Charity got up from bed earlier than usual. From her facial expression, you could tell something unpleasant had woken her up.

“This particular dream again? God, what danger is Debby about to get into?” Charity thought aloud. She just had the same dream she narrated to Debby few days ago.

She touched Debby’s bed space to see if she was still in bed because the room was still dark.

“Debby. Debby.” She called out but remembered she had gone out the night before and hissed.
She knelt beside her bed to pray and cancel the dream, before covering herself with blanket to sleep for few minutes more before finally getting out of bed..

It wasn’t up to 5mins before her alarm began to ring out loud.

“It’s 5:30am already?” She mumbled as she looked at her phone. She snoozed the phone to 15mins which came like a flash of lightning as the phone rang a second time, more loudly this time around.

Charity struggled to get out of bed and put on the solar lamp they had. Locating her toothbrush and toothpaste, she brushed her teeth and headed for the bathroom.

By the time she was done in the restroom and had come out with a towel wrapped around her waist, it was already 6am.

“I have 30 more minutes to go.” She said to herself as she quickly dressed up before dashing out to the kitchen to have something for breakfast.

She was cleaning the kitchen while waiting for the food to be properly warmed before eating when she suddenly felt an urge not to eat that morning. She tried to ignore the feeling at first but it waxed stronger so she just put off the gas and left the kitchen without food. In few minutes she was done and ready to set out for work.

After a word of silent prayer, she locked the house and left.

πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

Throughout her stay at her place of work, Charity’s mind wasn’t at rest as her thoughts kept going back to the dream she ha of Debby. She prayed silently whenever she felt the urge to, but her thoughts still wouldn’t let her be.

She was beginning to think something has already gone wrong with Debby wherever she was.

“God please, bring her home safely. Please don’t let anything happen to her. Lord let your mercy speak for her wherever she is. Please Lord please.” She kept saying in her heart as she concentrated on her work, trying so hard not to panic.

Soon than later it was 4pm and Charity wasted no time in leaving her place of work for home..
She heaved a huge sigh of relief on walking into the apartment and seeing Debby seated in the parlour, peacefully watching a TV programe.

“Thank God you’re safe.” She said as she hugged her. Debby was confused.

“Safe? Was I in any form of danger before?” She queried.

“I don’t know, but I think so. I was having this strange feeling something was about to happen to you throughout today.” Charity said with all seriousness and Debby stared at her like she was crazy before bursting out in loud laughter, embarrassing Charity.

“Are you being serious right now? Danger? Babe I was with my boyfriend all through the night, so are you trying to say my boyfriend could possible put me in danger.” She said and laughed a bit further.

“You know what I think? I feel it’s either your spirikoko is getting too much, or you’re jealous because you don’t have someone that loves you and wants you.” Debby said and Charity was taken aback by her statement

“What do you mean?” She asked.

“Of course you know what I mean. We’ve been together for close to a year now yet no man, not even one person has shown interest in you. I don’t know, aren’t there guys in your place of work or you’re somewhat invisible to the opposite sex?” Debby said and Charity stared at her in shock, wondering where the conversation was going to or what she was trying to bring out of it.

“Look at your biological clock Charity, it has already started ticking; probably that’s why you’re too protective about me and have directed all your love and attention to God, because there’s no man in view for you.” Debby said as Charity was thrown into deep confusion

“What exactly are you talking about Debby? You’re confusing me honestly. How did man talk enter our conversation and who told you my being serious with God has to do with not having a man in my life?”

“Yes because if you have a man in your life like myself, you wouldn’t have soo much time to spend with God to the extent that He’ll reveal things to you not just about yourself, but about another person’s business. That’s a sign of joblessness you know.”

“Ohh ehnehn okayyy, now I understand where you’re driving at. So God looking out for you to avoid you getting into trouble is joblessness abi.”

“Hey don’t twist what I said, I never said that. You’re the jobless one here. If you had alot of things going on in your life, you wouldn’t have the chance to spend too much time with God until He graduates from telling you about you to telling you about someone else’s life.”

“What sort of rubbish are you spilling out of your mind right now?” Charity replied angrily and stormed out of the parlour.

“She don vex. Sorry o, but the truth is bitter. And afterall we all have freedom of speech so I was just saying my mind o.” Debby shouted from the parlour so Charity could hear her.

Charity on the other hand sat quietly on her bed.

“God, what sort of insult was given to me just now? How ingrate of her to have said everything she did. And to think I waste my time, energy and even sacrifice food just to see nothing evil befalls her.

Kai no, this is too much.” Charity thought to herself. It was obvious she was quite upset by Debby’s words as they reminded her of certain things she has been trying so hard to forget.

She knew of two relationships with men she had broken off from because she wanted to stand by her godly principles. It wasn’t an easy thing to do, but she did it anyway and resolved to occupy herself with her work and get deeper with God.

Though it has been over a year she’s had this experience, it wasn’t something she wished to be reminded of like Debby just did because it wasn’t easy for her during that period, and she doesn’t wish to pass through it again.

“Humans can be so ungrateful. Look who God is trying to help save from whatever danger that’s ahead of her, spilling nonsense from her mouth. God you’re merciful o. Mercifully merciful indeed.” Charity said and angrily promised not to bother herself anymore over her matter

πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

“Debby where are you off to?” Charity asked as Debby walked out of the restroom and headed straight to the dressing mirror.

“Where does it look like I’m off to?” Debby threw back at her.

“Debby wherever you’re going to, I think you should change your mind and stay home today.” Charity said thoughtfully as Debby paused what she was doing to look at her in surprise.

“And why would I want to do that?”

“Because I have a strong urge and I feel we should pray about it.” Charity said as Debby looked at her and laughed sarcastically.

“If I should understand what you mean, you’re saying I should stay home all because you feel what and want us to what?” Debby asked bewildered. Charity gave no response.

“Debby I know it sounds crazy and stupid but listen it’s for your own good.
Listen I’ve been trying to mind my business and not mingle with your business but my spirit wouldn’t let me.

Babe please, I feel something’s wrong somewhere…..we just have to pray….. something is wrong somewhere Debby, I can feel it, I can feel it strongly in my spirit….it’s like you have an enemy somewhere, an enemy masquerading as a friend.”

“Okay that’s enough already Charity, Enough!” Debby shouted, shutting her up

“For goodness’sake Charity, what is this? What exactly is the meaning of this? Can’t someone live peacefully with you again? Must you always try to scare me with bad dreams and negative things because you’re jealous of me?” Debby asked as Charity narrowed her eyes in confusion

“Excuse me? Jealous of what exactly?”

“Me I don’t know o, maybe you should tell me instead. Perhaps it’s the money springing up jealousy in you, or the fact that you don’t have a man in your life and I do, despite my lifestyle.”

“Okay that’s just enough Deborah! Enough of you spilling nonsense and you keeping quiet. God! What arrant nonsense are you spilling out of your mouth?”

“It’s not arrant nonsense Charity and you know it. Stop being jealous of me.”

“You know what? I’ve had enough of this crap. God may be very patient to save your soul from damnation, but I’m not that patient. You can do whatever you like, afterall it’s your life, right? Go see whoever you want to see and whatever trap you eventually fall into, it’d be your fault and not mine because I’ve tried my very best.” Charity said on the top of her voice and stormed out of the room angrily.

“What is wrong with that soul they call Deborah. Why is she so….soo frustratingly stubborn?” Charity thought aloud still annoyed as she paced up and down the kitchen.

After about 10mins, Charity left the kitchen for the parlour to watch something on T.V and probably forget about everything, but was taken aback when she saw Debby coming out of the room with her travelling box.

“I thought you said you were just going out? You never mentioned anything about travelling.” Charity said with a tone of concern.

“And how is that your business? Well, incase you want to be nosy around my business one more time, I’m leaving. Yes, I’m living this house for you so you can pray for as long as you like, at anytime you want and leave me out of it!”

“You’re going? To where?” Charity asked. At this point, every form of anger had vanished; she was so full of concern for Debby

“Why do you care? Is that your business too? Ohh….you think it was two years ago when I had no money and had to beg for us to lie together for sometime…you think I’m still poor abi? Well, I’m in a better condition now, and definitely better off without you.” Debby said and dragged her box towards the travelling box. Charity tried begging her to stay but her mind was already made up.

“It’s goodbye forever!” Were her last words before she banged the gate against Charity.

“God, what have I done?” Charity thought regrettably.

πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

“Almost done, almost done.” Fred mumbled to himself as he kept arranging certain documents whose contents were best known to him. He suddenly heard a light knock on his door.

“7:30pm? Is there a guest I’ve forgotten I invited?” He asked himself as the knock became persistent.

“Who’s there? I’m coming.” He replied to whoever it was before getting to the door.

“Debby…it’s you.” He said, not knowing the right emotion to express.

“What could she possibly be doing here at this hour?” He thought.

“I came to stay with you for a while. Is that going to be possible?” She asked, like she read his mind.

“For a while? How long sweetheart? And what about the girl you’re living with?” He asked as Debby bowed her head, giving no response to any of his questions.

“It’s okay, it’s okay, just come in. You’re safe here okay, and you can stay for as long as you like.” Fred said as Debby wore a warm smile on her face.

“Thank you.” Debby said as Fred took her box and ushered her in.

Hmmm….what anger can cause
