Surviving As A Single Mother episode 3&4

Title: Surviving as a Single Mother in a Foreign Land
Episode 3

Adesuwa sat on the couch, staring blankly at the wall. Kunle had just left the house—again.

This time, he didn’t even bother lying. He simply picked up his keys and walked out, leaving her alone in the silence.

She had lost count of how many times this had happened.

Loneliness consumed her. She had no family in this country, no friends, no one to talk to. Kunle had promised to help her settle in, to support her dreams, but instead, he had locked her in a life she never imagined—one filled with uncertainty, neglect, and heartbreak.

Then, the control started.

At the end of every month, she handed over her entire salary to Kunle. “A responsible man should manage the finances,” he told her. At first, she trusted him. But soon, she realized she had no access to any money. She couldn’t even buy basic things for herself without begging him.

One evening, she gathered the courage to speak up. “Kunle, I need to start saving money for myself. I can’t keep giving you everything.”

His eyes darkened. “Are you trying to say I can’t take care of you?”

“That’s not what I mean,” she said, her voice shaky. “I just need something for myself.”

Kunle slammed his fist on the table. “You’re my wife! You do as I say. If you don’t like it, go back to your father’s house!”

Tears burned in Adesuwa’s eyes. She felt trapped, powerless.

Days turned into weeks, and the situation worsened. Kunle’s late nights became longer, his friends more dangerous. Sometimes he wouldn’t return home for days. She started to feel like a stranger in her own house.

Then, one day, she discovered she was pregnant.

She thought this news would change everything. She hoped it would make Kunle realize his mistakes and become the man he once was.

But she was wrong.

Very wrong.

Episode 4

Adesuwa sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the positive pregnancy test in her hand. A wave of emotions rushed through her—fear, confusion, hope.

Maybe this baby would bring a change. Maybe Kunle would become the loving husband she once knew.

That evening, when Kunle finally came home, she took a deep breath and approached him.

“I have news,” she said softly.

Kunle barely looked up from his phone. “What is it?”

“I’m pregnant.”

For a brief second, she thought she saw something flicker in his eyes—shock, maybe even excitement. But it disappeared almost instantly.

Instead of joy, Kunle scoffed. “So? What do you want me to do about it?”

Adesuwa’s heart sank. “Kunle, this is our child…”

He rolled his eyes. “You think this will make me stay home? I didn’t ask for a baby, Adesuwa.”

Tears welled up in her eyes. “How can you say that?”

Kunle stood up, grabbing his car keys. “Look, I don’t have time for this nonsense. Just make sure you don’t stress me with your mood swings.”

And with that, he walked out.

That night, Adesuwa cried herself to sleep. She had given everything to this man, and now she was carrying his child alone.

The months that followed were brutal. Her pregnancy was difficult—constant headaches, dizziness, and eventually, high blood pressure. She was emotionally and physically drained.

Kunle became worse. He stayed out for days, barely checking on her. Any time they had a misunderstanding, he would pack his bags, threatening to leave. But this time, Adesuwa realized something—she was already alone.

Then, at just seven months pregnant, the unthinkable happened.

One night, after yet another argument, Adesuwa collapsed in the kitchen. The pain in her chest was unbearable. The last thing she remembered was the sound of sirens and nurses shouting.

She had gone into premature labor.
