It seemed like they had been gossiping and chatting for a long time.
When Ifeoma saw her, she adjusted herself and lifted one of her legs resting it on Uche’s body, who was already lost in the beyond.
“Abominâtion, what manner of atrôcity is this?
My husband who is this woman in our house and why is she comfortably resting her body on you?
For the first time after a while Amaka found her voice.
“How dáre you question me, wait where have you being and why are you just coming back now?

My friend! Will you go inside and get something for my wife to eat? She’s coming from a far distance, as you can see.
Treat her well because she will be finally giving me a female child that will bring me fortunes.
You can go to hêll with that goöd for nòthing child you have with you.
Amaka stood there for a minute with tears struggling to find their ways out of her eyes.
She went inside and prepared breakfast for Uche and his new wife.
She served them and kneeled before Uche until he started eating.
“This food is too salty, why will you give me this when you can’t give it to your mother?
Ifeoma fumed throwing the hot plate of soup on Amaka’s face.
Uche just sat there in silence while Amaka took the plate to the kitchen, cleaning herself up.
“But you wouldn’t have done that to her” Uche pleaded touching Ifeoma on her chin.
“My husband, it seems you are on this woman’s side, is it that you don’t love me anymore, I can go back to my father’s house.
Ifeoma threatèned as she rushed to the house to get her things while Uche pulled her back.
“Don’t ever say that again. you are the only woman in my heart right now and I will do anything you ask me to.
You are free to do anything you wish to her I won’t intervene ever again.
“Nnayi, when I finally give birth to a bouncing baby girl, I will want you to send her out of this house,Ifeoma smiled shyly.
I want to enjoy some time with you”.
Ifeoma saw Amaka as a thréat to her mission of destroying Uche and she wanted to elíminate her at all cost.
Just when Amaka wanted going inside the house, Uche stopped her with a scream .
“Woman, you are bânned from sleeping inside that house, take your usèless son to the kitchen, that is where you will stay from henceforth.
Amaka, started crying as she packed her things from the hut to the kitchen, she slept on the bare floor with her son.
In the night Ifeoma released her baby pÿthon that she had hidden in the house, and even Uche didn’t know where it was.
“Go to Ifeoma’s room and bíte her child to dèath, don’t come back until he is completely gone”.
The snake left and crawled directly to where Amaka and her child were sleeping.
It bite the child who was shivering from cold and he screamed, Amaka woke up “What is it? Before she could say anything else, the boy was dead.
She carried him on her shoulders to the hut and scream her heart out hitting the door with one hand.
Unfortunately, Ifeoma had hÿpnotized Uche that he wasn’t able to hear anything else except her call.
She rushed to the dibia’s hut but unfortunately,”nothing could be done” so he said.
“The child has been bittèn by a very dangerous snake”.
All hope was lost, she grieved for the rest of the night.
Early the next morning Uche, woke up and lo, Amaka had laid her dead child at the frontage of the hut.
He couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw his only son lying lifeless on the floor.
“Don’t worry, Uche,” Ifeoma consoled him, “after all, he isn’t useful to you.
Forget about these people. I promise I will make sure we have a girl child.”
Send that gôod for nôthing woman out of your house, she is of no use to you now that her child is dèad.
“You have a point there” Uche said, wiping his tears.
“Amaka, come here,” he called out her name. After a brief moment of hesitation, he finally made up his mind.
” Pack your things and leâve my house, you are of no usè to me now”, he furiously said.
My husband, it hasn’t gotten to this, she pleaded but all pleas went into dead ears.
With tears in her eyes, she packed her things and started walking down to her village.
