“Complicated”

Episode 15

After her failed attempt to seduce Chief Ayegbajeje, Darasimi moved on to plan B. She knew that many wealthy older men had vices, and one of the Chiefs was frequenting a private strip dance club. Darasimi decided to buy her way into the club, where she was given a crash course. The manager knew that Darasimi had a specific target in mind, so she lingered in the club for days waiting for the Chief to show up.

It took two weeks, but eventually, Chief Ayegbajeje visited the club and Darasimi was sent to his private cubicle. The dancers typically wore masks and were allowed to dance and offer additional services to their clients. Darasimi, curvy and youthful, with a firm body, was irresistible to the Chief, and after the dance, other things ensued.

A few days later, the manager informed her that the Chief was asking for her again. She returned to the club, and after another teasing dance, the Chief had his way with her. But this time, after their encounter, Darasimi revealed her identity.

“My God, what have you done, Darasimi? Your father will kill me,” the Chief exclaimed in shock.

“Who is going to tell him?” Darasimi replied coolly.

“What are you up to? I hope you’re not trying to mess with me.”

“No, Chief, I told you I like you.”

“That’s nonsense. What are you really up to, Dara?”

“Okay, fine. My father married me off to that fool, Toluwani, without knowing who he really was. He’s a beast, and every day I have been in that house has been a nightmare. You are the only one who can talk to my father, and he will listen. Please, tell him Toluwani has been abusing me.”

“Is this not a ploy to get back to your boyfriend?”

“No, Chief. A man who left me because my father offered him money. That’s over.”

“Look, your father won’t listen to me on this matter, so I suggest you find a way to sort yourself out.” The Chief dismissed her concerns, indicating that he was unwilling to get involved.

The chief quickly gathered his belongings and left the room. After he left, Dara allowed herself a small smile; she knew he would come looking for her again. But her plan was grander than just getting him to talk to her father. She had a different reason for sleeping with him. “Don’t worry, Durojaiye, you will soon find out that I am truly an Akinola.”

Ore is now in her second trimester. Her first trimester was relatively drama-free, but in the second trimester, she started experiencing pains in her waist. Adetola accompanied her to the hospital where the doctor examined her and advised her to rest, explaining that it was common for some women to experience such pains during their second trimester, but that it usually subsides in the third trimester.

As Adetola and Ore emerged from the doctor’s office, Ore caught a glimpse of a man turning the corner. She froze, thinking he looked like Farouk, but she wasn’t sure.

“Are you okay, Ore? You look like you just saw a ghost.”

“No, I’m fine. I just felt a little dizzy.”

“Should we go back to the doctor?”

“No, I’m fine now. Let’s go.”

Ore’s heart raced as they left the hospital. Had she been alone, she would have followed the person to be certain of his identity, but with Adetola by her side, she couldn’t. She quickly pulled out her phone and messaged Temi, explaining what had happened. Temi advised her to stay calm, suggesting it could just be her imagination.

Meanwhile, Farouk was also at the hospital for a check-up, accompanied by his mother. This was his first visit to this new hospital, where his doctor had recently transferred. The doctor wanted to see how Farouk was responding to the new medication prescribed to him. While the drug could not cure his condition, it was supposed to prolong his days. Farouk complained to the doctor that the medication caused episodes of tiredness, making him sleepy and unable to get things done. After examining him, the doctor decided that Farouk should take only half a tablet instead of one. Grateful for the adjustment, Farouk thanked the doctor and left.

On their way home, Farouk’s mother brought up a matter of concern. “Did you try to reach out to the girl you met in Dubai?”

“No, why? I told you there is no point,” Farouk responded.

“But what if she is pregnant?”

“Mum, we only did it once.”

“That once is enough to get pregnant,” she pointed out.

“Well, I don’t think she would be that naïve to sleep with a man when she knew she wasn’t safe,” Farouk reasoned.

“Okay. I’m just saying if you have a child out there, I would like to know in case of any eventuality since you have decided not to trust God for your healing.”

Farouk retreated into his thoughts. Ore had seemed naive, a trait that was evident the first day they met, and he had promised himself he wouldn’t take advantage of her. He thought back to that night and remembered that it was actually her first time. Could she be pregnant? He dismissed the thought; if she were, she would have looked for him. It didn’t occur to him that not being on social media made it difficult for her to find him.

Dara was correct; it didn’t take two days before the chief summoned her to meet him at one of his guest houses. Darasimi had a plan, so she prepared herself to execute it upon arriving at the Chief’s guest house. However, when she got there, the security men insisted that she drop her phone, leaving her with no choice. Without her phone, she couldn’t execute her plan. She promised herself that she would improvise.

Meanwhile, she had been sending Adetola her intimate pictures. She knew that if he didn’t block her after the first picture, she had him—it was only a matter of time. Being involved with both father and son wasn’t really her preference, but she wanted to teach her father a lesson that would humiliate him so thoroughly that he would never be able to flaunt his arrogance among his friends again. She was aware there would be a price to pay, and she was willing to pay it, no matter how steep. Once she was finished dealing with her father, she planned to track down the betrayer, Tobi, and teach him a lesson as well.

Dara was so consumed with revenge that she wasn’t even aware of the danger she was putting herself into. It was as if a spirit was controlling her, and she wasn’t herself at all. She might think she is seeking revenge, but she has no idea about the can of worms she is about to open.
