Doctor Gideon’s wife episode 7

Episode 7

Doctor Gideon’s Wife 💔

Before the end of the day, I had come up with what I thought was a solution to my problem. Quickly, I unblocked Tricia and put a call through to her. We fixed a date.

After work, I drove down to the location and had to wait for about ten minutes before she finally arrived.

She made orders and I proceeded to the issues that brought us there.

“I’m sorry for the way I spoke to you earlier today, I wasn’t in the right frame of mind”. I began.

She didn’t respond immediately as she was busy uncanning her drinks. When she was done, she lifted the bottle up, ignoring the glass cups on the table. She didn’t stop until she emptied the content into her system, then she dropped the bottle noisily on the table.

Who is this girl?.

“Tricia, did you say you’re pregnant?”. I was forced to ask.

She looked at me with annoyance in her eyes.

“Don’t ask me that use!ss question… did I not give you the test results which you carelessly flung at me?”.

“Okay, okay, I’m sorry about that, I didn’t mean to… now, what do we do?”

“What do you mean by that?, you know the right thing to do”.

“Which is?”. I asked, somewhat scared of her response.

“Marry me”. She said.

An emergency cough escaped me.

As I coughed, she wasn’t doing anything to help, at least, I expected to get a ‘sorry’ from her. She was busy, devouring the pepper soup on the table before her.

I coughed for some times before I finally found my voice again.

“You know that’s not possible.. have you forgotten I’m a married man?”.

She dropped the spoon and broke into a thunderous laughter, making me look like a fool before everyone present at the bar.

“See oo, no dey take marriage scare me, my mama na fourth wife she be, so don’t try to scare me with that….. After that, she proceeded to uncanning my own bottle.
…… since you don’t want to drink, I will help you out”

This girl is even more irresponsible than I used to think.

“Tricia, I’m sorry about your mom but the truth is, my own father did not marry more than one wife, it won’t start from me”.

She smiled her usual nonchalant smile.

“I have told you what I want, it’s either you marry me or I bring this matter to the hospital”.

This is even going to be tougher than I thought.

“What if I offer you five hundred thousand naira to leave my life alone?”.

She was startled at first.

“Gideon, why do you always think everything is about the money?. Yes, I know I need that money but I also need a name. I need a man of my own, I’m not getting younger”. She said.

“What if I make it 1 million?”. I insisted.

“Just, stop”. She retorted, looking more serious now.

I gave up.

Before we parted ways that night, I asked her to give me some times to think it over.

Gogoo and I continued talking everyday on the phone and one day, we finally fixed a date for the both of us.

The plan was just to hang out and talk but I didn’t know what pushed me into professing love to her and she gladly accepted.

“My mom has made me fall deeply in love with you even before I set my eyes on you”. She confessed.

And that was how our love journey started.

I do go to her house to pick her up and after playing at the park, we would drive down to a hotel (not Freeworld, anymore). And later on on I would return her back to her mom.

Meanwhile, Tricia still calls everyday too, to know what I have come up with, but I kept procrastinating.

“Gideon, there’s no time oo”. She would always remind.

“I will get back to you in two days time”. I would reply.

But the two days never arrived.

Most of the times, I ignored her calls only to send her a text at the end that I have been so busy at work.

‘Work load is too heavy on me, but I will try and make out time for us’

The stress was already too much on me that period and to add to it, I received a call from my mon on Wednesday afternoon.

“Since you’re not going to make out time and bring your family home for me to see, I will be coming there by myself next week”. She had announced.

“Mummy, no no no , you don’t have to bother yourself, I will send Sandra and Emmanuel over, this weekend”. I pleaded.

She smiled. I knew she may be thinking that, it is another means I want to use and abandoned my family in the village.

“Don’t worry, I have already prepared for my journey, I only called to inform you’. She finalized and hung up.

I became uncomfortable after that. Of every other time to visit, why now?. And I knew her coming was going to be worse than Tricia trying to pin me down with fake pregnancy. I knew she was going to make me do things I hate and who knows how long she was going to stay..

Speaking of how long, I picked my phone and called her back, without giving it a second thought.

“Mom, how long are you going to stay when you come?’. I asked as soon as she picked up.

“What kind of question is that?, I will stay as long as I feel like”. She answered.

This is serious.

On Monday afternoon at the office, I was on seat during consultation hour and after one person left, I requested to attend to one more before I go for ward check..

I was taking down a note when the door opened and through the corner of my eye, I saw a patient walked in and stood in front of the table.

“Sit down, please”. I offered, without bothering to look up.

“Thank you, doc”. Came the voice.

There was something about that voice.. I looked up and saw it… sitting there and staring at me with a mischievous grin across her face was Tricia…

“What is this?”. I asked.

“Nothing. You said you don’t always have time, right?. It’s fine. We have all the time now, I’m one of your patients, I have my card here with me”. She said, waving the consultation card at me

Why can’t I just have peace?….
