“Complicated”

Episode 12

After realizing he hadn’t seen or heard from her in a while, Ore’s pastor decided to visit her along with his wife. Ore was surprised to see them but welcomed them warmly into her home.

After inquiring about her well-being, the pastor and his wife got to the purpose of their visit. “You haven’t been coming to church, and you haven’t been picking up my calls,” the pastor noted.

“I’m sorry, it’s just that a lot has been going on,” Ore explained.

“Do you care to share?” asked the pastor’s wife, offering a sympathetic look.

Ore hesitated for a moment, weighing the wisdom of confiding in them. Seeing their genuine concern, she decided to open up.

“It’s a bit complicated,” Ore began, her voice faltering. “I’ve been facing some personal challenges that have kept me from church.”

The pastor nodded encouragingly, prompting her to continue. “Well, it’s about my marriage and… and I found out I’m pregnant,” Ore disclosed, not yet revealing the full complexity of her situation.

The pastor’s wife reached out, taking Ore’s hand in hers. “Oh, Ore, that’s both wonderful news. But why would this keep you from church?”

Ore sighed deeply. “The pregnancy isn’t my husband and I… I met someone else during our honeymoon.” Ore went ahead to tell them the story.

The room fell silent for a moment as the gravity of Ore’s confession settled in. The pastor cleared his throat. “I see. That is indeed very complex. But remember, Ore, no matter the situation, you’re not alone. God’s love and forgiveness are always available to you, and we are here to support you, not to judge.”

“Thank you,” Ore murmured, feeling a weight lift slightly with her admission. “I’ve been so scared about everything—the future, what people will think, how I’m going to handle this.”

The pastor’s wife squeezed her hand. “What you need right now is support and guidance. We can provide that. And you need to know that no problem is too big for God. He guides us through even our darkest times.”

The pastor’s voice grew more serious as he continued, “Our second reason for visiting today is because I had a revelation about you, and I thought it was important to share it with you.”

Ore listened intently, a sense of apprehension growing within her.

“In the revelation, I saw that all the members of your family and your husband’s family were bound with chains and being tormented day and night, except for you and your mother-in-law.”

“Adetola’s mother?” Ore interjected, surprised.

“Yes, and she was calling on you to join her in freeing everyone, but you were too weak to help her. Eventually, the whole family perished, including you.”

Ore felt a chill run down her spine. “What does this mean, Pastor?”

“It means that your whole family is in danger, and you are the one to save them. It appears your mother-in-law is not in a position to fight; she needs you,” the pastor explained.

“So, what do I do, Pastor?”

“Pray, and return to God. You need to be fully committed. I see how you are conflicted between your family demands and spiritual lives. You need to make up your mind and live your life fully for God. No cutting corners, God deserve your full commitment.”

Ore nodded, absorbing the gravity of the pastor’s words. The idea that she could be a pivotal figure in such a dire prophecy was overwhelming, but the pastor’s earnest expression convinced her of the seriousness of his vision.

As they prepared to leave, the pastor offered a prayer for Ore, asking for strength, wisdom, and peace for her during this tumultuous time. Ore thanked them genuinely, feeling more equipped to face the challenges ahead with their support and the reassurance of prayer.

After the pastor and his wife left, Ore found herself pondering the role her mother-in-law might play in the troubling prophecy. She recalled that it had been her mother-in-law who had initially suggested substituting her for Dara as Adetola’s bride. Determined to uncover more about this, Ore made a mental note to visit her and gather more information.

Following the visit from her pastor, Ore committed more time to prayer and meditating on God’s word. Meanwhile, Adetola had not returned home since leaving her at the hospital. Despite this, Ore decided to focus on her job and trust God to guide her in making the right decisions regarding the pregnancy. She knew she needed to prepare mentally for the upcoming meeting with the CEO of Eclexia.

Meanwhile, Darasimi took one last look in the mirror, feeling perfectly dressed for what she planned to do. She walked out of her room and downstairs to her car, dismissing her driver and choosing to drive herself. Her destination was an exclusive resort she had visited years ago for a wild party attended by wealthy older men.

She had already paid the resort’s manager handsomely for access and information on when her target would be there. Today was the day. At the entrance, after giving her name, she was allowed in. She scanned the room and spotted her target who was not alone—just as she expected. Instead of approaching him directly, she took a detour to a table where she was sure he couldn’t miss seeing her. She seated herself and placed her order, confident it wouldn’t be long before he noticed her and came over.

As she sipped her drink, Darasimi saw him out of the corner of her eye making his way towards her. She braced herself for the encounter, determined not to leave until she had accomplished her purpose.

“Darasimi, what are you doing here?” the man asked, startled.

She turned in feigned surprise, “Oh good evening sir,” she responded casually, masking her true intentions.

Meanwhile, after a prolonged absence, Adetola finally returned home and approached Ore with a sense of urgency. “We need to talk,” he said.

“About what?” Ore asked.

“The pregnancy. I take full responsibility for my actions. Yes, if I hadn’t left you alone in Dubai, perhaps this wouldn’t have happened, but it has, and we must look for a way to move past it.”

“I’m listening.”

“If this pregnancy gets out and our parents find out, there will be hell to pay on both sides. So, I’m thinking this is probably the perfect solution to our predicament.”

“How do you mean?”

“With this pregnancy, we don’t need artificial insemination or surrogacy; we just need to pass the pregnancy off as mine.”

“Are you crazy? Another man’s child to take over your father’s legacy?”

“Look, I don’t care about all of that. As far as I’m concerned, it’s as good as adopting a child. We just have to be intentional about raising the child.”

“So what if the father shows up?”

“What if he doesn’t? And if he does, are you going to tell him the child is his? I suggest we tell our parents that we are pregnant, and when the child is born, if it’s a boy, we go our separate ways.”

“Adetola, this plan could go very wrong.”

“Well, it’s all we have now. I suggest you give it some thought.” With that, Adetola left the room, leaving Ore to contemplate the gravity of his proposal.
