Nadia!
Episode 15
Stanley looked at the young girl in his house, he recognised her immediately, its the same girl that saved him three years ago, the same girl who had removed a bullet from his hand and took care of his hand. The same girl that didnt expose him to the police but let him stay in her uncompleted building till morning, the same girl he didnt go back to appreciate. The same girl that has hunted his sleep for three years, now that same girl was lying in his room helpless. He didnt know what to do, he quickly lifted her on his bed and thought for a while, he saw that her leg was tied, he saw different bruises on her body, she looked very weak, he tried to wake her up but after two attempts and no response, he decided to take her to a hospital.
Stanley made a deposit of 10,000 naira to the doctor and treatment was commenced immediately on Nadia, the doctor tried to know what happened to her from Stanley, but he had no idea, and so he had nothing to tell him. The doctor then explained to Stanley that he would need to deposit another 50,000 naira because Nadia had so many injuries on her. Firstly she has a crack in her scull and the wound in her head has already been infected for lack of proper treatment. She also had bruises all over body from physical abuse, she is suffering from snake poison that has eaten up to her waist, the doctor said she was even lucky for the first aid she applied on her leg if not the poison would have reached her heart by now and that she is also suffering from continuous rape, lastly she is deeply traumatized and will take time to heal. Stanley was shocked, he didn’t know how just one small girl could suffer from all this. However he told the doctor to commence treatment immediately and forget the money that he would pay anything but they should give Nadia their best. The doctor assured him that Nadia would get the best.
Stanley didn’t know why he felt like that but he felt he owed Nadia his life, if she hadn’t removed the bullet that night, maybe it would have caused more damage on him, and if she had gone and called the police on him, maybe he would be in jail now or would even have died. So he owe his life to her and no matter the amount he would work hard to save her. And so he set out to work harder at his new office, he works extra time just to get the extra money for this young lady. She had called him Frank the first day she came, it only meant she knew his brother.
It took three weeks for Nadia to open her eyes, for this three weeks Stanley made the hospital his second home, he took flowered to her bedside every three days, but today when she finally woke up he was at home, his phone rang and when he checked it , he saw it was the doctor, when he heard she had finally opened her eyes, he jumped up and rushed off to the hospital.
When he got there, Nadia was sitted on the bed, he bought some fruit for her and as he walked in, he smiled at her. Nadia looked at him and smoked also. ”Am glad you are finally awake, I was beginning to get scared he finally said….”how are you feeling right now” he asked, I feel better, just a slight pain in my head.., sorry about that Stanley said, let me leave you to rest for now, I will go and prepare cooked food for you, am sure after you eat good food that pain in your head will disappear, besides I have a lot of questions to ask you he concluded, before standing up to go. How long have I been here Nadia asked, three weeks Stanley replied, three weeks wow! Nadia exclaimed, it felt like yesterday when she climbed up from that room where she was locked in, she was still thinking when Stanley interrupted her thoughts, ”The excitement of seeing you awake didn’t make me think of anything before coming, however just have lots of rest when I get back we will talk. Nadia didn’t reply, but ad Stanley was about to step out, Nadia called him ”Frank, thank you for everything”. Stanley smoked again and then stepped out, she obviously does not know he is twin and he is not Frank, he shut the door behind him and walked away……
Episode 16
Stanley went back to the hospital and Nadia was already sitted waiting for him. He gave her the plate of rice he carried. ”I personally cooked this for you” he said, thank you was all she could say as she opened the plate of food and started eating, its been long she ate a good food, she has missed a lot of things, she has missed school also, for 7weekz now she has not been in school, she has not seen her sister and she had not eaten well. But she was grateful for being alive. Stanley watched as she ate the food, he knew she had a lot in her mind and so he let her eat in peace, but after a while he decided to speak.
Now that you have eaten, will you please tell me what happened to you? But before that tell me your name. Nadia looked at him surprised, she was surprised that he was asking for her name. Why are you asking me my name like you don’t know my name Nadia asked; Stanley was surprised by the question, no I don’t know your name he answered, Nadia looked at him again, you don’t know my name she asked again, Stanley was by now no longer comfortable with the question. ”Frank you don’t know my name” she asked again, then Stanley smiled, he finally understood that she is mistaken him for his twin, ”I get you, I get you he said smiling, well am not Frank, Frank is my twin brother, my name is Stanley. Nadia stared at him trying to understand what he was saying, then he continued I was the one you rescued three Years ago in that uncompleted building, do you remember? Things began to become clearer before Nadia, it was this man standing before her that she had helped three years ago, no wonder Frank didnt recognise her at the start and no wonder he acted the way he did towards her. She finally understood the whole thing and for the first time she was glad she didnt call the police on Frank and mama.
Wow! She exclaimed how can two people be exactly one person she asked? Staring at Stanley. I never had the chance to come back to you to say thank you for what you did that night, I wanted so much to, Stanley continued, but I couldn’t come, I wanted to make sure I was better than what you saw that night before coming back and so I went there last year but you were gone. I asked around and no one saw you or knew where you went to. Nadia looked at him and then asked hope you no longer do that thing, he laughed very loud before answering, no no no not anymore, two of my friends died that night, I was lucky to escape and be alive, it was God giving me a second chance and so I had to use it well. I now work as an engineer, I sell electronics. I repair electrical faults for people also and other menial stuffs. Nadia smiled and said that was okay! A good and honest job was better than any illegal job. Nadia then told him her name was NADIA! and went further to tell him everything that happened to her. Stanley was furious and angry, he was causing and swearing, he swore to do everything within his power to catch those boys and make them pay. Nadia then told him to please contact mama do that they will let Ruth know that she was fine and okay. Right there Stanley brought out his phone and called Frank, frank insisted on talking with Nadia to be sure it was Nadia, after speaking with him, Nadia felt happier, she knew soon she will see Ruth again. She was glad that fate threw her to the right person. She was grateful to God. Just then the doctor stepped in.
”Mr Stanley you are here” he turned and shook hands with him and then to Nadia he smiled and asked how she was feeling to which she said fine. ”Well I’ve got some news, and I don’t know if I’d call it good or bad news” Stanley and Nadia turned and looked at him. ”What is it Stanley asked” well the young lady is fine now and can discharge home any moment from now, the crack on her skull is almost healed and the infections on her body is also healed, the poison from the snake bite has been extracted out, for now she will have to use one clutch until she is strong enough to walk all by herself. She has to rest a lot so she can heal completely” ” that’s no problem sir, I assure you that she will have a lot of rest Stanley said. That’s good replied the doctor but there i s something else, what is it doctor Stanley asked again.
She is pregnant! Congrats ma, the doctor said and walked away.
