I enjoyed my stay at the camp, my aunt calls me to inform about all the things that happened when i wasn’t around, i thought maria has left my dad, but my aunt said she hasn’t left, they are still enjoying my money, i was teaching at a secondary school, i really love my work. One day when i closed for the day, i trekked outside the school compound to search for vehicle, but a luxurious car stopped at my front, wow someone wants to give me a lift, i said in my mind, the person rolled down, i saw that it was one of my students.
“Aunty favour, where are going? The girl mary asked.
” Thank you darling, but my house is not far from this place” i said because i was not comfortable with how her dad was staring at me.
“Ok ma” the girl said as she smiled at me.
“Dad, this aunty is a very good teacher, i really love her, she takes care of me” mary said to her dad.
“Thank you for taking care of my daughter ” the man said.
” No problem” i said.
“Sorry to disturb you, please can i have your contact,don’t be offended as you know my daughter is not that healthy, so i can call you , to check on her” the man asked.
” okay” i stared at the man. I gave him my number, then his daughter waved as they drove off.
It was on Saturday,my phone rang, i saw that it was an unknown number, i was scared to pick the call but i later picked it.
” hello, aunty favour this is Mary’s dad” the person said.
” oh, good afternoon” i replied.
” please can i take you out” the man said. What is this man saying?
” sorry, i know it’s sudden ,but my mom wants to meet you” the man said. Its like something is wrong with this man.
“Your mom, i don’t get you, why will your mom want to see me, i don’t think,i know her ” i said.
“Sorry sis favour, i can’t tell you because it’s complicated, can you come to bella’s restaurant this evening, i will explain everything to you when we get there” the man said. Since it an open space then i will go.
“Ok no problem ” i said.
When the evening came i got dressed then i went to the restaurant and i saw him coming towards me.
“Let’s go my mom is waiting for you” he said. Then we walked towards the table, and i saw the woman, i was shocked this woman is she my mom,my mom’s picture that i saw,it was exactly this woman,is my mom not dead, is she alive?this woman looks older. She looked at me , she was shocked also,maybe because i really resemble her.
“Mom” i shouted as i ran towards her and i bursted into tears.why did she pretend to be dead? why did she leave me with my dad? Why didn’t she contact me all these while?
“Oh darling am sorry am not your mom, but maybe i am your mom twin sister ” she said as she looked at me, i was shocked, who is she? And why did she resemble my mom so much, and i even resemble her.
” when my son came home, he told me about you that you resemble me so much, he thought maybe you were my daughter, but i told him that i don’t have any daughter, he was my only child ” the woman said as she looked at me, this woman looks like my mom so much even though i don’t know her, but i saw her pictures in our house.
“Are you sure you are not my mom? I asked, i know the question was foolish but i had to ask.
“No, i am not your mom, i think am your mom twin sister ” she said.
” how is that possible?i never heard of you.
“I and your mom, when we were young , my single mother couldn’t afford to take care of two of us, we were very poor, our mother got pregnant when she was in secondary school, our father didn’t accept us, so she was the only one that took care of us, when i and your mother clocked ten years old, she gave me to her friend, that she should take care of me, since her friend was barren, she went to another state with kehinde that is your mother, since then she has never contacted us ,but i knew she later got married and gave birth to a girl,but she told my foster mom that she wanted me to be a secret, since she only told her new husband that she has only one child before, that was why i didn’t appear at all,and i later heard that she died, so i had even forgotten about everything about her and my twin sister, until when my son said he saw someone that looks so much like me, i even thought it was kehinde, so where is your mom? She asked as she looked at me.
” my mom is dead, she died after she gave birth to me” i said as i bursted into tears. She was so shocked, she stayed slient for a while.
” oh, sorry,i didn’t see your mom till she died,am so sorry ” she said sadly, as she comforted me. I relaxed as we began to talk, we talked about a lot of things ,i told her about how my dad wanted wanted me dead, i also told her about sis folakemi, her step sister, and her late mother my grandmother, i didn’t want to part her because she was so lovely, she told me that i should come and live in her house till i was done with my service, i was so happy, i agreed to live with her since she was a widow and she was lonely.I lived with her till i was done with my service, my aunt taye wanted to follow me to my hometown, i didn’t tell aunty folakemi that i was coming home, since i and my mom’s twin wanted to suprise her, she also wanted to met my father.
