Change of rules Episode 6

*EPISODE 6*
((CHANGE OF RULES))

“It’s strange how she always has something in common with me. Is this a mere coincidence or something I should be worried about?” Bayo asked in his heart while still staring at Oye.

“How did your parents die?” Bayo asked to satisfy his curiosity.

“Hmmm…” Oye sighed deeply before starting with a sad face. “My father used to be a well-known doctor. He worked in the hospital during the day while running his pharmacy at night. And when he works night shifts, my mother and I usually run the pharmacy instead. We have refused to sell the pharmacy store for years because that’s the only memory left of my parents. And I chose to become a nurse so I can continue running the pharmacy store. You know, whenever I’m in that store, I feel like my parents’ presence is there with me. Meanwhile, my mother was a well-known journalist back in the day. She wrote various articles against corrupted politicians. She was someone who greatly despised evil and corruption. She was popularly known as the truth must prevail journalist. I was 7 when I lost both of them in a terrible car accident. I can still vividly remember how it all happened. That day we had gone home to my grandfather’s funeral. When we were done, I refused to follow my parents back to this city. I insisted on staying with grandma in the village for a few more days, and that was the last time I saw them. My parents went back without me. Then the next news we heard was that they both died on their way home,” Oye said, fighting back tears.

“Oh my God. I am so sorry for your loss. I’m really sorry. Bayo said feeling sorry and pity for her.

“It’s okay, I’m learning to get over it each passing day. So what about you? How did your parents die?” Oye asked.

“Well, mine was a horrible experience because I was in the car with them when it happened,” Bayo said.

“Oh my God!. Seriously?” Oye exclaimed in disbelief, covering her mouth with her hand.

“Yeah. We were returning from our weekly Church activity when an oncoming truck confronted our vehicle and in no time swept us off the road. Everything went so fast. The last thing I saw before passing out was my parents lying lifeless in a pool of their blood. And ever since then I have had endless repetitions of this terrible incident in my dreams. It hasn’t been easy for me over the years,” Bayo said.

“I’m sorry for your loss. I didn’t know you had such a horrible experience,” Oye said remorsefully.

“It’s fine. I believe we will overcome this chaos one day. So why don’t you get in the car so I can drive you home?” Bayo said.

“No Bayo. That would be too much. And I don’t want to cause you any inconvenience,” Oye said.

“And who said you will inconvenience me? Come on, it’s just a harmless gesture. Or are you still afraid of being kidnapped by me?” Bayo asked.

“Not at all,” Oye said waving her hand.

“Okay, then hop in. Let’s go to your grandma whom you said misses me a lot.” Bayo said.

“Alright. Let’s go,” Oye said finally yielding to his pleas.

They both got in the car and drove off. When they finally got to Oye’s home, Bayo went ahead to exchange pleasantries with Oye’s grandmother, who was so happy to see him again.

They struck up a conversation and Oye couldn’t help but love how her grandmother felt comfortable around Bayo. It was as if he were a replacement for her late son.

And from that day on, Bayo started getting closer to Oye’s family. Whenever he had a bad day at work, he often does not hesitate to go to Oye’s place. Because a few chats with Oye’s grandmother helped heal his soul.

This went on until Oye finally let her guard down. She finally understood why her grandmother liked Bayo. And as such, she started to feel free around him. And gradually they became friends.

Not a day goes by without Bayo stopping by to say hello to Oye. Be it at home or your workplace. And gradually he started to like Oye. After exchanging contacts, they began making midnight calls and initiating early morning texts, which strengthened their bond. Bayo was beginning to notice this peace he felt when he was with Oye and her grandmother. It was more like he felt at home around them.

Nevertheless, his closeness to Oye didn’t stop him from pursuing his dirty business. He continued his usual lifestyle of cheating rich men’s daughters out of their father’s fortune.

Eventually, he won the heart of the minister’s daughter. By staging an armed robbery attack on her. He made sure to carry out his plans on the day the minister’s daughter came out with few guards. After his men killed her escorts, he came and fought his men off thereby, saving the minister’s daughter. And from that day on, the minister’s daughter fell in love with him.

She kept him with her as her personal protector, and from being her escort, he went further to slip his way into her panties, and that automatically made the minister’s daughter go crazy over Bayo. She couldn’t get enough of him and wanted to have every bit of him.

At the same time, he continued to oversee the delivery of illegal drugs to their respective customers. But the difference was that he was so excited about going about his daily activities because of his newfound friendship with Oye.

One weekend, Oye’s grandmother finished preparing a local meal and insisted that Oye must bring some to her newfound son, Bayo.

As if waiting for such an opportunity, Oye quickly went inside and put on her best outfit. She took her time applying her makeup and when she was happy with what she saw in the mirror, she got out and went to Bayo’s house. Bayo had once given her his home address in case an emergency required his presence.

At Bayo’s house.

Bayo was in his living room watching a soccer game when his doorbell rang. Since Bayo had no friends due to his work, he thought it was Abeni since she was the only one who constantly visited him.

But when he opened his door, he was at a loss for words when he saw Oye standing in front of him.

“Hey.” Oye waved at him with a beaming smile.

“Hey…” Bayo waved back in total awe.

He was so overwhelmed by her sudden change in appearance that he stood and stared at her from head to toe without saying a word. Oye, beginning to feel awkward and uncomfortable, had to break the silence.

“May I come in?.” Oye asked, feeling uncomfortable at Bayo’s steady gaze.

“Yeah… sure…” Bayo said as he snapped back to reality.

He made way for her as she walked in looking like the girl of his dreams.

“Welcome. Please make yourself comfortable,” Bayo said showing her a seat. Once Oye was seated on the couch, Bayo quickly sat down on the couch next to her.
“Seriously, I’m surprised by your sudden visit. I didn’t expect you to visit me so soon.” Bayo said as he didn’t know what to say or do in such an awkward and unplanned situation.

“I never intended to visit you so soon either. It was grandma who kept insisting that I brought this food to you.” Oye said handing Bayo the leather bag she was carrying.

Bayo collected the leather bag. He opened it and found a food flask inside. Then, without hesitation, he opened the flask and took in the pleasant and satisfying aroma emanating from the food.

“It really does smell like mom’s food. You know, this suddenly reminds me of my mom’s special treats. She was such a good cook.” Bayo said, covering the flask back.

He stood up and took the food inside. When he returned, he couldn’t help but praise Oye.

“I have to admit, you look different today,” Bayo said, staring at Oye, who suddenly felt uncomfortable.

“Do I look weird?” Oye asked.

“Not at all. You look great. It took me a while to recognize you. Because of the massive change. But honestly speaking, I never knew you were this beautiful.” Bayo said looking at her lustfully.

“Bayo, please stop flattering me,” Oye said shyly.

“That’s not flattery, my dear. That’s just the plain truth. You look extremely beautiful today. I didn’t know you were my spec until today.” Bayo teased and they both burst out laughing.

“Excuse my manners. Please, what do I offer you?” Bayo asked standing to his feet.

“Any cold soft drink will do,” Oye said, smiling.

“All right. I’ll be right back,” Bayo said.

He quickly went to his fridge and pulled out a chilled bottle of soft drink for Oye. He returned and put it on the table with a glass cup beside it.

“Here it is. Please drink to your heart’s content. And if you need more, then don’t hesitate to tell me cause there is more in the fridge.” Bayo said relaxing on his Couch.

“Thanks, Bayo,” Oye said, reaching for the soft drink.

Bayo quickly changed the football channel to a movie channel just to make Oye comfortable.

But unfortunately, the movie he transitioned to, contained a ton of adult content. And this made both of them uncomfortable. Oye kept scratching her neck and looking away like a shy cat. While Bayo kept clearing his throat.

“Why do they have to show stuff like this today? They just want to paint me black.” Bayo thought to himself.

“Why did he choose this channel? Is he trying to pass a message to me or what?” Oye wondered to herself.

Bayo had to quickly change the channel, but then the image of what they had already seen played over and over in their filthy minds.

Oye, who was suddenly feeling hot, wanted to pour the remaining chilled drink into the glass cup. When she realized it was finished.

Bayo, noticing it, quickly demanded that she hand him the empty bottle so he could replace her drink.

But while she gave him the bottle, both of their hands touched. And they both stared deep and firmly into each other’s eyes. Bayo slowly leaned in for a kiss while Oye closed her eyes in anticipation.

At that moment, Abeni entered without knocking or ringing the four bell. Her sudden arrival brought them back to reality. And immediately, Oye got up to say she was leaving.

And without hesitation, she quickly left the living room.

“Who is she?. And why were you trying to kiss her earlier? It’s unlike you to bring a girl to your house.” Abeni asked curiously.

“Well, she’s Oye. My newfound friend.” Bayo reluctantly replied.

“Isn’t she the girl you told me about? The one who lives with her grandmother?” Abeni asked sitting on the couch.

“Yes, she is. Isn’t she beautiful?” Bayo asked with an exuberant smile.

“Yes, she is. But why do you look so excited? Do you have feelings for her?” Abeni asked crossing her arms.

“Do you want to hear the truth?” Bayo asked and sat down next to her.

“Yes. Nothing but the truth,” Abeni said.

“I think I’m starting to develop true feelings for her,” Bayo said, smiling helplessly.

“What?. You’re joking, right?” Abeni asked sitting upright.

“No, Abeni. Oye has something special and unique that touches my heart. I want to have a meaningful relationship with her soon.” Bayo said.

“Does she know what you do for a living?” Abeni asked.

“Not yet. And I don’t plan on telling her any time soon. It’s my way of protecting her. Because you know the rule is that every third person who finds out about our secret must be killed” Bayo said.

“I’m glad you still know about the rules. But it seems you forgot that falling in love is also against the rules,” Abeni said.

“Well then, I’m willing to change the rules for Oye’s sake. The rules were made by a man. And the change will also be made by a man.” Bayo said, smiling helplessly.

“I’m sorry Bayo. I won’t allow that to happen. I won’t sit back and watch you get yourself killed because of one stupid love. I will do everything in my power to make sure you come to your senses. ” Abeni said in her heart.
