MUTUAL ADORATION (Episode 6)
I had a dream which made me j**k back into consciousness. Remembering that I didn’t know where Trish was got me really worried.
It was past 6:00 a.m. I picked up my phone and called Pastor Olu.
“Good Morning, MOG,” he said.
“Good morning, Olu. How are you doing?”
“I am okay. Why do you sound low? Are you good?” he asked.
“Trish left home since afternoon and I haven’t seen her ever since,” I explained.
“What? How do you mean?”
“I only got to open up yesterday morning. She said nothing, she locked herself up for hours after which she left home. I thought she had done to work until she didn’t return again.”
“Oh no! I thought you told me that you can confess since last month, what happened?”
“I couldn’t. I lied to you just to stop you from always asking.”
“Oh my! Leave all that for now. Have you filed a report yet?” he asked.
“No! I haven’t. I don’t think I should do that yet.”
“Hmmm! I’ll be at your place in an hour’s time.”
The call with Olu ended and I went on my knees to seek God’s mercy and ask him to protect Trish.
I picked up my phone and tried to call her again. The phone rang and she immediately hung up and switched off the phone.
U hurriedly sent her a text, apologizing and pleading with her to return home.
When Olu got to the house, I gave him all the details he needed to know. He dialled Trish’s number and she picked. I was curious to know what their discussion was about but Olu signaled me not to say a word.
“She is fine,” Olu said when the call ended.
“Where is she? Did she…”
“Calm down, Dave. Hmm! Trish is hurt, I could hear it from her voice. She will be back home, just give her some time,” Olu added.
From the chair I sat on, I slowly slid down to the floor, as had a flashback of all my lack of fleeing had cost me.
I thought of how fast everything played out. Olu couldn’t say much, he stared at me at intervals and shook his head.
“I need to see you, Dave. It’s urgent.”
That was a text from Toya and my heart skipped. Olu noticed my countenance and asked what the matter was. I handed over the phone to him and he read the text.
“Did you see her again after the first time it happened?”Olu asked.
I narrated the tale to him about how she came to the office and how I visited her again.
Olu kept mute and I wished he said something.

I waited tirelessly for Trish but she didn’t come home the whole day. I was devastated as I kept calling her and sending her messages.
At about 8:00 pm that evening, I heard a knock on my door and I hurried to open it up.
Lo and Behold, my wife, Trish starring at me. She greeted me faintly and came in, going straight to our bedroom. I followed her behind as she sat on our bed.
“How long has this been going on?” she asked looking into the distance.
“Babe, it has happened twice within 2 months,” I said.
“Why, Dave?”
“Babe, I won’t lie to you. I was drawn away by my lust and I fell recklessly in this mess.”
“Am I not good enough? “
“Oh no! Trish, you’re perfect, everything is good and do not deserve any of this. I am sorry.”
“No way! You are not sorry. Twice is no mistake. You’ve broken me beyond repair.”
“Please, I want to make it right.”
“Can you undo the act and take away this pain I feel inside? Let’s start from here.”
“Babe, let’s trust God to help…”
“Shhh! Leave God out of this, Dave. Do not use God to blackmail me here. If you honoured him, you wouldn’t have defiled our bed,” she fired.
“All I ask for is another chance, babe.”
“And all I ask for is a divorce, Dave.”
My mouth went wide open on Trish’s demands and I became speechless.
To be continued.
