The pastor’s secret
Episode 8
It was already late, after dinner we just went to our rooms to freshen up and put our things in place.
I quickly moved out of the room to see what the rest of the house looks like, then I saw Jesse having a conversation with mother.
I couldn’t hear what they where saying so I had to move closer without making sounds, I stood behind the door quietly.
“I can’t stay here with my kids, I can never forget the kind of business you are into, you made so much wealth from it and now what are trying to do?”, My mother asked.
“Sharon am sorry, I stopped being an organ harvester since the last time you caught me. I changed and i moved closer to God, I put all my best into my gospel music and today God has blessed me with all of these beautiful things”, Jesse replied.
“So Jesse is no more into such business again”, I whispered to myself.
“I don’t believe you, if you stopped the business why did you move out from your old place?”, My mother asked.
“You remember one of my hit gospel songs in school? One of them got one of the biggest music producer in Lagos amazed and he asked me to come down to Lagos to record the music again, he wanted me to come with another singer who has a voice like mine. I tried reaching out to you but you refused to pick up my calls, I was running out of time and then I moved to Lagos”, Jesse replied.
“Wow and you didn’t care to look for me?”, My mother guessed.
“I did look for you Sharon, I came back from Lagos and searching for you was my ultimate goal. It felt like you vanished from the face of the earth, I didn’t even realize shally, Mitchell and Karen were your kids I wanted to give them a better life and not that kind of life they where living in a strip club”, Jesse replied with a single tear dropping from his eyes.
“Really? I thought you where going to use them for your organ harvesting scam”, my mother muttered.
“I tried to find you, all those years most of my songs where about you. Fate had a way of bring two people together”, Jesse added.
“I was lost without you, I was so much in love with you till i fell into the wrong hands for comfort and then I realized I was pregnant”, my mother revealed.
“Pregnant?” Jesse echoed.
“Yes, I was already pregnant with shally before you disappeared, Donald thought it was his so I let things remain that way until today”, my mother added.
“What? Am a father? I have been a father?”, He jumped up so excited, he even carried my mother up and spined her round making both of them to scream and shout in joy.
I quickly left the area feeling guilty, thinking of all the pain I went through in pastor Donald’s house not knowing he wasn’t my father.
I had a father who was doing well, who had all it took to change my life and my mother’s life. I lived and suffered in the hands of pastor Donald, my mother lied to me, she kept that from me for so many years.
I went into my room and laid down on my bed digesting all I have heard, my heart wasn’t right anymore. I began to feel instant hate for my mother, she kept me in the dark for too long and that wasn’t fair.
I didn’t even know if I should cry, laugh or tell my sister’s all that have heard call concerning my life.
