The past 5.
“Wait,” she said with an awry smile plastered all over her face.
“What is it again?” I quizzed, seemingly annoyed, but tried to hide it.
“Before we do anything, I want us to talk first. There is something important that I feel like discussing with you”
“Must it be now? Can’t we talk about it tomorrow or some other time? Why are you bringing up such talk in the middle of something very important?”
My gaze was on her transparent short night gown; feeding off her cleav.age and semi visible nipp.les and it made me hard.
Dawn, Oly was so beautiful.
Surprisingly, she pushed me aside and stood up; walked to the mirror, and adjusted her hair cap before turning towards me.
“Who is Ada, Beatrice, and Pearl? ”
Her question threw me off balance because I never expected such a question. I quickly jolted from the bed and sat on the edge of the bed.
With a trembling lips, I managed to ask mutter inaudibly.
“Honey, I don’t understand this your question tonight. I thought this was supposed to be the best night of our lives?”
She gave me a stern look and turned towards the mirror again. After some seconds, she walked towards me; eyes shining like fire.
“I ask again. Why did you deny that you weren’t responsible for Beatrice’s pregnancy even when you know fully well that it belonged to you?.”, she howled.
How did she know about all these? I wondered.
She brought me back from oblivion with another bombshell.
” Why did you sleep with Pearl a day to our wedding day?.”, she blurted angrily.
This time around, we gazed intently at each other and connected on the fading highway of nostalgia, and upon the instance, I felt a mad rush of hot tears welling up beneath my quivering eyelids and as I made an attempt to speak, they raced down my cheeks.
Liquid fluids leaked out of my nostrils and wetted my lips; my polo being drenched with sweat.
I wanted to man up, but I couldn’t.
“How did you know all these things about meeeeee”, I stammered.
She drew closer to me, wiped off my tears with the back of her palms .
“I am your nemesis in human form and I have come into your life to make you pay for all you’ve done. I won’t waste time to hurt you if you ever reveal what you’re going through in this marriage. If you shut your mouth, I will let you live but if you do otherwise, I will make sure you don’t live to tell the story”, her voice echoed like thunder.
I froze.
No matter how much I tried to say something, empty air left my mouth. I tried to shout but it was as if I lost my voice.
The strong desire to make løve to Oly my wife, disappeared into thin air. My pimpim became flaccid.
At that instance, the proverbial meaning of the adage, “No matter how fast a car runs, it can never outrun the ground” became clearer to me.
