EPISODE SEVEN
MY NEIGHBOR ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐Written by Nicholas Stephen
“Shedrack are you not the one I’m talking to!!”Esther shouted eagerly as she continued to tap me.
“Shedrack what is it.. Raise your face up let me see. Is it the eye?”
I remained silent.
I abruptly removed my face from the water, covered the eye with both hands and rushed to dad’s room.
“Shedrack!!!”
“Shedrack!!!”
She called while following me but I quickly slammed the door from the inside.
When she had left I opened it and began to observe the eye in the mirror
When I least expected, dad rushed back to the room looking like someone that had forgot something.
“Shedrack are you okay?”
“Yes dad.” I answered covering the eye.
“What is it you’re covering.. Remove your hand let me see…”
Just while I was about leaving he held me and removed my hand.
“Shedrack what happened to your eye! from the way your mum explained it to me I wasn’t expecting it to be this bad. I was thinking it was just a scratch.. Shedrack!!!”
“What happened!!”
“Blood of Jesus Christ!!”
“Dad.. Emmm.. I.. I.. ”
“So you had the guts to keep quiet when your eye is getting blรฎnd isn’t it!!”
Dad quickly brought out his phone and informed mum.
Mum told him that she was occupied with work that the only solution was rushing me to see pรฃstor for prayers.
Dad quickly ended the call. We hopped on a taxi and went to meet pastor in his house.
The pains subsided but the eye was swollen to the point it was about to pop out.
Pastor said that someone was tormenting me spiritually.
Guilt was already written all over me and each time I got questioned, I would be stuttering and thinking of what to say.
Dad was annoyed with me. Just when he was about spanking me on my head to speak up, pastor confronted him and told him to relax.
“Do you want your eye to get bind?” Pastor questioned me.
“No pastor..” I answered in tears.
“Talk to me I’m your pastor. Who did this thing to you?”
Due to shame, I buried my head under the ground and shook my left hand on my left pocket. I brought out the leaf and dropped it on his table while shedding tears.
“Why crying.” Pastor asked eagerly while observing the leaf.
“Who gave it to you? Where did you get it!” Dad questioned anxiously.
“Somebody gave it to me…”
“Who!” Pastor questioned.
“Who gave it to you my son I’m talking to you!” Dad shรตuted in rage.
“One… One…. One woman like that!”
“Mashatabalabahalahsabakasha..” pastor spoke in tongues.
“I could sense danger.. This boy is gradually dying spiritually. I need to go to that your house.. Something is wrรตng somewhere!” Pastor told dad.
I snatched back the leaf and hid it on my pocket.
On our way home, pastor’s car collided with a Jeep at a bend. The car’s brakes failed and it spun out of control, causing an accident. Our car slid off the road and plunged onto the soft ground leaving the three of us with various degrees of injuries.
The car that hit us abruptly drove and sped off. My face was filled with scars and legs got fractured because I was sitting close to pastor at the front. Dad sat at the back.
Dad only had some scratches. Pastor was severely injured to the point he couldn’t move his left hand. His face was filled with injuries saturating his long sleeve with blood. Dad took pastor and I to the hospital.
Issue of prayers became blur because the main thing on ground was survival.
Many folks came to check up on us. Including some of our neighbours, family members, and church members.
Mum and Esther later went home after staying with us till 7pm before I dozed off
That night when I slept, I saw myself in the strange place. My left eye was completely blind, and I could only see with my right. Meanwhile, the woman was nowhere to be found, the place was deserted, and I could hear my voice echoing from the far end.
Not long, a weird smoke came. The woman abruptly dropped from above and descended on the ground creating a weird noise with her staff while soliloquising and laughing at me.
Fear rapidly took hold of me.
