CHAPTER 11
“I intend to use it to for something. Brother calm down naa, I’m I not free to ask dad for money again. And besides, I’m tired of that teaching job.” I responded.
“Come to my house now!! I don’t want to hear any of these pleasantries anymore.” he said and ended the call.
“This my brother don’t want to allow me to rest. It’s alright let me prepare and start going.” I said to myself.
I quickly dressed up on my suit and headed straight to his house.
When I got there, fear gripped me, when I saw him preparing to take her to the hospital.
“Would you go and get her bags, why are you just standing there and looking at me” he said while she carried her over to his car.
“But…., but…, I thought she said she doesn’t want to go to the clinic. Are you intending to force her?” I protested.
“Are you normal at all? so I should sit down and watch her illness worsen isn’t it? I’m her husband and I’m the one insisting to take her to an hospital. And be fast with the bags we’ll be leaving soon.” he added while he went to take something inside.
As I discovered he’d departed, I dashed over to Monica in the front seat.
“Monica…, Monica..”
“What is it again, just go, your presence here is making me feel unease. Just go I’m not in the mood to talk, I’m just tired.” she said while using her right hand to ward me off..
“He wants to take you to the hospital, do you agree with this? who would you blame if he discovers you’re pregnant?” because I’ll deny it if you mention my name, so find something else to tell him in order to avoid heartfelt stories. Because I won’t take it likely with you.” I said while warning her with my left hand.
I quickly banged the door when I overheard heard him coming.
“I guess we are good to go, you can enter let’s start going and mind you, arrange the bags in my boot, it’s opened.” He said while he left to start the car.
“And as for that money, don’t think I’ve forgotten. For now let me focus on my wife first then we’d emphasize on that later. Since the past few weeks, I’ve not been myself.” he added.
I hurriedly proceeded to put the bags in his boots, smashed the boot, and sat in the back seat. Then he quickly started the car, and we were on our way.
So, after a while, we arrived at the hospital, and one of the nurses admitted her to the patient room. Then they instructed us to stay put for a while while they ran a test on her to figure out what was wrong.
I was shaking and biting my tongue continually, my entire body was filled with guilt. I felt like the ground should just open up and swallow me.
So we waited for about 30 minutes and one of the nurses came out with joy written all over her face.
“I don’t understand. This one that you’re smiling, hope everything is fine?” Timothy exclaimed.
“Congratulations, your wife is three weeks pregnant!!” she said while she drew her right hand to give him a hand shake.
“And I think I should be going now. You can go and see her, she’s still resting. Although we’ve prescribed some medications to her” the nurse added and left.
“Three weeks what!!!” he thûndered angrily.
“Are you hearing what she’s saying, Samuel? Samuel, Samuel, Samuel!! “he yelled after repeatedly tapping me.
“Arrrrrrrgggghhhhhhhh! Are you not the one I’m talking to, what were you thinking that made you not to pay attention to what she was saying! Blood of Jesus Christ! she’s saying my wife is two weeks pregnant and I had no idea of this” he thundered while shaking my shoulders with both hands.
“Oh…, ohhh.., ohhh my God!! so she’s pregnant? for who, who’s responsible for it.” I replied like someone that was unaware of what was going on.
“I…, I …., don’t know. Father must hear this. So my wife had been cheating on me ever since. I need to go in and she must tell me the person that’s responsible for it if not, that house is not going to contain us” he remarked and angrily walked away to meet with Monica.
“Timothy wait” I quickly said and followed him inside.
I observed them from the door meanwhile Monica had already sighted me from where she was sitting.
“See, Monica! If you’re honest with me, then I’d have no problem with you. All I need is just the person’s name that all. Who got you pregnant!” he growled at her like an angry dog.
“Please…, please…., please it’s just that… you won’t understand..” she replied with quivering lips while trying to hold him.
“I will ask you for the last time. Who got you pregnant!!!” He roared at her, lifting his left fist and preparing to pounce on her.
