Surviving As A Single Mother

Title: Surviving as a Single Mother in a Foreign Land
Episode 1

Adesuwa had always been a dreamer. Growing up in Nigeria, she had big ambitions—to travel the world, start a business, and build a beautiful life for herself. She was intelligent, hardworking, and full of energy, never afraid to chase after success.

Then she met him.

It all started online, a harmless conversation on social media. Kunle lived abroad, in the United Kingdom, and he seemed like the perfect man—kind, charming, and successful. Their chats quickly turned into phone calls, and before long, video calls became a daily routine.

“Adesuwa, I know we’ve only known each other for a short time, but I feel like I’ve known you forever,” Kunle said one evening. “I want to marry you.”

Adesuwa’s heart raced. Marriage? It felt fast, but Kunle was everything she had ever prayed for. He was serious about her, unlike the unserious men who had wasted her time in the past.

He flew to Nigeria, and just like that, they had a beautiful wedding. Adesuwa was overjoyed. She was finally going to live her dream of traveling abroad with the love of her life.

The day she stepped off the plane in the UK, her heart swelled with excitement. The cold air, the structured roads, the tall buildings—it was everything she had imagined and more.

Kunle welcomed her warmly, showering her with love and gifts. “This is our new home,” he said, showing her their apartment. “You’re my queen, and I’ll take care of you.”

Adesuwa believed him. She trusted him.

Little did she know that her life was about to turn into a nightmare.

Episode 2

The first few months in the UK felt like a dream come true for Adesuwa. Kunle took her to beautiful places, bought her gifts, and treated her like a queen. She felt lucky to have a man who cared for her so deeply.

Then, the change began.

At first, it was subtle. Kunle started staying out late, coming home at odd hours with no explanation. When she asked him about it, he dismissed her with a wave of his hand.

“Stop acting like a child, Adesuwa. I’m just out with friends.”

The first time she smelled alcohol on his breath, she was shocked. “Kunle, you don’t drink,” she said, confused.

He laughed. “Things are different here, my dear. You better get used to it.”

Adesuwa tried to ignore the growing discomfort in her heart. She had left everything behind to be with him—her family, her dreams, her job. She had no choice but to trust him.

But things got worse. Kunle began bringing strangers into the house—loud, reckless friends who smoked and drank without respect for her presence. He would disappear for entire weekends, leaving her alone in a foreign country where she knew no one.

One evening, she confronted him. “Kunle, this is not the life you promised me. Why are you doing this?”

Instead of comforting her, he scoffed. “If you don’t like it, you can go back to Nigeria.”

Her heart shattered. She had given up everything for this man, and now he was treating her like she didn’t matter.

Still, she held on. She believed he would change.

Until one day, he did something that broke her completely.
