Her Ghost Episode 11

HER GHOST (Final)

I didn’t get to see Jenny for months.
I should have been happy right? But no I wasn’t. I was fighting an inner battle. A battle between I and my conscience. How could I be okay knowing fully well that I had unknowingly ended someone’s life with my jokes?

Truly it was only a mere joke, but that joke sent Jenny to her early grave. And I couldn’t come in terms with the fact that I was a murderer.

Slowly I began losing my mind. With each passing day I was drowning in the ocean of guilt and self pity. My family tried all they could to bring me back to my formal self, but their efforts proved abortive.

I wished for death more than I had ever wished for life; for only death could be able to wash away the guilt that engulfed my soul. Then that awful night when I had finally decided to end it all, she showed up again.

“What do you think you are doing?”
She had thundered, making me to drop the knife which I intended to use I ending my life out of fright.

“You want to kill yourself? If I wanted you dead I would have done that a long time ago. But that wouldn’t make me any different from you”
She said with a tune as calm as the deep oceans.

“I am sorry.”
I said and broke into a loud wail.

“It wasn’t totally your fault. I gave you guys the permission. I failed to realize just how beautiful God had made me, rather I ended up believing you guys. But now I know better; I was never ugly, I was only different.”

“I have forgiven you a long time ago. You have learnt your lesson; I wish others will learn from this too. At times you don’t need a gun or dagger to kill someone, your word is enough. I wish the world would realize this.”

I felt a cold wind sweep through the room . My eyes grew dim and my eyelids slowly kissed as I journeyed into dreamland.
I woke up with a aching head. Placing a hand on my head which was threatening to fall, I sat upright.

I gazed round the whole room and my jaws dropped in shock. I was seated in a classroom with pupils all round; not as a teacher, but as a pupil too.
Does it mean everything was just a dream?
Obviously I had seen six years into the future.

I was still battling with shock when a hand tapped me.

“Hey Abby, look behind you. There is a new girl in class”
Came a shrill voice. Turning around, my eyes almost bulged out in disbelief.

“Deborah Anderson ”
I screamed.

“Have you met her before?”
The pupil asked in shock.

“No, but I have seen this day.”
I muttered slowly.

THE END
