Chapter 17 THE END
Obi π§
I wasn’t bothered about Vero anymore ever since Ada left her house. my mother also didn’t hear anything from her family either as Ada decided to stay far away from them by living with us. What matters most to me now is Ada happiness and she’s surely happy.
my mother has grown to love Ada ever since she started living with us, infact they do go out together to buy things and sometimes she do carry her to her school. this is the type of life I want for her, a life full of Hope, vision accomplishment, joy and freedom.
“hey love “.
I felt her smooth hands moving round my back as she caress it smooching it.
“hunn… I like this”. I said enjoying how it flows.
“come on, don’t forget tomorrow is my graduation oo at least I’m happy you will be able to come before going back to school.”
“oh, yeah! “. I answered turning back to her as she lays back on the bed why I was on her holding her hands down the bed.
“what? “. She asked starring into my eyes smiling.
I kept staring at her with my head moving down towards her lips.
“your….”
I locked mouth with her own kissing her passionately as she grumbled beneath.
ko…ko..ko..ko
I didn’t hear the knock on the door on time because I have been longing and waiting for this moment. She pushed me off her immediately saying my mom is at the door.
“and moreover, you shouldn’t rushed things my love, wedding night is there.” She said smiling and going towards the door as I looked at my joystick whose attention is already high.
“why should it be wedding night!.” I muttered to myself as my mother entered.
“I have been knocking since, what are you two doing? “. My mother asked looking at both of us as I pretended to be arranging the bed.
“as…you.. can see Mom, i am spreading the bedspread.” I answered.
“with your boxer on you right?”. She said as I dragged the bedspread from the bed using it to cover the front of my boxer.
My mother and Ada laughed at me continuously.
“you two should just be careful, that’s all I can say. well, I came to ask how tomorrow is going to be?.
Ada answered her saying she has called her father and brothers in which he will be coming today.
“that’s good then, we need to get prepared and cook before they arrive”. My mother said in which I ran to her hugging her as I thank her for her generosity and hospitality.
Well, you all might be wondering I didn’t tell you about Ada’s family. yes, we discussed it and she told me that after I left the village, that her father took her to the hospital for DNA test to be very sure about who her real father is but, it came out as shocked when the results finally resorted to match with Ada’s father instead of the herb alist. It was a great joy to her father and others as he rejoiced back home happily with his daughter. Some months later her mother’s uncle came over and took her to Lagos where she lived. meanwhile,
My mother told me my grandma was only scared of loosing me because of what happened while in the village and she had wished non of her lineage would have anything doing with Ada’s family, just because of what they did to her husband. But, right now the will of live can’t be turned because where you think it might not work out from might be where it will surely start from.
Tomorrow is going to be a great day for her and I need to make a surprise graduation party for her. I went to a boutique called faith collection at Lagos branch to get her a lovely gown and heels.
“what is this? “. She asked.
“open it. ” I answered smiling as she opens.
She screamed jumping on me shouting that she loves it.

Her graduation day is such a memorizable one that can’t be forgotten. Her father joy on that day was unspeakable as he kept thanking and appreciating my mother every minute. The surprised party was also lit like, it was party to be remembered with so much excitement.
I left Lagos back to Canada two days after with my mom. My dad gave her and her father one of his house around Ajah to be living.
“my love I don’t know how I can really show my appreciation to your parents for their loving kindness”. She said while on video call with her.
“the only way to show it, is for you to be my wife “. I said as she laughed.
“come on I’m serious right now “. She said.
“”I’m also serious my armour”. I answered with a funny look as she laughed.
We both gisted for a while in which I suddenly remembered to tell her an interesting story I had been wanting to tell her.
“what is that?”. She asked.
“guess who I saw in school today”.
“your friends of course!”. She answered.
“well, they are not. would you believe if I tell you Vero is still alive”.
“it’s a lie!”. She said looking flabbergasted.
“I’m serious, like she even greeted me.
“did you answer her?..” She asked
“of course! I did but, I was literally shocked and surprised as you.
“definitely she survived the knocked out of that day.
“yeah, but the painful part is that she is using clutch to walk.
“are you for real? “. She asked exclaiming.
“I’m serious my armour.”
“oh! my Vero, see what she caused for herself now I’m happy she didn’t di e. “. She started crying.
“stop it, why crying now?”. I said.
“Maybe that was why her father refused picking my father’s call. ” She said.
“don’t worry about them again, just worry about yourself for now.”

SOME YEARS LATER
I returned back to Nigeria after my study and then got a job at a petroleum agency. Ada works in GT Bank as Cashier
I proposed to her on the 11th of may 2020 as we set to marry on the 24th of July 2020. The invitation card went viral. infact, my grandma who doesn’t have any choice than to accept Ada as my wife was the one publicizing it to people in the village.
Wedding Day π°π€΅
On our wedding day I was in awe seeing a lot of people seated in the church as we walked down the altar.
“do you take Adaobi Ekenne as your loving wedded wife for richer and poorer till dea ths do you part?.” The pastor asked.
“yes, I do.” I answered with so much tears in my eyes.
He asked the same question from Ada.
“yes, I do, for richer and richer.”. She said holding unto my hands tightly as I was told to kiss the bride.
“I love you.” I said as she smiles.
“I love you too Nkem.”.
We left the church and started taking pictures with people when we both saw Veronica coming to snap with us. Ada quickly helped her up to our side as we all snapped together.
“I’m sorry for everything”. She said holding the two of us hands.
“you two made me realized that there are some love you shouldn’t interfer with or rather just give up to. I have learnt my lesson in a hard way (looking at her crutches) I really wish I could turns back the hands of the clock, I think I would have rethink my affection towards you and most especially my cousin Ada. All I can say is for you to just forgive me and just have me back, Because I have been so scared to come face you ever since.” she said crying.
Ada hugged her in tears telling her she’s happy that she finally get back to her.
“at least the incident of that day didn’t affect me or anything. God has destined it to be, but it didn’t ends up badly.
They both laughed hugging each other when mama fashion came with her big fly over Gele.
“my children oya come let snapped together”. She said holding Ada hand behind her.
All through our dance floor she was just crying in which I knew it’s because of her mother absence.
Hotel Room π°π€΅
After everything we went back to our base at the hotel at night looking so stressed out.
“I need to shower.” Ada said pulling off her cloth as I looked at her childishly taken my eyes off.
“what is wrong with this one”. She said laughing as she walked unclad to the bathroom.
I pulled my cloth immediately and went inside to join her.
“I thought you are shy?”. She asked laughing looking at me.
“not anymore! because I just remembered what we have to do on our wedding night.” I said holding on to her waist smiling like someone who just won jackpot.
“ohh I see, definitely tonight is going to be sweet and enjoyable.” She said.

We both laughed.
