The Sacred Lust (episode 2 & 3)
Most people’s greatest fear in marriage is the fear of Unforeseen Change, which is the fear of their spouse becoming someone entirely different from whom they fell in love with. That moment where you just look at your spouse and wonder how things got so bad to the extent that you don’t even know him/her anymore. That moment you get drenched in regrets and wished you could change the hands of time and alter the day you met your spouse. However, what most people fail to understand is that marriage isn’t a bed of roses as it consists of both good and bad times. Sadly, they only picture the good sides of marriage before saying “I Do” without picturing the bad and ugly sides too, hence the reason they are always in a hurry to walk away when things take a different direction than what they imagined. Few people turn to cheating as their means of escape from their dead marriage while others walk away. Now before you cheat or walk away from your spouse due to the shortcomings life threw at your marriage, first ask yourself this simple question; “can I disown or walk away from my siblings just because I’m fed up or tried of them?. If your answer is ‘No’, then why be in a hurry to leave your spouse without even trying as hard as you can to save your marriage so far as your mental health or life isn’t at stake. It’s quite sad as to how fast a person can unlove someone that once meant the whole world to them. Too bad!
While Jerry stared at his phone screen as the phone rang, his once happy countenance changed to that of a sad man. The fact that the caller’s number was saved with the name ‘Wifey’ proved that he was married as Nicole had suspected earlier. The real question was why he lied about his martial status to Nicole when in fact he had been married for over three years to a lady named Isabel. After over two missed calls, he finally decided to pick up the call.
“Hey” Jerry coldly greeted when he picked the call. It’s was obvious that he wasn’t excited to receive his wife’s call hence the cold attitude. “Are you still angry for what happened this morning? If yes, then I’m sorry. I believe this marriage can work only if we try harder to save it from crashing. Please come home so we can talk things over” his wife said.
It’s apparent that Jerry and his wife ‘Isabel’ were having issues in their marriage. They got into a heated argument about their childlessness that morning so that explains why Jerry looked troubled and sad when he walked into the restaurant. The main reason for their argument is the fact that Jerry blames her for being the reason for their childlessness because she had an abortion several years back for her ex before she met him. That abortion tempered with her womb which have made them able to have a chid after 3 years of marriage. This particular issue has been the genesis of all the problems they have been having so far in their marriage.
The most painful part of the whole thing is that Isabel kept the abortion a secret from her husband ‘Jerry’. It was after series of tests, scans and doctor’s appointments that the shocking truth came to the open. It was during one of their numerous doctor’s appointments that their doctor revealed the abortion details which left Jerry devastated. He couldn’t believe that his wife could hide such an important detail from him all through their courtship and marriage. Despite pretending like he knew about the abortion just to save face in front of the doctor, he was dying in the inside. It was when they got home that day that Isabel decided to open up completely about the abortion she had before she met him but it was already too late; the mental damage was already done and that day was the beginning of their problems as a married couple.
The constant nagging and blame games had succeeded in drifting the couple away from each other. They barely spoke to one another while at home and this made them feel more like flat mates than lovers. The couple’s once blissful marriage has turned into a war zone. Jerry usually spent most days at the hotel just to avoid seeing his wife. The more he thought about the secrets and lies she had up her sleeves, the more angry he became. There were just too many water under the bridge and at this point, it’s safe to say that only God can save their marriage.
After speaking briefly to Isabel on the phone, Jerry ended the call and drove straight to a hotel to spend the night. While he laid happily on his bed and fantasized about Nicole, his wife was home drenched in tears. She cried bitterly for every hour that went by without Jerry walking through the door. She sadly blamed herself for everything that was going on in her marriage and this self blame worsened her grief. How would she had known that a mistake she made in the past would come back to hurt her?. The fact that the abortion she had was instigated by her ex when she got pregnant for him, made her more sad. She never wanted to abort her unborn baby but after receiving so many threats from her ex, she went ahead and did away with the baby. Shortly after the abortion, she ended the relationship with her ex because she couldn’t stand seeing his face anymore. If only she told her husband about the abortion by herself and not let him hear it for the first time from their doctor, I believe Jerry’s reaction won’t be this intense. Too bad!
On seeing that Jerry wasn’t coming back home that night, Isabel forced herself to sleep in tears. In all the fears she had about her marriage, the most of it was the tendency of her husband cheating on her or worst still, falling for someone else. She knew that would break her beyond anything else. The only thing Isabel could do was pray to God and ask him to bring her husband back to her. It was such a sad and terrible time in their life as a couple. She managed to catch some sleep for the night as the next day was church service.
Early the following day, Isabel tried calling Jerry to check in on him since he didn’t sleep at home the night before. She dialed his line severally but no one picked up. Devastated and sad, she stopped trying and began to prepare for church service.
While Isabel was worried sick about her husband’s whereabouts, Jerry was busy talking to Nicole that morning. He called to check in on her and they ended up talking for hours. They spoke about so many things and later figured they had so much in common. “Oh Not Back Street Boys too, I love their music so much. I can’t believe they are your favorite old school singers too” Nicole voiced out in excitement when Jerry revealed to her that Back Street Boys were his favorite singers. They spoke and spoke on phone till the call sadly came to an end. “I would love to see you again, today if possible. I really like your company alot” Jerry said. Nicole blushed and gently replied “I would love to see you too”.
On seeing that they both craved for each other’s company, Jerry asked Nicole out for a proper dinner date and she happily accepted his offer. They were scheduled to meet at the restaurant of the hotel he lodged in. At passed 5pm, she showed up and they had dinner together.
“Have I told you that you look very beautiful tonight” Jerry calmly said while looking Nicole deep into her eyes. She blushed uncontrollably before saying “Thank you”. The spoke about random things till the conversation began to get heated and intimate. “Are you single? I would like to know because I’m really attracted to you” Jerry voiced out.
At that time, the atmosphere began to get tensed. There was no doubts that Nicole was also attracted to Jerry. She liked every single thing about him and that was the first time a man was more than enough for her. She looked into his beautiful eyes and gently replied “Yes, I’m single”.
Immediately Nicole revealed her relationship status to Jerry, his face Lit up with joy. He smiled faintly and reached for her hands. “I like you a lot and would really love to pursue whatever feeling or emotion I have for you. You are really beautiful and have majestically walked into my heart” Jerry said while caressing her hands.
At that moment, there was nothing Nicole wanted more than anything in the world than to kiss Jerry but she held herself back just so she doesn’t come off as ‘too loose’. They managed to go through with the dinner date without either of them doing anything crazy. After a good time well spent, Jerry walked Nicole to her car to make sure she was safe. When they got to where her car was parked, the atmosphere began to get tensed all over again. Jerry could see through Nicole to know that she wanted him so bad. Unable to hold back any longer, he leaned forward and planted a soft kiss on her lips. “Goodnight” he said and was about leaving when she held him back and planted another kiss on his lips. The kissed passionately before finally parting their lips from one another. Shortly afterwards, Nicole drove off and Jerry went back to his hotel room.
Deep down in Jerry’s heart, he knew what he was doing was totally wrong but his fleshy desires overshadowed every logical reasoning. The thought of cheating on his wife was something he wasn’t ready to accept or think about. He tried to justify his actions with the excuse that Isabel wasn’t any better than he was, because after all, she wasn’t a saint. He felt she was the one who pushed him away with her dirty secrets so he wasn’t about to feel bad for her in any way.
The next day, Jerry went to work from his hotel room and unknown to him, Isabel was waiting at his office. When he arrived and saw his wife seated at the reception with a food flask obviously containing food, his heart sank in. In order not to create a scene in front of the receptionist and co-workers, he told her to come into his office. Immediately he shut the office door behind them, he angrily looked at Isabel with no better words to describe how annoyed he was feeling within.
“What are you doing here without first informing me that you were coming?” Jerry angrily asked, “I thought it would be nice to bring you breakfast since you didn’t come home last night” Isabel sadly said. Unmoved and unimpressed, he walked to his office chair and sat down without saying another word to her. After few minutes of standing with no words from Jerry, Isabel took a seat and passed the foodflask towards him. “My darling, here’s your food, please eat” she calmly said but Jerry wasn’t having it. “I’m not hungry so take the food back home. Matter of fact, I have a meeting to attend right away so I’ll be leaving to the conference room. When you are tired of staying, then you know the way out” he bluntly said and was about walking away but was stopped by his wife.
“I don’t know why you are doing this. I don’t know why you have chosen to hurt me with every single opportunity you get. I don’t know why you have chosen to break our marriage and home but whatever it is, I beg you to stop. This isn’t the man I fell in love with and married. You have changed completely to someone I don’t know. What have I done to deserve such cold treatments from you? I have never lied to you since I met you, not even once. I thought you are the same person who told me that whatever we did before we met should remain in the past and not come with us to the future. How would I have known that an abortion I was forced to do against my will several years ago would come to haunt me years after. Why can’t you see that I’m hurting as well? You have allowed anger to get the best of you to the extent that I can’t tell who you are anymore” Isabel sadly said with tears in her eyes. When she was done talking, Jerry looked into her eyes and nodded his head. Just when he wanted to say what was on his mind, she interrupted him with a blunt question. “Are you cheating on me?” She asked as tears fell from her eyes.
There was an instant silence in the atmosphere. Jerry stood there looking speechless even though he knew the answer to her question. “Jerry, are you seeing someone else” she asked again with tears in her eyes.
Just when Jerry was about to deny and say “No” to her question, his phone rang. Lo & Behold, the caller was no other person than ‘Nicole’.
