had to stay back because I got drunked.” He said heading towards his room laughing.
“No problem sir, I was even thinking you had an impromptu traveled.” I said looking at him going inside, he turned back remembering the book and took it smiling at me.
“What are you preparing this morning?.” He asked.
“Rice, and I have bought the cow tail you sent me.”
“Oh, that’s good then.”
“Let me quickly do it before you prepare for work”. I said heading to the kitchen.
“Mummy sewa, don’t worry. Just take your time with it, I’m not going to work today.” He said.
He looked so disturb unlike him, I think his not really in a good mood. He just didn’t want to make it obvious to me.
FARIDAH
“I don’t know what to do ooo sister, my husband has neglected finally. He doesn’t care about me anymore all he knows is always staying close with that witch of girl he brought in last.” She said sadly.
Her older sister told her she has relented too much in her husband house instead of her to find something to do about it.
“What should I do? What should I do?? If I say this, he will say no. If I carry this, he will say I didn’t Carey it well. Then what did he want me to do! Even when those two women were against me, you won’t believe Josiah is always supporting them instead of me.”
“Ha! Why na? It seems this is not ordinary again oo.” Her sister answered thinking about it.
“You can’t imagine what I have been facing in that house sister and father won’t even want to listen to me.” She said crying.
“Don’t worry we will find something to do about it.” Her sister said pacifying her.
“Just see how you’re living peacefully with your husband while my own husband is there not caring about me at all.”
“Faridah! Calm down. Stop crying, you see those two women ehn’ wahahi (I swear) if they don’t leave that house for you don’t call me Rasheedat. If not because of religion ehn you should have done something about it long time ago but anyways at the junction, for the sake of your husband and children you must do something.” She said while she shakes her head. Do you know how long you have been sticking with that nuisance!.
