….Ah, I can’t wear this oh,” Catherine said
picking up her phone to call Sammy
It rang about twice before she finally picked up” Xup Sammy the clothes you brought didn’t fit at all I can’t wear them “said Catherine with a frown
“Hey, can you hear me “Sammy said screaming at the top of her voice because of the music playing at the party
She went early so she could wait for Catherine but right now she was finding it difficult to hear her “Are you coming now “she screamed even though she couldn’t hear her
Catherine on the other hand was also screaming and finding it difficult to hear her out of frustration she ended the call and angrily sat on her bed causing it to bounce her up
“What am I even going there to do” she asked herself stretching out the dress as she scanned through it mere looking at it you need no one to tell you that the dress is expensive cause it was glittering
“This is beautiful but I can’t wear it, what if someone I know sees me in this party and reports me to my mom, ah I’m finished oh,” Catherine said popping her eyes
Her phone began ringing again and it was Sammy she okayed it but the noise still prevented them from hearing each other
“Parties are not meant for me, “ Catherine said lying on her back, and not quite long after she dosed off only for her to wake up hours later
“Jesus!” She screamed searching for her phone and when she touched it she immediately unlocked it and saw 26 missed calls and several text messages it was past 3:am already
“Oh no how did I sleep off “ she questioned herself she immediately tried calling Sammy but her number was not reachable, she knew Sammy must have been very mad for her not showing up and she felt bad
Catherine took the dress which was still on her bed and kept it with the shoes “I think I have to return this since I could not attend “ she said to herself as she went back to sleep
For three days she couldn’t reach Sammy her numbers were not reachable at all and she was worried, the painful part was there was no one she could ask about her whereabouts from
On Fridays, she had just one lecture in the morning after which she decided to check on Sammy in her department
When she got there the lecturer was rounding up his class and soon everyone started heading out of the class so she stood by the corner hoping to see Sammy
She stood for like 10 minutes but she couldn’t find Sammy out of frustration she went into the class and accidentally bumped into someone
“Oh I’m so sorry, “she said bending down to pick up the book she fell and the guy said the same thing. She raised her head to look at the person who had just spoken and it was no other than Patrick
“ hey you ‘ Catherine said smiling

“The name is Patrick and you must be Catherine, “ he said stretching forth his hand for a handshake with a broad smile exposing his beautiful dentition
“My bad I’m surprised you still remembered my name, “Catherine said taking his hand
“ why not who would ever forget this pretty face, “ Patrick said smiling
“Stop teasing me joor, “ she said rolling her eyes
“ I’m dead serious okay by the way what brings you to my department cause I know for sure I have never seen this face around, “ Patrick asked
“you’re correct though, I have been trying to reach my friend but I can’t reach her and it’s been 5 days already so I decided to check on her here cause I know she is very mad at me, “ said Catherine
“ oh that’s so thoughtful of you, you must care about this friend, “ Patrick said leaning on the table
“ yes I do, I didn’t show up to the party she invited me to because I dosed off and since then I have not gotten her, I just want to apologize to her and return the dress she got for me which I didn’t wear, “ Catherine said with a sad voice
As soon as she mentioned the party, Patrick knew she must have been the girl Sammy wanted to hook him with and inwardly he was glad she didn’t show up for the party
“What is your friend’s name maybe I could help,” Patrick asked
“ oh that will be great, Sammy is her name, “ Catherine said happily
“Oh, Sammy “ Patrick let out “I knew it “
He said inwardly “She was not in class today but as soon as I get to her I will let know, “ Patrick said covering up for her
“Oh that will be great, thank you so much, “ said Catherine
“It’s nothing can I at least drop you off today, please don’t say no “ Patrick said with a smile and she obliged they gisted all along and Catherine felt somehow safe around him
Sammy traveled the following day with her daddy who was sponsoring her reckless living she does not give a damn about her studies since she had the funds to sort them out
Unfortunately, her trip was cut short when she got a call from her mother “Sammy, what is wrong with your phone since you left for school we have not been able to reach you “ her mother quizzed
“Mom is the phone oh, the battery of this touch light phone Papa gave me has been faulty I just managed to get a new one “Sammy told a fat lie cause she was using the latest iPhone and her parents were not aware
“Okay, your father has been very sick for weeks and he is requesting to see you, please try and come home this week, “her mother said faintly you could feel the stress from her voice
“I will mama please take care of Papa for me, “Sammy said and quickly ended the call to avoid more conversation
Just as she ended that call her iPhone began ringing
