The baby was sleeping upstairs, next room , to Grace’s room , Margaret had refused to to move back into the room she shared with Jacob , she despised him , for being too headstrong,they was a cold wall between, they only grumbled greetings to each other .
Margaret was in the sitting room watching a movie , while Jacob was in his studies going through files from work that day , he had a case of his father’s biggest client in court, a multimillion dollars case between his father’s client and ExxonMobil, he was engrossed in his work , as soft Afrobeat music was blaring in the background.
Outside the window of Margaret’s room, the two servants, Jacob’s parents had sent stood in the dark conversing.
“We have to attack today , we’ve been here for two weeks , time is against Oga.” Kamar one of the spy cats said .
“Yeah I’ve to go through the window , I’ll shift into my small cat, you’ll help me up the window .” Vaga mumbled and Immediately turned into a black cat , Kamar helped him up the window , and he landed on the second floor of Jacob’s mansion .
It turned to a two legged beast , with long tail , it was six feet tall , dark furs like a dark hole , the only bright thing was it’s claws , it began to walk on tip toes towards Margaret’s room .
Baby Joshua felt it’s presence and began to cry , His mother was engrossed in the Nollywood movie she was watching that she didn’t hear her son crying . Grace got up , and walked to the door , she could hear the creaking sound from the door, as beast tried to open the door without making a noise .
She followed behind , it walked down to where the baby was lying down , she grabbed a heavy metal , the Beast began to sniff the air , it had picked her scent , it dived at her , Grace heat it with the metal . the beast screamed and slashed her face with it’s claws , Grace let out a big scream .
Margaret ran from downstairs, towards the baby room where the noise was coming from , Jacob thought he was imagining the noise from the building , he reduced the volume of his music , he could hear his wife and mother in-law.
The six feet man ,all muscles began running towards the room , the beast knocked into him , they tumbled down the stairs case . Jacob saw for the first time the beast his wife and mother in-law had been describing , it was a monstrous creature that should never be seen .
The creature sank it’s fangs into Jacobs shoulders , Jacob grabbed its head and smashed it against the wall , they tumbled down the stairs case to the floor .
The beast got up and tried to run away . it got to the front door it was locked , so it tried to run out true the back door in the kitchen , Jacob who was losing blood got up and chased it into the kitchen.
He grabbed a sharp kitchen knife from the kitchen wall .
It glittered like sparkling stars , before the beast , They were almost same height and weight.
“What do you want from my family?” Jacob asked the beast , as they circled each other . Claws were ready for attack , the beast was trying to get behind Jacob , to attack his neck with a bite.
“Jacob are you okay ?” Margaret called from outside of the room . “I am fine baby , go back upstairs and lock yourself, behind the door , wait there until I come .” Margaret went back and locked the door where her mother and Grace was ,she got the first aid box and began bandaging her mother’s wound .
“You think you can stop us ? you’re from us , what we need we take , what we want we get , you cannot stop us , Joshua is ours .” The beast grunted . it jumped on the marble table at the middle of the kitchen and jumped at Jacob .
Jacob rolled over, he plunged the knife into the side of beast , it growled , as it scratched his face with is sharp claws .
“Die you beast from hell” Jacob said as he hit the head of the heinous beast against the kitchen sink , it pushed Jacobs backwards at a fast speed until they crashed down the pots and utensils on the wall , the stringent sound was was so loud and stringent.
Jacob grabbed the pot of stew that was on the gas cooker , and emptied it at the beast . The pot became a weapon with which he slammed the beast over and over in the face .
the beast tumbled him to the ground and sank it’s sharp canine teeth into his right shoulders , Jacob let out a sharp cry , Margaret wanted to rush down and help her husband, but her mother begged her to stay back as Jacob instructed .
The beast while sitting on Jacob’s chest tried to pull his eyes out of the socket , Jacob stretched his hands towards a kitchen knife that had fallen from the shelve .
The beast saw what he wanted to do it dragged him away from the knife , the beast had strength of four men, Jacob was also a strong man , he fought back holding to the legs of a table , he stretched his hands and grabbed the sharp kitchen knife.
He plunged it at the neck of the beast ,it let out a loud earth shaking growl, then sank it’s fangs into Jacob’s arms . He pulled out the knife and plunged it into its chest .
The beast fell to the ground and was trying to get up , Jacob shoved the knife in Deeper and deeper as the beast grunted , as it hands fell down beside it , as it went limp .Before Jacobs eyes the beast melted and disappeared, all traces of its black blood that had stained the ground , m
disappeared too.
Jacob got up from the ground battered , and covered in his blood , he could hear a loud bang on the outside door , as well as the mewing of a cat , a growl of a lion again and again the second beast rammed against the door .
Jacob went back to his studies and grabbed his double barrel gun , with plenty cartridges into a back pack .
and ran upstairs , Margaret embraced him , she was terrified, he was looking all injured and battered .
“Baby you’re bleeding , we need to get you to the hospital.” Jacob shook his head .
“No am sorry baby , I need to get my family out of here , from the howling outside I believe there are more coming, or there’s one outside .” He said grabbing Mrs Grace.
“Margaret just grab some things for the baby , I need to take you out of here .” He loaded his short gun and chambered a round . His family wouldn’t die under his watch .They headed out , as the second beast had climbed the roof top and was screeching and growling , pulling out the aluminium roofing, trying to get into the house .
Because all doors and windows had been locked up . Jacob wondered how he was to escape with his family unharmed.
