Title: Surviving as a Single Mother in a Foreign Land
Episode 5
Adesuwa’s vision blurred as the sharp pain tore through her body. She could hear muffled voices around her—nurses shouting, machines beeping, the wheels of a hospital bed rolling against the cold floor.
She was in labor. But it was too soon.
Tears streamed down her face as she gasped for breath. “Please… save my baby…” she whispered before darkness consumed her.
When she woke up, the room was silent except for the gentle hum of medical machines. The air smelled of antiseptic, and her body felt weak.
Her heart pounded. Where’s my baby?
A nurse walked in and smiled gently. “You’re awake.”
“My baby?” Adesuwa asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
The nurse’s smile softened. “Your baby was born prematurely, but she’s a fighter. She’s in the incubator, but the doctors are doing everything they can.”
Relief and fear clashed in Adesuwa’s chest. Her child had survived, but at what cost?
Then she remembered Kunle.
She turned her head slowly, hoping to see him by her side. But the chair next to her bed was empty.
“He left,” the nurse said quietly, as if reading her thoughts. “He only stayed a few minutes after you were admitted. Then he walked out.”
Adesuwa felt the final piece of her heart break. Even in her weakest moment, the father of her child had abandoned her.
A tear slipped down her cheek as she whispered, “I have no one.”
The nurse squeezed her hand gently. “You have your baby. And you have yourself. You’re stronger than you think.”
That night, as Adesuwa lay in her hospital bed, she made a promise.
She would survive.
Not for Kunle. Not for anyone else.
But for her child.

Title: Surviving as a Single Mother in a Foreign Land
Episode 6
Adesuwa sat by the hospital incubator, watching her tiny baby fight for life. Tubes surrounded the fragile infant, and each breath seemed like a struggle. But despite everything, her daughter was alive.
She placed a gentle hand on the glass, whispering, “You’re strong, my love. And I’ll be strong for you.”
Kunle never returned.
No calls. No messages. Nothing.
It was as if he had erased her from his life.
Days later, the doctor came in with a solemn look. “Ms. Adesuwa, we need to discuss your baby’s care plan. Since your husband isn’t around, you’ll need to handle everything yourself.”
Adesuwa’s heart sank. She had no savings. No income. She was completely alone in a foreign country.
After being discharged, she found herself struggling. With no financial support, she had to rely on government assistance just to afford baby formula and diapers. The weight of being a single mother hit her harder than ever.
Meanwhile, Kunle was living freely.
Through whispers in the African community, she learned the painful truth—he had married another woman from Nigeria and was in the process of bringing her to the UK.
Anger and pain mixed in her heart. How could he move on so easily while she was drowning?
But Adesuwa refused to break.
She looked at her daughter, who had fought so hard to live, and made a decision.
She would not be a victim.
She would find a way to survive.
