Nnedi was busy in the kitchen making dinner when her daughter came in staring at her like a witch
What’s the matter? Nnedi asked
I’m pregnant mum..she said sitting on a stool
I don’t understand what you mean by you’re pregnant, for who?
You’re just 16 ooo..Nnedi shouted
Can’t you help me out eh? Mum do something nah..she pleaded
You will be talking to me sarcastically, respect you don’t have for me, always fighting me like your age mate..Nnedi said blowing the fire
She hissed,punched her mum on the face and dashed out
Useless daughter, you better abort that child before your father finds out,if not you’re leaving this house.. Nnedi shouted rubbing her cheeks
She cried bitterly, asking God the kind of daughter he gave to her
One morning Nnedi was sweeping the compound when her husband called her
Nnedi, for how long has your daughter been staying in this house with her pregnancy? She’s leaving this house.. Mr Emmanuel barked
Be calming down nah,she’s pregnant doesn’t mean she has committed abomination, let her stay,she’s still a young girl
Okay where did you expect her to go when you send her out eh? Nnedi said
I sent my daughter out because she got pregnant for who knows, now your daughter is pregnant and you want her to continue staying under this roof,it’s not going to work Nnedi, if you want her to stay here you have to go get my daughter.. Mr Emmanuel replied moving away from her
Who’s your daughter? Is she more important and special than mine? Amaka is not coming back here and my daughter is going nowhere.. She said

Amaka sat with the old woman who sheltered her and made sure she doesn’t lack anything
The woman registered her for waec
On the last day of the exam she went into labour
She struggled so hard to finish up,immediately she was done she boarded a cab home, jumping up and down in pains
She cried holding the woman as they left for the hospital
