They have paid a caterer who would cook sumptuous meals including jollof rice, fufu and fresh fish pepper soup. Linda and Kele want people to eat whatever they want at the wedding. The wedding is going to be a grand event because Kele and Linda are both rich. Linda worked at an oil company while Kele is a prominent lawyer. Everything was set for the wedding and Linda and Kele can’t wait to start their forever journey.

“I’m so happy we are finally getting married. I can’t wait to live in your house forever. I just can’t wait to be your wife. You are such a good man. You are the type of man I have always wanted to get married to. I’m so convinced in my heart that you are the right person for me. I so much believe that God sent you from heaven to come down to earth and be my husband. My happiness is complete with you as my man.” Linda tells Kele as the wedding date was fast approaching. They were in Kele’s house having a good time.

“I’m the lucky one here. Imagine getting married to a successful woman like you. Am I not lucky? I’m so much lucky to have you as my wife. You know I was afraid that you will not accept my proposal. You are such a beautiful woman and you are the dream of every man. When people see you on the road, they must stop to look at you twice. I’m so proud that I’m the one who finally won your heart. Making you happy has become a divine duty for me. I now exist to be your lovely husband until the day I will breathe my last on this earth. I promise you love, joy and happiness.” Kele said to Linda while giving her a beautiful rose flower he had bought on his way home from work.

“I’m so flattered! Anytime you give me flowers, I feel so happy. You are such a good man. Thank you so much for this gift. It means so much to me.” Linda said.

“I hope you are ready for the wedding? Have you invited every friend and family member on your list? Check very well that there is no one left, because people will be angry if they don’t get an invitation to the wedding. Check your list again.” Kele tells Linda who started thinking to know if there was anyone she has not given an invitation card.

“I think I have invited everyone that needs to be invited. You know, some people will still come to the wedding to eat rice even if they are not invited. It’s an open event and people will not be pursued for coming uninvited. But I think there is one more person I left out.” Linda tells her fiancé.
“And who might that person be? You should better go and give the person an invite. You don’t want to start answering questions from anyone you failed to invite. You know how people behave. They will start saying you got married without telling them even though they know about the wedding. Please, go and invite the person, there is still time to go this evening.” Kele tells Linda.

“The person is a distant family member but he was really good to me when I was in school. Let me go to his house. When I go there, I won’t be able to come back here. I will go home from his house.” Linda tells Kele. She picked up her car keys and left Kele’s house after hugging him passionately.

She was telling lies. She wanted visit her ex-boyfriend, Chima. Chima lives at the University of Lagos campus where he was doing his masters degree. He was a very brilliant student during his first degree such that he was given scholarship to study for his masters. Chima and Linda dated in school for four years but they broke up after they graduated. They had met in their first year and they had a very good time together while in school. Linda was not all that intelligent, but Chima used to teach her since they were in the same department. They fell in love and remained dating until their final examination. Linda wanted Chima to marry her but Chima said he was not ready for marriage since he wanted to pursue a masters degree. He told Linda to move on if she found a man. One year later, Linda found Kele and they fell in love, though, Linda still had some hidden doubts about Kele, she just accepted him because she wanted to get married, but Chima was still in her heart.

“I cannot just get him off my heart. I have been thinking about him since this plan to marry Kele started. I have to at least give him an invitation to my wedding or let him know that I’m getting married. He did a lot for me when we were in school. If not for him, I would not have graduated with good grades. I have to go and thank him and let him know I remember every good thing he did for me.” Linda said as she approached the UNILAG hostel where Chima lived. She climbed the stairs and it brought back a lot of memories. She remembers how she used to spend weeks at Chima’s place when they were still dating.

“I feel so good being here this evening. I remember everything that happened between me and Chima in this apartment just as if they happened yesterday.” Linda said as she knocked at Chima’s door. Within two seconds, Chima emerged from the one-room hostel.

“Linda!” Chima shouted as he rushed and hugged Linda and dragged her into the room. He was so happy to see her. He was heartbroken when he broke up with Linda, but he decided it was the best thing to let her go even though it was difficult.

“I’m so happy to see you.” Linda said. She was crying.

“This feels like my best day in this year. I have been dreaming about you lately.” Chima said. He too started crying.

“I have come to invite you to my wedding. Since you refused to marry me, I have seen another man.” Linda said tearfully.

“Really? I didn’t refuse to marry you. I’m trying to protect you from poverty. Being married and poor is bad. Well, I’m happy for you.” Chima said as he accepts the invitation card.

“I should be going now.” Linda said. She was getting scared because of how she was feeling about Chima. Her mind was thinking passionately about him and she wanted to leave the room before something happened between them. Chima was feeling the same way. They had missed each other so much.

“Alright! I will come to the wedding, I promise.” Chima said with tears in his eyes. Linda stood up to leave. She was walking very fast, trying so hard to resist the feelings in her heart. Chima followed her to the door. But when they got to the door, they started looking at each other so deeply, remembering their past memories. It got to the point where Linda could not resist the urge. She grabbed Chima and started ki.ssing him. They went to bed to play football. The football was like fight, because they all wanted it so much.

“This felt so nice. Like, my heart yearned for you. Why did you not marry me?” Linda asked Chima.

“I don’t have the money to.” Chima said.

“You are the one I love. Just agree to marry me and I will sponsor everything. I will also leave Kele.” Linda said.
