LIFE IMPRISONMENT 33
WRITTEN BY: GRACE OLAYEMI
Mr Emmanuel was delighted beyond description when he heard from Abraham that Danger had made a decision for Jesus. He cried out of excitement and didn’t hesitate to share the news with his wife.
“Thank you, Jesus,” she said with so much joy.
“Yes, it’s incredible. There is no one that is beyond salvation. To even imagine that I never thought of preaching to him all through the time I interrogated him.”
“You don’t have to feel bad about that.”
“Of course I should. I wanted him to be punished for his crimes to humanity and I never thought of the fact that God wanted him to be forgiven. I knew the way to salvation but I kept quiet. I was only concerned about the law and bringing a criminal to book. Whereas I should be concerned about bringing a sinner to Christ.”
“That’s true. But at least we prayed for him.”
“Yes we prayed out of our selfish interest. We wanted him to be caught so I could have less worries and also spend more time with you and the children. I didn’t think of his eternity. I didn’t think that if he died without knowing Jesus that would have been a loss for God and gain to the Devil.”
“Thank God that mercy eventually prevailed. God still worked out his salvation and that is what is important. We can’t undo the past but we can turn a new leaf so we won’t repeat the mistake of the past.”
“That is true.”
“That lawyer was a God-sent.”
“So, what would happen now?”
“He will still be taken to court as earlier scheduled and the judge would decide his fate. But, whatever happened, he will spend eternity in a better place and that is better than suffering on earth and still suffering in eternity.”
“You said he mentioned some highly placed people as his sponsors. Do you think they would not attack him? He might not live to face the court.”
“Wow, I never thought of that,” Mr Emmanuel said and hurriedly stood to his feet and began to get dressed.
“Where are you going by this time?”
“I need to ensure he has maximum security. He is helpless in the cell right now and who knows if the enemy is even in the Force.”
“But, you can do that tomorrow. It’s late now.”
“It’s now or it might be too late tomorrow.”
“I’ll be back soon,” he said and dashed out leaving his wife dazed.

“What is happening here?”
Mr Emmanuel entered and met all the officers at the counter fast asleep. He tried to wake them up but they all seemed to be under some kind of drug influence and didn’t even react to his tappings and beatings. He rushed to where Danger was kept and his heart skipped a bit when he saw the place opened. He entered and saw an officer trying to inject Danger with the syringe he was holding.
“What?” He screamed and the syringe fell from his hands as he shook in fear.
He had taken care of all the officers on duty and had not prepared for any surprises. It was too late for him to think of anything and he immediately injected himself with the syringe. He fell to the ground minutes later and Mr Emmanuel and Danger, who had woken up when the former shouted watched as he bled to death.
Danger was immediately transferred to a private cell with maximum security. Mr Emmanuel did not need anyone to tell him that those higher-ups were responsible for the attempted murder of Danger and they had just added that to their long list of crimes.
