The Sacred Lust (episode 6
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Never push a person more than they can take because once that person fall off the cliff, they would bounce back and pounce on you with every single strength they’ve got left and believe me when I say the outcome won’t be funny. Imagine the audacity Jerry had to cheat on his wife and still punish her by refusing to step foot in their matrimony home just because his hurting wife confronted his mistress.
The guts Jerry had to stay unapologetic for his behavior regardless of how wrong he was would make anyone sick to their stomach. Such effrontery and audacity he had to treat his wife ‘Isabel’ like a bastard and piece of trash without a say in their marriage. However, we thank God for friends like Sally that stood up for Isabel when she couldn’t fight for herself. Finally, the confrontation Isabel had been secretly dying for was now here and fortunately, Sally was by her side to magnify her faint voice.
As the atmosphere got heated at the restaurant, all eyeballs looked towards the scene Sally had created by screaming “Husband Snatcher” when she tried shutting Nicole up from speaking. Despite the chaos that was stirring up, Jerry remained calm and didn’t utter a word to either his wife nor her hot headed friend ‘Sally’. The silence from Jerry succeeded in getting Isabel more pissed than she initially was when she approached their table. On the other hand, Nicole emulated Jerry and remained silent too. Their weird silence was now what triggered Isabel’s emotions and sadly got her crying.
“So you are going to sit here and say nothing huh? After all we have been through and all the love I thought we shared, this is how you are going to treat me Jerry? I thought you were my soulmate and was God sent to me but now it’s clear you were sent by the devil to destroy my life. How could you sit here with your mistress and not even feel remorseful for cheating on me and breaking every vow you made to me on the altar. Why are you so judgmental, selfish and a coward to judge me for something I clearly explained to you wasn’t my fault. How can you turn your back on our love just at the slightest crisis we have encountered? For all these while, I have been eating myself up and blaming myself for everything that is currently happening to our marriage but right now, it’s clear that I was never the problem, you are. I would have never treated you like this no matter how bad your past was. I would have never done this to our marriage no matter what. You are such a coward and not deserving of my love so I advice you visit your lawyers and get those divorce papers ready because if you don’t, I will. This is the last time I’ll ever shed any tears for you because you clearly don’t deserve even a drop of tear from me. I wish you everything you wish for yourself. Have a nice life and just so you know, I have already moved from our home so you can move back in with your mistress. Goodbye!” Isabel sadly said and walked away leaving everyone behind. Sally wanted to attack Jerry and Nicole further but saw no reason to go ahead with the agenda after hearing everything Isabel had said. Without hesitating, she walked away too and followed Isabel out of the restaurant. They got into the car and drove off immediately
With Sally and Isabel gone, Jerry got up too and headed for his car that was parked outside. Nicole followed him and they left the restaurant in shame due to all the eyeballs and attention that were on them. Immediately they got into the car and drove off, Nicole broke the silence. “What was all that? What kind of embarrassment and humiliation is this? What if someone that knows me personally is in that restaurant? Do you know how embarrassing it would be for people to begin to call me a husband snatcher?. This has been my greatest fear all these while and you know it too. I told you I can’t do this anymore because I wouldn’t want to hurt my fellow woman but you promised that you had already filed for divorce, only for me to hear now from your ex that you haven’t even began the process of filing for a one. Just take me home because I can’t even look you in the face right now” she angrily said and faced the window direction.
Despite all that happened that day, the fact still remained that Jerry and Nicole were still in love with each other but the difference now was that Isabel wasn’t in the picture anymore. She was done and done for good and this time around, there was no turning back. The embarrassment the poor woman had received from her husband and mistress was enough to last her a lifetime. One thing she wasn’t going to condone again was being disrespected by anyone be it her husband or his mistress. Thankfully she had already packed her things to Sally’s house so there was no going back to her matrimonial home again.
After that day, the news of Jerry and Isabel’s separation gradually began to spread. Their parents got to know about what was going on in their marriage and where highly disappointed by Jerry’s actions. The fact that he still felt unapologetic made things even more disappointing for everyone. He strongly defended his actions by telling anyone that cared to listen that his wife was the cause of their childlessness and broken home. The way he judged and condemned Isabel would have you thinking that he was a saint who had never done anything wrong or made a mistake all through his lifetime. His actions were highly repelling and uncalled for but that didn’t stop him either ways.
Those moments of backlash, unending phone calls and family meetings were probably one of the worst periods of Isabel’s life. Each advice or accusing finger directed towards her reminded her of her misery all over again. She was highly sober and cried every second no one was watching. The only people that had her back was her mother and Sally as every other person was against her. They blamed her for being the reason for their childlessness as a couple due to the abortion Jerry told everyone she did in the past.
In everything that was happening, one of the things that deeply hurt Isabel the most was the fact that Jerry uncovered her nakedness to the whole world when he was supposed to cover and protect her against all odds. It killed her within whenever she thought of other mature and good men she could have ended up with but chose Jerry because she was blindly in love with him. Sadly, she couldn’t take back the hands of time to undo her mistakes and wrongs so all she could do was pick up the pieces of her heart and move on.
It’s been about five months since Isabel and Jerry’s separated as a couple. In that time frame, she managed to rent a two room self-contain and moved out from Sally’s house. It was hard for her to wake up each day but she had no choice than to be strong and show up. For all these while, Isabel was aware that Jerry and Nicole were still very much together and were even planning on taking their relationship to the next level after their divorce is finalized. Their relationship had waxed strong since after Isabel officially moved out from her matrimonial home. No news crushed her heart and spirit like the one that came knocking one fateful day.
On that day, Isabel returned a bit earlier from her store and decided to rest on the small coach in her tiny livingroom when a knock at the door woke her up from her slumber. “Isa Isa!! Open the door ooh, you won’t believe this!” A voice that clearly sounded like Sally’s voice screamed from outside the door. Tired and stressed, Isabel stood up and went to open the door. “What’s it? This one you are knocking as if you are running from a ghost” Isable jokingly said but Sally wasn’t in the mood for jokes. “You won’t believe what my two eyes just saw now on my way back from the hospital to pick up my mum’s medication” Sally said in haste.
Curious to know what Sally saw that was making her go out of breath, Isabel began to make inquiries. “What or whom did you see?” Isabel asked but her heart wasn’t prepared for the reply she was about to receive. “I saw Jerry and Nicole at the hospital in the anti-nertal ward and guess what? She is heavily Pregnant!”.
Oh My! Words would fail me to properly describe the state of Isabel’s heart at that moment. No word will be suitable enough to describe how devastated, dumbfounded, shocked and shattered she was on hearing that her husband’s mistress whom he has been having an affair with not too long ago was already pregnant for him, while she that was married to him for three years never took in even once.
Isabel died a thousands deaths within at that moment as her mouth remained wide opened in disbelief. All she could do was sadly exclaim “wow, wow, wow!”.
