The next day by 12:20 pm I was already there. When I got inside I saw him sitting at the far end of the eatery. I went and took my seat facing him. He was looking so dashing. I saw the way both men and women were stealing glances at him. Well I don’t blame anyone. He was really a cute guy, ebony black, white teeth with an opening and cute dimples.
“You’re late” he said. What if I left”
” Knowing how you guys operate, I knew you weren’t going any where, I said.
He smiled and asked me what I wanted to take. I opted for a soft drink cos I was not really hungry. The only hunger I had was to hear what he had to say. As I was served my soft drink I asked him.
” Why are you here and what do u want from Amarachi”.
” She’s the sister to the guy that took my life 15yrs ago.
I leaned back on my seat why I starred at him. ” I’m listening”.
” 15yrs ago I was working in an oil company. I was 25 by then. I studied petrochemical engineer at unilag. I was lucky to be posted there for my nysc. So after my service I was among the lucky five that was retained due to our commitment to the company. A year later I was selected with 2 others to travel to United States. Emeka, that’s Amarachi’s brother was not selected. He was my best pal. He pretended to be happy for me when he wasn’t. A week into the travel died in motor accident on my way to see my parents. Emeka was responsible for my death. Out of the 18 passengers on board I was the only one who died in the scene of the accident. Emeka was replaced since I was no more. My family where heart broken. Emeka took my life and now he’s living the life I was supposed to live. His family are doing well while my family are managing to get by. My dad told me to get my revenge of whoever is responsible for my untimely death. I would have ended his life but he chained my spirit from getting to him. For 15 yrs I have waited patiently, roaming the world not until six months ago a Demon decided to help me.

” You mean a Demon is helping you out”
” Yes. He’s a car dealer. He’s been here for thousands of years. He is in a human form so you won’t know. He’s very rich .
” What are you offering him in return?
” The soul of Emeka”. After that I will continue to leave the life I was supposed to get but not here, in another country. Sorry you don’t have the gift of seeing a Demon. They’re everywhere. The good, the bad and the ugly. They can only take a human form to achieve their earthly aim.
” Hmmm. So how do you plan on doing it?
” I can’t tell you that. My Demon friend told me to keep it away from you cos you’re too kind hearted. Your kind heart is the reason you always get hurt. Humans are not worthy of kindness. They’re are wicked and heartless. You’re fighting for Amarachi who says bad things about you”
“It’s the devil that makes human do evil things. I’m not interested in whatever she says. She’s a friend and neighbor so I won’t see any harm come to her”.
” The devil only operates when you let him in. Once your heart is pure he can only stay afar but if you mistakenly let him in then he stays. That is why you need to do all you can to keep him away from you”.
” Thanks for the advice. I have this feeling that whatever you’re planning will affect her. I hope you have not slept with her? Please leave her the way you met him”.
” I have not had s*x with her but I’m doing that before I let her go. I will make her remember me for the rest of her life. If you must know I have no conscience. I’m here for revenge and I must get it”.
I was speechless after his last comment. After hearing everything. I looked forward to his revenge. Emeka really deserves to die. Truly humans are wicked and heartless but I believe we still have good people out there. After the meeting I went home. He came later in the evening and picked up Amarachi. If only she knows what is in store for her. Sins of the brother ๐ญ๐ญ
