“He’s threatening to break up with me if I decide to keep the baby. I don’t really want to do this but now I feel I should have aborted it like he suggested”. Bella’s colleague said amidst sobs.
“You made the right decision. Samuel doesn’t deserve you really. If he doesn’t want it you can keep it and move on. I don’t like the idea of removing this pregnancy though.” Bella replies.
“What will I tell my family. I was sent to Lagos to stay with my aunt to work and luckily, I got this job on the Island. My family will kill me”.
Bella works in a hair stylist shop on the Island; known as the big man’s estate.
Anita started working with them just 3 months ago.
It’s a unisex saloon.
The day Samuel walked in for a haircut, Anita couldn’t stop fussing about how handsome he looks. How black his hair was. How tall he looks. The anti-ray protective glasses he had on made him look so charming.
All these were Anita’s observation. Not Bella’s. Bella has worked here long enough to know how to play her games; who to mingle with and who not to. She tried warning Anita but would you blame a novice who’s dating a rich dude for the first time?
She was carried away by the huge amounts he sends almost everyday. He orders food for her and most times, he takes her to his house after work before dropping her at her aunt’s.
Bella warned her.
“Take it cool with this guy. They are just filled with sugar coated lies to get in-between your pants.”
“I’m an adult.” That was Anita’s reply.
“This is Lagos, babe. This is not Enugu.”
“Don’t lecture me like some kid because you’ve been in Lagos before me. I know how to run things.”
Bella wants to laugh as she remembers all that happened in the past. The wasted advices but no. It wasn’t nice to laugh in this situation. They have to find a way out.
They??
She just has to help her. She can’t leave her all alone now, especially in this state.
“How about you first talk with your aunt before any other thing.”
While they were still discussing, Samuel walks into the saloon with another girl’s arm intertwined with his.

“Samuel, who is she?” Anita asked before he could even grab a seat. The girl was still holding tightly to him to show her possession.
“Sam baby, why is this hairstylist questioning you?” The girl asked touching his chest button.
“Hold it there, w***e. I’m the mother of his unborn child.” Anita said not so sure she should have said what she said. She was now standing really close to Samuel.
“I don’t really know where I picked ‘this thing’ from. Don’t mind her, baby.” Samuel was saying to the new girl beside him as he puts off an invisible strand of hair off her face and gives her a peck on her cheek.
“Go and look for the father of that bastard you are carrying in your womb. ”
Anita felt like a bomb had ticked off in her head. Without thinking, she lands a slap on Samuel’s new girl.
Bella and the other colleagues were just watching in awe and for the sake of entertainment. This was possible because their boss was not around. They knew better what would have happened if their boss happened to be around.
The new girl rubbed her cheek fervently. That spot was already red. Samuel just stood agape. The new girl must have felt insulted and decided to pour her annoyance on Samuel as she gives him a resounding slap also.
“Enough of the slapping competition. Please which one of you really needs a haircut?” Bella asked trying hard not to look funny or sound funny but she couldn’t.
The look on the new girl wasn’t helping matters. The way she still held onto her cheek shows that it must have hit the right spot.
Poor girl.
Poor w***e.

It’s few hours to closing time at Bella’s working place as she stood outside trying to console Anita.
The news of the fight between Anita and her “ex” has gotten to her boss. No other person must have told him expect the ever nosy Nenye.
“I don’t know what to do or where to go.” Anita complains as tears trickles down her almost round face. “The boss has fired me. He said he can’t accommodate a pregnant woman who will only sleep and lazy about. Despite my pleads he. . .”
She couldn’t complete her words as she broke down in tears, again. Mucus has already found their way in her nose as she keeps rubbing and cleaning her nose with a little hanky she held in her left hand.
“Can I go with you to your aunt’s?” Bella asked.
“I don’t know if she will listen.” Anita replied.
After closure, Bella went with Anita to see her aunt and pleaded with her to forgive her.
“I cannot allow her spoil my daughters. She should go back to the guy responsible.” Anita’s aunt wasn’t ready to accept her into the house.
It was seeming as almost impossible.
After much pleads, Anita’s aunt accepted to accommodate her but on the condition that she won’t feed her or carter for her unborn child.
“I’ll see how I can help you with some money, okay.”
“Thank you so much, Bella. If only I had listened to you earlier.” Anita was saying with a deep sense of regret.
“The deed has been done. You have to learn from this and on no occasion should you consider an abortion.”
“Thank you so much. I promise, I won’t.”
“I’ll see if I can find something else for you to do and earn little money for yourself. I’ll talk to my friends too.” Bella said as she makes a transfer of #10,000 to her promising to do more.
Men can be Wicked.” Joy replied after Bella explained what happened with Anita.
“I know but some girls can be foolish. After everything Bella told her.” Chioma said feeling for Anita but angry at her stupidity and obstinate attitude to Bella’s advice.
“So Bella, you sabi help person? Abeg run me small 10k na.” Nancy said to tease Bella.
“No bi onle 10k.” Bella replied sending a laughing emoji.
“I go do abortion o.” Nancy replies.
