*”STRUCK DOWN”*
*_EPISODE THREE_*

Charity got up from her sleep in pants. She has just had a very terrible dream.
“Jesus.” She whispered and tried finding her phone to check what time it was. It was 3am.
“God, this isn’t the kind of dream one has and does next to nothing about it.” She thought in her heart and knelt beside her bed to pray, cancelling the negative occurrences in the dream from manifesting in real-life.

“Good morning.” Debby said with a smile as soon as she saw Charity walk into the kitchen.
“Good morning, how was your night?”
“It was fine and yours?” Debby asked. She had wanted to hire a honest reply that hers wasn’t too good, but refrained herself.
“We thank God. What are you making? I hope it’s something delicious.”
“Ah ah… don’t you trust me again?” Debby said and giggled.
“Don’t worry I’d soon be done and we’d get eating in no time.” Debby assured her.
“Okay o.” Charity said and went to the parlour as a way of waiting for the “chef” and her food to be ready for consumption.
“How do I tell her about what I saw? How will she believe me?” Charity thought through as she sat in wait for Debby.
“Food is ready o.” Debby announced, snapping her out of her thoughts.
“Delicious right?” Debby asked in the middle of their meal.
“Yes. I’m surprised actually; i initially thought we were going to have poison for breakfast this morning.” Charity said and chuckled.
“Damn. Ah ah, why would you think like that?”
“You know na, you hardly cook. Anytime it’s your turn to cook for us, you come up with one excuse or the other and I end up being the one in the kitchen most of the time.”
“Ehn, that doesn’t mean I’ve lost my cooking skills.” She defended.
“Okay o.” Charity said and they both are quietly after that.
“How far na, this place is too quiet. Let’s watch film small while eating abi is there a rule that says your food should be eaten on the dining table?” Debby said when she sighted a movie showing on TV.
“Okay.” Charity said in agreement and with that they sat on the couch directly opposite the TV.
While Debby smiled and laughed in intervals as she watched and ate at the same time, Charity’s thoughts were busy devising a way to narrate her dream to her in a way that she’d listen and agree to pray with her about it.
“Charity!” Debby called for the umpteenth time, snapping her out of her thoughts.
“Are you alright? I’ve been calling your name for sometime now but you seem lost in thoughts. Is everything okay with you?”
“Yes uhmm…. everything is okay with me but there’s something I want to discuss with you.”
“Is that why you’re thinking like someone that wants to see the president of a country but doesn’t know how to gain entrance to the presidential Villa? Lol….I’m here now. So tell me, what’s up.”
“Lol okay….babe I had this dream about you.”
“Oh God not again. Dream dream dream dream. What’s with you and dreaming and must it always be about me?”
“Believe me Debby, it’s a mystery to me too. For the past two months, most of my dreams have been about you and today’s own was too scary to me that I had to kneel down and pray immediately.”
“Hmm…. alright I’m listening. What did you see this time?”
“In the dream I saw you walking with….” Charity began but was cut short by a call that came in for Debby.
“Oops, sorry I have to pick this call.” Debby said and went to the room to answer it. Charity seized the opportunity to re-strategise and rehearse her words.
“O Lord please touch her heart that she’d listen.” She prayed silently.
“Sorry for interrupting you jaree. A friend called and I don’t have card to return anyone’s call so I had to rush to pick it.” Debby said as soon as she came back to where Charity was.
“Lol….you’re funny sha.”
“Funny ke? How?”
“Were you not the one that received a huge amount of money not too long ago and sent your mom 200K??? How come you’re now too broke to return a call?” Charity asked
“Babe forget that one jare, the money is for something else; it’s not to be spent. Don’t worry when I get huge returns on the investment you’d know, I wouldn’t need to tell you.”
“Hmmm…… okay o.”
“Yeah. So tell me, what did you see this time?”
“Ehe yes. in that dream, I saw you walking hand in hand with someone, a man specifically. Unknown to you, he had a knife cleverly hidden behind him. As you all were chatting and going on a path, there was a big hole close-by which you weren’t aware of. Suddenly, you fell into that hole. You tried to reach out to the person you were walking with to help drag you out of that hole but he laughed like he was the one that planned your downfall, and used the knife he hid behind him to ensure you were severely wounded and unable to escape the trap.” Charity narrated as Debby listened with rapt attention.
“Hmmm…..okay so what’s the meaning of the dream? Abi who is the person trying to get me entrapped?”
“I don’t know, his face wasn’t shown by from the look of things in that dream he was a trusted fellow, someone you didn’t expect betrayal from.” Charity replied, happy she was being taken serious until suddenly Debby began to laugh.
“What is it? What’s so funny?”
“You of course. You’re so funny.” She said and tried to control her laughter but couldn’t help it.
“I’m so sorry for laughing, believe me I didn’t mean to. Okay let me be serious now.” Debby said and cleared her throat in a dramatic way.
“Charity listen, we’ve come a long way and you’ve been the one helping me when I’m desperately in need of one, but I don’t understand you and your so-called dreams about me, I don’t get it. Okay now, this particular dream, who’s the betrayer? You don’t know. What trap is he about to get me into? You don’t know! So please tell me, what am I meant to do with this information now? Detach myself from everyone, lock myself indoors and pray with you because you had some dream about me??? My dear, it doesn’t work that way. It doesn’t please.”
“Deborah when in this life would you begin to take spiritual things serious for Christ’s sake, when??? I’m here telling you something that scared me that probably wouldn’t be affected if the manifestation starts and you that the dream concerns and is all about is laughing.
For God’s sake what is wrong with you? I’m getting pissed off at your attitude these days. It’s becoming annoying and unbearable honestly.” Charity said angrily.
“Now you listen to me Charity. That you’re more spiritual than myself doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to oppress or frighten me with baseless dreams, okay?
Incase you’re not aware, I know what it means to be a praying Christian. I understand what it means to pray and be all full of faith and spiritual okay? So I’m not as ignorant as you may be thinking. I’ve experienced that path and decided on my own that I’m not interested in it so please let me be.
Allow me follow the path I have chosen in peace. I’d be responsible for whatever comes out of it. If I perish so be it, I perish.” Debby said and walked out of her as Charity’s head titled towards her with mouth agape till she was out of sight.
“Jesus Christ! What kind of girl is this?” She wondered.

“I’m sorry I’m late, got stuck in traffic.” Deborah said as she took her seat opposite Fred in a restaurant.
“It’s fine. How are you?” Fred asked thoughtfully
“I’m okay, I’m fine as you can see.”
“I’m glad you are.” Fred said and then the waiter brought the food they had ordered.
“Babe, I called you here for something important.” Fred as he watched her sip her drink.
“What is it?”
“It’s about the money we’re making from this lucrative business of ours.” He said with a serious tone as Debby paid rapt attention.
“I want things to be done differently from now on. I have a plan of purchasing some properties in Italy so when we get there, we wouldn’t have to panic or lack anything.
Now for this plan and other plans I have for us to work out, a huge amount of money needs to be invested.”
“Okay. So your point is??”
“I want the money the men would be giving you transfered to my account.” He said as Debby became dumfounded and stared at him like she wasn’t getting what he was saying.
“That way I wouldn’t need to bother you much like I used to whenever I want to make certain transactions.” He said as Debby gave it a thorough thought.
“It’s for our own good Deborah. Very soon, all these would be over and we’d finally live the life we’ve always dreamt of… together.” He said convincingly when he noticed the look of uncertainty on her face.
“Uhmm…okay. Okay fine.” She said in agreement as Fred smiled broadly.
“Thank you so much. You won’t regret this dear, I promise you.” He said and placed a light kiss on her hand.
“So what would happen now? I mean the money I just made few days ago, am I to transfer everything to you too?”
“Well, maybe. I was actually talking of the next transaction that’d come up and not the one you’ve made already. But thinking about it now, I think you need to transfer it; you can have 500K to yourself. I’d use the money to finalise something and close-up certain deals.” He said as she stared at him bewildered.
“N500,000??? That’s next to nothing!” She said in a lamentable tone.
“If there’s one thing you need to leave dear, it’s management. N500, 000 is a huge amount of money to an average Nigerian out there, coupled with the ones you’ve been saving since money has been flowing in.” Fred said and Debby became quiet. She really hasn’t been saving and has never thought of it. Her extravagant lifestyle never let her think of the future.
“Okay then, no problem. When I get home I’d make the transfer.” She said reluctantly
“Why not make it now?”
“I want to have a nice time with the love of my life first.” She said with a smile as she stretched forth her hands to hold his.
πππππ
Debby got home that day and gave Fred’s idea a thorough thought. Was he trying to act smart on her and have all the money to himself?
No, it wasn’t possible. They’ve been through alot together and shouldn’t have the conscience to display such act of wickedness towards her.
It was never her wish to open her legs to just anyone because of money, but her strange desire to live big made her do so when her boyfriend Fred suggested it to her.
Since her mom wasn’t able to give her the kind of life that she wants, she’d give it to herself.
Her phone ringtone snapped out of her thoughts.
“Hello?”
“Hello sweetheart, I’ve seen the alert. Thank you dear, I promise you won’t regret trusting in me.” Fred said as Debby mumbled a response and ended the call.
“I hope I’m not making a mistake.”

“God I’m tired of this girl called Deborah. The strange and annoying part is there’s something in me that doesn’t want to give up on her. I make mention of her in my prayers on a daily basis even after I decide not to bother myself with her case again.
The way you brought us together is strange. The way I accepted to live with her remains a mystery to me so I’m certain you have a hand in our coming together. Do something over her situation Lord, I can’t bear having a common harlot in the same roof with me for too long.
Please Lord, attend to my cry of intercession over Debby’s life before things get out of hand.”
