“I’m not just happy at, “ Sammy said bumping herself on her bed with a frown as she rolled her eyes
“It’s obvious from your voice, did your dad see you in trousers “Jesse asked still confused
“Not that, you know I don’t bring any of my school clothes to the house, hence my dad will just roast me alive “ she replied
“Then what exactly is the issue, talk to me, “ Jesse said sipping her glass of juice
“Remember my childhood friend I told you about, “ Sammy asked
“Which of them, cause you told me about a couple of childhood friends” Jesse quizzed

“It’s Catherine na, she is the only one I’ve still in touch with since after secondary school she just left my house “ Sammy let out
“Oh, the one from a poor family I think I remember her, so what about her that is getting you all worked up” Jesse asked almost giving up on her friend
“She is coming to LASU!” Sammy cried out
“To do what exactly,” Jesse asked with brows raised
“To school na, she just gained admission into our school, “ Sammy said feeling bad
“ Hmmm” her friend let out I presumed you feel she is going to spoil things for you, “ she asked
“Yes na, she and my parents believe I’m a good girl back in school and I don’t know how to keep that up when she eventually resumes and probably sees me,” Sammy said in a low tone so she wouldn’t be heard by anyone
“It’s simple na, it’s either you make her join the big girl’s crew or you block every access she has to you,” Jesse said with a Smirk
“ but I can’t do that to her, we have come a long way and I am the only friend she has, “ Sammy said feeling sad

“I know okay, but you just have to do what you need to do to keep a clean slate, so relax baby, “ Jesse said cheering her friend up
“I will try, when are you resuming back to school, I miss you already, “ Sammy said letting out a smile
“I think this weekend, cause my people at home won’t let me breathe,” Jesse said
“Are you sure, or is Zaddy you missing, resumption is still like two weeks from now “ Sammy said laughing out loud
“You are so naughty, I got to go now, I will chat you up later,” Jesse said as they Exchanged goodbyes and ended the call
Time rolled by so fast and it was three weeks already, lectures had begun since it was already a week into resumption
Catherine had been looking forward to her first day in school but somehow it was delayed because her parents could not meet the stipulated level for her school fee
“Why is your face like that “ Catherine’s mom asked as she put down the items she got from the market for her petty business
“Welcome mama, “ Catherine greeted helping her to put them on the counter when she was
done she sat on the long bench close to her mom
“Darling you don’t look happy at all, is it because of your school” asked her mother and she slowly nodded her head as her eyes swelled with tears
“See I have told you to relax, that God will make a way, your father has even gone to sell one of his machines to raise money for you, so just be patient okay, “ her mother said placing a hand on her back
“Okay mama but I was told lectures have begun already, “ Catherine said
“I know let’s just wait for your father to return, “ her mom said with a smile
Just then her father stepped into the compound and they both greeted him Catherine quickly wiped the tears that almost escaped from her eyes
“Why are you people outside, is it not late already “ her father asked
“We are about to go in” her mother responded
Catherine was expecting her father to say something but he didn’t” Maybe it is still not my time to go to school” she said to herself
That evening after dinner her dad sent for her and she came out from their room sluggishly and sat before them
“I notice you have been all Moody for some time because of your school,” her father said looking straight into her eyes and she nodded
“Well the good news is you will be resuming on Monday” her father let out with a smile
“What “ Catherine said as she jumped up in shock and rushed to her dad in a hug
“Thank you so much dad, God bless you richly, I promise to always make you proud, “ Catherine said with joy
“It’s okay, I’m glad I was able to gather the money together, you still need to thank your mom,” her father said pointing at her mother who was sitting beside him
“Thank you, Mom, I love you so much “ Catherine shouted and they all burst into laughter
“My daughter let me give you some words of advice you know university is not like home where you can be monitored and cautioned by us it is a different ball game entirely where you are solely responsible for yourself, “ her father said
“See when you get to school, you will see all
Manners of things and people but never get carried away, always remember your roots and put your goals at heart and run with them “ said her father
“Always put your purpose of going to school first, stay guarded, smart, and true to yourself always, I trust you will always make us proud” her father added with a smile
“En eh, my daughter please avoid bad friends, don’t be carried away with material things, and most of all be content with what you have “ her mom added with a smile they trust their daughter will make them proud
Catherine nodded her head with excitement and promised to make them proud even though she wasn’t aware of what was coming to her
