“Stay away from me , go away from my baby!” Margaret screamed as Jacob came near the baby incubator.
“Don’t touch my baby go away , mummy tell Jacob to go away !” The terrified woman , grabbed her mother and wept , as the doctors led the speechless Jacob out of the room , where the new born was put in an incubator .
Margaret didn’t want what happened to then nice doctor with charming smile , who stood up for her when Jacob was busy cowering about protecting his parents to come on her and her son .
Doctor Shade had come into the baby room, to see how the baby was doing , her crestfallen demeanour, had changed she was sad and gloomy . Margaret imagined that she saw a bead of tears on her face .
“what’s it doctor Shade why you looking so gloomy ?” Margaret had asked .
the doctor trying to be professional and ethical tried to hide her tears , it was doctor Dapo that had brought her to Serenade Hospital , they had met in med school in Washington, at some point they even thought they would be married , but Dapo was taking his time a time Shade didn’t have , She had gotten married to her off and on boyfriend she met before Dapo .
working together with him hurt Shade because every fibre of her loved the man , she could see that he was never as happy as he was while they were together, she kept catching him stealing a look at her from the corner of her eyes .
To go and see him dead in his office this afternoon crushed her , she tried to keep it from the patient , Serenade Hospital was a massive one , but her emotions failed her and she let out a cry .
“What is wrong doctor , you’re quite a different woman from the one I saw this morning .” Margaret asked with compassion . “Is there anything wrong .”
“Don’t worry Maggie at least your baby is well and kicking .” she smiled and left the room . Margaret left her baby with her mother and ran after the doctor, as it was she no longer trusted her husband, is either he was on with his parents or he was just plain blind . either of the both she couldn’t trust her child to him .
“Doctor Shade please talk to me , I can see every one I’m the hospital looking sombre ,I remember how you and doctor Dapo were nice to me yesterday.”
At the mention of doctor Dapo’s name Shade broke down into a major fit of tears .
“Doctor what’s wrong ?” Margaret a bit confused asked .
“Doctor Dapo died earlier this evening in his office.” She said as a hot stream of tears stung her face .
“No no no no Jesus ! no this can’t be true he cannot be dead !” Margaret said in disbelief.
“He’s dead , my- friend- is- dead!” Doctor Shade fidgeted and and shook with shock . “Oh he was healthy .”
“Nooo! no what if it was my in-laws! ” Margaret cried . “My husband’s father threatened him.”
Maggie said while crying profusely.
“They were scratch on his face that fits the finger prints of domesticated cats .” she said as she turned to leave . “Just pray hard God will protect your baby .”
Margaret’s heart began to pound , she was so speechless, she ran back to her babies room , the shock was written all over her face , she kept rocking herself on the chair , wondering what lay ahead of her and her child .
“Maggie what’s the problem, I don’t understand the tension between you and your husband?” Mrs Adachaba asked Maggie . who ignored her mother and kept rocking how was she to fight against such a super rich family ?
Now she regretted ever going against her mother to marry Jacob , her mother warned her . the Afonjas could make she and the rest of her family disappear, they were stinking rich .
