Coming To Lagos episode 11

Finally!!!

CONTINUATION. . . Coming To Lagos. . EP 11

“Your house is beautiful.” Freda says as soon as we enters my empty sitting room.

“Wait until it’s fully decorated and equipped.” I replied. I haven’t gotten a TV set yet. I had plans on what to do on receiving my first salary.

I walk her to my room and I decided to change into something more comfortable when she asked a question that I didn’t expect.

“Are you fighting with uncle Sam?”

“What??” I tried to hide the bewildered expression on my face as I replied a question.
“How can you say that?”

“I over heard daddy and uncle Sam saying you don’t pick his calls and uncle Sam has not been happy like I used to see him.”

I couldn’t think of a better way to explain this to her.
“You know, I usually come home late coupled with Lagos traffic and I can’t come over by such time.” That was the best sincere answer I could come up with.
From the look on her face, I could tell she didn’t totally believed that there was nothing.
I draw her close and touched her cheeks. “Don’t eavesdrop on adults conversation again, okay?”
She nodd and I quickly changed into a loose gown.

“Aunty, I’m hungry.” Freda says after a while of working on her assignment.

“Will you eat indomie.” She jumps up and says yes.

I began to prepare noodles when she comes in and request that I unlock my phone for her to play games. I obliged because I didn’t have TV and no cartoons on my phone except a piano tiles game.

After cooking the noodles, I came into the sitting room to see her busy writing again. She had dropped my phone but my battery percentage was almost intact. She begins to eat and I decided to check where she had entered.
From the recently used app, I saw piano tiles and WhatsApp.

WhatsApp??

She had sent Samuel a text on WhatsApp.
“Hi, uncle Sam. It’s Freda.
I’m at aunty Blessing’s house and she’s preparing me noodles.
I know it will be yummy than those pepper soup indomie you usually prepare.
Don’t tell her I told you o.”

I laughed at her childish display because how won’t I find out. It wasn’t deleted. Samuel saw the text but didn’t reply. After some minutes of contemplation, I decided this was the right time.

I sent a text. “Hi.” He replies almost immediately.

“How are you doing, Sammy.” I knew how much he loved me calling him Sammy so I prayed it works.

“I’m fine.” Was his terse reply. Nothing else.

I wanted to get angry that he didn’t ask about me too then I remembered that he was right to be angry. I had ghosted him for a week without a reason and here I was, expecting him to just be happy.

“Are you free? I’ll like to talk.”

He took sometime before he finally replies. I was nervous that be wouldn’t respond but he did.
“I’m free.”

“First, I’ll like to apologise for how I behaved in the last week. I’m sorry. I have my reasons.”

“Did I do anything wrong?” He asked.

“No. I just want to ask you. What are we doing? You’ve been doing alot for me. We have talking and with all your family thinks, and how close we have been. I didn’t want to just allow us act like we’re a thing when we’re not. What’s really going on?” I sent it and immediately it shows blue double ticks.

“Blessing, was this why you didn’t pick my call for a week?”

“Isn’t it a good reason?”

“It is. I’m happy you brought this up but I have been bothered. Please don’t be offended with whatever I say now.” I didn’t reply when he sent this. He was typing.

“I don’t know what happened but since that night, I think I can’t take my mind off you. I really like you, Blessing. I was scared to say it before now because I thought you would just go off like you did last week, and cut off from me. I will like to ask you a question. Please be sincere with me.”

“Ok, go ahead.” I replied. Freda has slept off already when I looked at her.

“Are you in a relationship currently?”

“No, I’m not.”

“I don’t know how you will see this but I love you, Blessing. I don’t know what the future holds but I’ll like to see what it holds with you.”

“Are you asking me to marry you?”

“Please, don’t think I’m acting too fast or being manipulative. We can start a relationship first if that’s okay with. What do you say?”

“I’ll pray about it and get back to you.” I sent.

“My woman of God.” He sends with an emoji.
I felt free as though a burden was lifted off me. Did Sammy just ask me to date him?
I couldn’t explain what I felt, the butterflies felt as though I was watching a movie.

“I’ll come pick Freda when I’m back. Don’t bother dropping her home.” He sends.

“Just say you missed me and wants to see me.” I teased him, sending a laughing emoji too.

“Oya oya, you don catch me. I miss you really. So much but let’s leave long talks for when we see.”

I couldn’t hold myself from wishing that time would move faster for Sammy’s return. He finally arrives at 8 o’clock.
When I heard his knock at the door, I first checked if my dress was in order, my hair, as I opened to let him in.

“Hi.”
“Hi.”
Immediately, Freda wakes up. “Uncle Sam.” She calls as Sammy carries her in his arns seeing she was still sleepy. He bought me some apples. I love apples.
I don’t know it it was him or me but none of us could say a word to each other. We just exchanged handshake and bade me goodnight.

I didn’t want to think about him all night so I decided to call mummy. After two rings, mum didn’t pick up. I knew she would call me back but before then, I needed to take my mind off Samuel.

Anita.
I haven’t called her yet since the dream I had. I decided to try her number.

To be continued. .
