“Men can be Wicked.” Joy replied after Bella explained what happened with Anita on their WhatsApp group chat.
“I know but some girls can be foolish. After everything Bella told her.” Chioma said feeling for Anita but angry at her stupidity and obstinate attitude to Bella’s advice.
“So Bella, you sabi help person? Abeg run me small 10k na.” Nancy said to tease Bella.
“No bi onle 10k.” Bella replied sending a laughing emoji.
“I will commit abortion o.” Nancy sends.
Joy, Chioma and Bella reacts with a laughing emoji on Nancy’s message as Bella sends her reply; “I know a very good doctor that specialises in doing it.”
“You and your good doctor should go to hell.” Came Nancy’s reply.
“Oya rest. Have you sent your balance of the money to Joy?” Bella asks.
“Yes. We have agreed to go check the house again on Sunday. They should be finalizing on the work.” Nancy replied.
They decided to acquire a house in Surulere where they can live together after Chioma and Joy complained of wanting to relocate. It’s not something new as they were once roommates back in the university except for Joy. Joy wasn’t their roommates but they all met in school.
“I can’t wait for us to settle into our new house so that “our big aunty” can be doing all the cooking.” Chioma sends refering to no one in particular but having Bella in mind.
“Who is the big aunty?” Bella asked sending an emoji with only two eyes and no mouth.
“I didn’t call anyone’s name o.” Chioma defended knowing that She’s no match for Bella.
When it comes to having a banter, no one is a match for Bella.
“Get ready to do all the cooking, Chommy.” Bella said replying to Chioma’s last message.
“I will not agree to that o. We’ll have a cooking timetable. Agreed?”
“Agreed.” Came their reply.
They all left Joy to prepare the cooking timetable.
Chioma knew that that was the only way to avoid being the one doing most of the cooking as Bella will always look for a way to avoid cooking at all.
“Goodnight, girls. ” Bella typed.
“This one Bella is going off before everyone else. . . what’sup.” Nancy asked.
“I have this important call I have to attend to. I may be off for long.”
“Hmmm. Is it with a man or a man.” Chioma asked as Joy reacts with a laughing emoji on her message.
“Lol. I’ll tell you guys in due time.” Bella replies as they retire for the night and she gets on a call with Ben, Joy’s admirer.
Episode 6.
“I told you. This house is the best among others.” Nancy boasts as they went into each room.
Work was still going on in the building at least it was just left with minor jobs like fixing of the wires and sockets. It has already been repainted. Some carpenters were busy with the fixing of the wallrope. It has a spacious sitting room and three bedrooms. The kitchen was adjacent to the sitting room.
“I can’t wait for us to park in already.” That was Chioma as Bella replies; “If you can’t wait, park in already na.”
“Bella you just like trouble. I don’t have your time now.” Chioma replies as they step out once more to the front of the building where some men were busy working on the lighting. Joy was busy looking at every corner of the house when she bumps into someone. It was a familiar face.
“You?”
“You?”
They both say at the same time.
“Pardon my manners, miss. I’m Adekunle. I didn’t get to know your name from the bus the other time.”
‘who goes around telling people their names in public.” Joy says in her mind.
“I’m Joy.”
“It’s nice meeting you again, pretty Joy.”
That was obviously a tactics.
Bella, Chioma and Nancy stood behind wondering who this handsome dude was and how they met. “It’s the guy’s height for me.” Chioma said.
“With the way you fantasize about tall guys don’t end up with a tall fool o. You remember Paul in our class. Tall for nothing. I will choose a short man over and over again as far as he has brains and money.”
“If Bella didn’t mention money, I will know it’s not Bella talking.” Nancy said jokingly.
Bella was about walking forward to meet the duo when Nancy called out to her.
“What are you doing?”
“Joy has to do some introduction.” Bella replied still moving forward. Nancy and Chioma follows suit.
“Hii.” Bella says as she stands beside Adekunle.
“Oh, Adekunle meet my friends. Bella, Nancy and Chioma.”
Adekunle gives them a soft handshake adding, “it’s nice meeting you Pretty Angels”.
“The pleasure is ours, Adekunle Gold.” Bella replies as Adekunle laughs revealing a perfect set of teeth though his Incisors were abit large. Like those of a rabbit about to be slaughtered.
“It’s just Adekunle. No Gold except your beautiful friend here. . .” He says refering to Joy; “Agrees to be my Simi.”
That was a smart move. Bella thought. They all laughed in unison. Even a child could guess that the laugh was all fake but Adekunle โfrom the look on his face, the broad smile plastered on his faceโ you can tell he felt he was funny.
“I just got to know that this is your new home. I promise to make sure everything is perfect before you finally move in.” He assures.
Bella noticed Joy’s countenance. She was smiling but Bella knew it was all a facade. A cold smile.
“Alright, Joy can I get your contact?”
Joy knew what he did. He had been requesting for it even before the girls arrived.
He stretches out his phone as Joy punches in her digit.
“Take care, Adekunle Gold.” Bella calls out as they left laughing.
“Who’s that handsome dude?” Bella asked as soon as they were away. “With his rabbit like incisors.”
“You remember that stingy guy I met in the bus last time?” Joy asked laughing at the “rabbit like incisors” description of Adekunle’s teeth.
“You mean the one that couldn’t leave 100 naira change for you?”
“Exactly.” Joy answers Bella.
Joy felt bad at the realisation of Adekunle being one of the engineer working on their new house. Something was sure. He might become a frequent face in the area; she has to do something to avoid that.
Chioma who was far behind had to run to meet up with them ahead.
“You guys now left me behind but that Adekunle guy is handsome o.” Chioma was saying when Bella added. . .”That was how Anita started and ended up with an unwanted pregnancy.”
“Don’t compare me with Anita o.” Chioma said running to hit Bella playfully as they got to their last bustop before they part ways when a car pulled over.
“Ben?” Joy was surprised seeing Ben around that vicinity.
Bella wasn’t surprised but she tried to avoid eye contact with Ben.
