Flashback.
From Roseline’s point of view.
One might wonder why I had to assume something was going on between Annabelle and my fiance, Deji.
The truth is, the very day I and Deji officiated the orientation of the new employees, I noticed that Deji was staring at Annabelle as if he had seen a ghost and she did the same.
That same day, while I was heading to his office, I saw Annabelle coming out of his office. And as I walked into Deji’s office, I saw him hastily sweeping some papers off the floor. I didn’t take it seriously until the night we had dinner with Raymond. I noticed that at the mention of Annabelle, Deji almost choked on the water he was drinking and ended up excusing himself from the dining as he was somewhat uncomfortable. Yes, I noticed all that.
The next thing that made me suspicious, was when I ran to Deji to inform him of my father’s approval of us getting married.
That day, I realized how shocked and scared Annabelle stood when she heard the news. But what made me even more suspicious was the way Deji turned and stared at her with guilt in his eyes. I also noticed how awkward Annabelle was and how quickly she left the place trying to suppress her feelings. I noticed all of this, but of course, I didn’t want to unnecessarily point an accusing finger at someone when I wasn’t hundred percent sure if my suspicions were right or wrong.
But then, that same day, I saw him call for Annabelle, who went into his office and came out with sadness in her eyes. I saw her wiping her tears that day as she left Deji’s office.
Later that same day, when Deji met Annabelle’s son, I remember his facial expression changing. He was sad and continued to stare at the boy as if he felt sorry for him. And at that moment I had to ask myself if he was the father of that child. But of course, after a second thought, I realized that it doesn’t make any sense.
But then I wanted to satisfy my curiosity. Then luckily for me, my father told me about his intention to send me on a business trip with Deji, and then I took that opportunity to suggest that he send Raymond and Annabelle too.
I went as far as asking my father to book two rooms for us. As that would enable me to find out what their relationship was. And when my father called them and told them about the business trip, I noticed Annabelle and Deji staring at each other.
When we arrived at the hotel on the first day, I deliberately suggested that Raymond and Annabelle share a single room. To get Annabelle and Deji’s reaction.
At the end of the day, when Raymond suddenly announced that he and Annabelle were dating, I noticed how Deji restlessly kept pacing around different corners of our hotel room that day.
And when I purposely asked him about what he thinks of Raymond and Annabelle’s relationship, his response made me suspicious too.
Then when I intentionally set him up with Annabelle for the business meeting, I noticed the smirk on his face. I don’t know what to believe right now. But one thing is for sure, and that is, I have grown suspicious of both of them.
But on a second thought, what if my assumptions are wrong? What if Annabelle is blackmailing him? What if he is only restless because she keeps making him do things he doesn’t want to do?
Because I am very sure that Deji can’t possibly choose a Yizef stories single mother over me. So it’s either she is trying to get him to take care of her or something else that he is finding difficult to open up to me.
At this point, I don’t even know what to think anymore.

Present day.
From the writer’s point of view.
As Deji said those words to Annabelle, she suddenly felt a sudden weakness in her bones. She became tired of everything. And the next thing she did, was burst into tears.
Then in a calm tone, she asked:
“In what way have I ever wronged you? You have made it seem like I committed a huge crime by knowing you in the past and falling in love with you. Because what should I call this? I can’t even tell what I did to you and why you just won’t let me be despite all the pain you’ve caused me. Deji I have never wished you anything bad in life, even after everything you’ve done to me. But at this point, you’re gradually pushing me to the wall and turning me into a crazy woman. And I might be pushed into saying things I never wanted to say because you’re still the biological father of my child. So please, Deji, I beg you, just go away. Mind your business. Concentrate on your girlfriend and please let me be. I’m tired of constantly exchanging words with you all the time. Because it always messes with my brain,” Annabelle said calmly with tears.
“If you want me to leave you alone, then you need to leave the company and end any relationship you have with Raymond,” Deji said.
Hearing this word, Annabelle didn’t know when she gave Deji a hard slap on his left chin.
Then pointing at him, she said:
“You have no right whatsoever to dictate who I remain in a relationship with. You also don’t have the right to tell me to quit a job I worked so hard for,” Annabelle said with tears in her eyes and pain in her heart.
“Then you leave me no choice but to impose my plans on you. If you don’t leave with your pride intact, you will be forced to leave with shame,” Deji said.
And at that point, Annabelle, who was already fed up with his annoying words, simply slammed the door in his face.
Seeing this, Deji burst out laughing.
But unknown to him, Roseline and Raymond were already standing in a corner, watching the whole scenario.
“See what I told you?” Roseline said.
“I don’t think that’s the case, Roseline,” Raymond said.
“What do you mean by that?” Roseline asked, staring at him curiously.
“Isn’t it obvious that he’s the one going after her?” Raymond asked with a scoff.
“You think so?” Roseline asked.
“Yes. You must have mistaken it to be the other way round. Because obviously, you are jealous. No offense though. But I already had a suspicion that Deji likes Annabelle and has been trying to force a relationship on her,” Raymond said.
“How?” Roseline asked.
βThere was a time he assigned a difficult task to Annabelle. It was a task I helped her complete. Because on a normal, such task was not meant to be a one-man’s job. But Deji for reasons best known to him, instructed Annabelle to do it all by herself. This was a task that kept us in the office that day until it was about 10 to 11 p.m. Then just imagine if it was done by Annabelle alone. Deji has actually been a thorn in her flesh for reasons best known to him. The things he makes her do sometimes at work, are not always necessary. It always feels like he is purposely trying to frustrate her. And in case you noticed earlier today, Annabelle was begging to go with me instead of him. And when she realized she had no option but to go with him, I noticed she looked scared and sad. I don’t know what it is yet, but I believe there is more to your claims,” ββRaymond said.
“Hmmmm,” Roseline sighed deeply and said. “Then are you aware that they both attended the same university?” she asked.
“What?” Raymond asked, staring at her in disbelief.
“Yes, they did,” She said.
βHow did you know that?” Raymond asked.
βI went through her personal data. And that’s how I found out. So you see why I think they might have known each other before now. I have this hunch that he might have had a one-stand with her in time past. Or a relationship. Like his side chick or something” Roseline said.
“No, I don’t believe that,” Raymond said.
βWhy?” Roseline asked.
βWell, that’s because Annabelle already told me that her first and last boyfriend, was her baby daddy. So there’s no possibility that those two might have dated before” Raymond said.
“And you believe that? Maybe she met him after the birth of her child. And besides, women shouldn’t be trusted so easily. Because we can only tell you things we want you to know. I mean think about it. What woman would like her new boyfriend to know about her having multiple body counts? It’s obvious she has deceived you into believing her lies. But sincerely speaking, I don’t know why I don’t trust that girl,” Roseline said.
“I understand that you only trust and love your boyfriend. But you might end up not finding out the truth because you keep judging with resentment towards Annabelle and not the two of them. So in the end, you will only see the things you want your eyes to see. I mean, how can you find out the truth when you’ve already concluded in your heart that Annabelle is the one going after your man without considering that it could be the other way round?” Raymond asked.
“How do you expect me to believe someone who goes about opening her legs for every man? Someone who doesn’t know who the father of her son is? You know what? I don’t know what or who to believe anymore. So let’s just go inside and get some rest for today because my head is spinning as we speak,” Roseline said.
(In Annabelle’s hotel room)
Annabelle, was sitting on the edge of the bed crying, when she heard a knock on her door.
Thinking it was still Deji, she started screaming as loud as possible.
“Go away you monster. You heartless piece of trash. For heaven’s sake stop pestering my life!” she yelled, throwing her footwear at the door.
“Annabelle? It’s me,” Raymond said in a calm tone.
Hearing this, she jumped up from the bed and immediately unlocked the door and pulled it open.
Seeing immediately that it was Raymond, she threw her arms around him and hugged him while bursting into tears.
“Hey… what’s going on?” Raymond asked, raising her face with his palms on her cheeks.
But Annabelle couldn’t say a word. The longer she stared at Raymond, the more tears ran down her cheeks.
“It’s okay. It’s fine,” Raymond said, patting her on the back.
A few moments later, they were both sitting next to each other on the edge of the bed. Then Raymond held Annabelle’s hand in his and asked:
“Now that you’re calm, would you like to tell me what the problem is? Why were you crying earlier?” Raymond asked, staring at her.
“Raymond, my past came haunting me again,” she said, fighting back tears.
“What past are you talking about?” Raymond asked.
“Deji,” revealed Annabelle.
“Deji? How? I don’t understand” Raymond said.
“Deji doesn’t want to see us together. So he has asked me to end this relationship and quit my job at the company,” Annabelle revealed.
“Why? What right does he have to say such a thing to you?” Raymond asked.
“I guess because he is my ex-boyfriend, and Jasper’s biological father,” Annabelle finally revealed.
Hearing this, Raymond let go of Annabelle’s hand and shifted away from her, with his eyes widened with shock.
“I’m sorry for not telling you sooner. I’m truly sorry Raymond,” Annabelle apologized, breaking into tears.
