Chapter 3
Sandra missed her period for good three months, she wasn’t bothered thinking that her boyfriend will accept the child and pay her bride price immediately
She told him about the pregnancy and Michael denied it, she stood looking at Michael like a tree she turned her back and left Michael’s place crying
You brought this upon yourself Sandra.. Khloe told her
Brought what upon myself? My tummy is already showing that I’m pregnant and my mum has been asking me if I’m alright Khloe,I never believed Michael……
Believe it now, the deed has been done, why on earth will you even miss your period and didn’t do something about it? You would have told him the first month you missed your period now it’s late.. Khloe interrupted
Khloe I’m finished! Michael is wicked and you know what, This child is mine I’ll take care of him or her,if I ever see Michael close to the house I’ll pour acid on him.. Sandra said crying
He’s the father of the child so don’t deprive him from seeing his on child.. Khloe told her
Sandra Continued crying till they got home, she met her mum outside washing bitter leaves
Good evening ma.. Khloe greeted and went inside
Welcome ooo.. Sandra’s mum responded then faced her daughter
Why are you crying? What happened? She asked her bewildered daughter
Mum i have something to tell you.. Sandra replied biting her lower lip
I’m all ears, talk to me Sandra I’m your mother…
“Mum I met this guy last four months,he asked me out and I accepted but before the relationship started he told me he wants a serious relationship that will lead to marriage
He even went further to tell me that if I mistakenly get pregnant for him that he was going to marry me” Sandra said
What happened then? When is he coming to marry you because you’re three months gone.. Her mum said to Sandra’s shock
How did you know? Sandra asked shaking
I’m a mother and your mother too so you are mine and I know when you’re fine and when you ain’t fine
When is he coming? She asked again
Mum you won’t believe that he sent me out of his house and denied the pregnancy in front of his friends.. Sandra replied
What are you going to do about it,I mean about the baby because you can’t live in this house you are old enough to rent an apartment beside you’re working.. Her mum said
Mum! Sandra called
I’m busy Sandra, you want to stay in this house so that your father will disfigure you and my grandchild right? That baby is mine and I don’t want anything to happen to him/her,go and look for a good and comfortable apartment I’ll help you pay for it.. Her mum said
Sandra stared at her mum from head to toe, she hugged her tightly from the back and showered her with praises
“I love you mum” she said and ran inside
Abeg ooo, you want Clara to make mockery of me,hmmmm.. Her mum said to herself
The next day Sandra and Khloe left for work,they were on their way when a car pulled up in front of them
It was Michael’s friend Edozie,he begged Sandra to enter the car
“Khloe I’ll meet you at work please” she told Khloe who was already leaving
Edozie took Sandra to a hotel where he pleaded with her to forgive his friend and came up with a lie
He told Sandra how Michael use girls and dump them whenever he realizes they’re pregnant for him,he went further to tell her all sorts of lie just to get Sandra emotional and sleep with her
“Michael is married” he told her
Michael is married? He didn’t care to tell me all this while… Sandra replied crying out her heart
Sorry dear, take heart..he consoled her already taking advantage of her
When he was done,he left her and drove out leaving the depressed Sandra all alone
Sat got up, dressed and left the hotel
Why is your face like that? Khloe asked her
How is it?
Where did edozie take you to? Khloe asked again
Nowhere Khloe,I’m fine.. she replied
You are not fine, since your mum has promised to help you rent an apartment why not forget about Michael and move on with your life eh?
Khloe is not easy,only me can’t stay in an apartment nah..
I agreed to stay with you,you forget things a lot.. Khloe shouted at her
Sandra scratched her hair and went to get a seat for herself
“I saw you with Sandra hours ago” Michael told his friend
Yes, only went to buy things for her that’s all…he lied
Things for her in a hotel? Michael shouted
Why are you shouting? I thought you denied the pregnancy and sent her out of this house,why are you having headache over her again? Edozie shouted back at him
She is my woman Edozie, don’t do nonsense with her I beg you to avoid burying you alive.. Michael warned
Person wey I don f**k already.. Edozie murmured to him
